    Realized that on pad all you need is the left or right D-pad button because if you hold left/right and tilt the button downward, it gives you db/df. Releasing the button also ends the input with back or forward. This means you can just ignore down on the D pad and just roll your thumb on just 1 button and you get b, db, b or f, df, f.

    For people still struggling , make sure to release d/b properly.
    After releasing d/b, command history should look like this
    d/b , b
    This allows you to backdash with ONE back input after releasing d/b
    Also, if you're getting the exact same commands as Anakin but still cant see a backdash, that means you're cancelling the dash before it starts.
    So what you should do is wait for your character to do the dash animation before inputting d/b

    Coming from a SF background and never playing Tekken before 7 I'm finding this extremely difficult. I can get the backdash from db sometimes but it's so inconsistent. I feel like I'm doing it right but the inputs usually say db,b most of the time and when I do it right it obviously says db,b,b but I feel like I'm doing the same motion. Guess it just comes down to practice and muscle memory. This is probably the best tutorial I've seen and I've watched dozens so thx Anakin.

    Doing this on P1 side on stick was no problem, but I had to practice quite a bit for 3 nights to get the backdash to come out consistently from crouch on P2. This tech works and it's important to take it nice and slow, then the motion becomes delicious to do.

  • @kranberryxox
    @kranberryxox 6 років тому +22

    For anyone still having trouble .. Anakin says u don't have to lift off down back and then back ...it's a little misleading ...you let off down back for a hair and then press back. It's much more fluent. That's what he means about it's just back backing and masking the down back duck..

    • @TkAnakin
      @TkAnakin  6 років тому +4

      I probably meant to say right before you let go of d/b for a hair and press b (as you mentioned) you should be transitioning from db to b anyways (without letting dpad go).
      This is how you're able to dash back although you're only pressing B ONCE after the neutral

    • @kranberryxox
      @kranberryxox 6 років тому +2

      Hoa Luu yea. I never looked at it that way.. and then you said something like "yea a little wiggle" ..I kept playing the video over and over and it just clicked.. sat in practice mode for 4hours straight but it completely stepped up my dashing game. The masking the duck is a very important detail. Thanks ;)

    • @OncheDieu
      @OncheDieu 6 років тому

      Yeah but it doesn't work if you do db n b
      The correct input is : db,b n b (look at the command history and try yourself, you'll see, if you only press db n b, it'll not work or look at the vid I just did to show)

    You are a lifesaver Darth Vader. On the pad it is a bit tricky as you should slightly press down while holding back. Most strength on your thumb should be on back, then release then back and hold then down again! Did after 10 minutes. Been trying for many years & still can't get it. Wish it were easy.
    Maybe too tough for some people. Thanks for the vid though. You're good.

      Same, it's easy to see what is being done but there's no way I can replicate that. I've been practicing since early 00s

    Is there a different between this and the bBDbB? Where you have an extra b input?

      Also my problem. When I release my joystick back to neutral I don't have that extra back.

    This also doesn't mention when doing this on stick if after the b,b input if you then roll the still down into D/b or if you let go of the stick after the back to have a neutral and then you hit d/b separately. This is why I'm having so much trouble figuring out how to do the movement on stick. I never seem to get much distance on P2 side. P1 is so much easier

    After learning wavedash on both sides you just do the same commands as if you wavedash to your back :D

    but for sway chars I went for sidestep cancelling(bb,d,bb,d), I think KingJay does it.
    It's not that fast and probably wrong, however much easier and more consistent for noob like me :)
