  • In this video I shows how easy it is to install the BakFlip MX4 tonneau cover. The MX4 features heavy-duty aluminum matte finish panels, enhanced premium density foam core, and upgraded latch housing components. An all new integrated tailgate seal allows the cover to be closed with the tailgate in the closed or open position. You will have 100% access to your truck bed and it is all backed by a 3-year warranty.

I watched this video one time, that is all it took for me to be able to install my bed cover. This video is really that good!

One of the best videos I’ve seen on this, clear instruction A-Z and well filmed. Good use of fast forward in parts but slowed down at right time. Many thanks looking for this for my dodge Ram

Great video. Thanks for being so detailed and thorough. I'm getting ready to install the MX4 on a 2021 RAM 1500 and had the same issue with the metal shavings you pointed out.

Thanks for the detailed overview. Installed one today on my 2007 Tundra. had to to remove and re-install my deck rail with included aluminum drop-plates to allow room for the top MX4 frame also. It took me 2-3 hours. Fit is nice and tight.

Nicely done and thank you for the effort! I really appreciated you pointing out the poorly drilled holes that had aluminum shavings in them. My MX4 had them too and luckily I had a small round file to clean up the holes. Other than that, the install went without issue. I'll add that the rubber window bumpers and the foam tape have paper backing that is impossible to remove if you are doing the install in cold weather. Best to leave those items in a warm area until you are ready to install them.

I’m looking to get one for my Tundra Crewmax. I have a deck rail system. I watch to see if I could do it myself. I’m glad you showed the drain tube routing. I was wondering about that part. Lol

Great video. I have a BAKflip MX4 too. The ONLY thing I don't like about it, is the rear corner on the driver side seems the be elevated just a tad. The passenger side seems flush. Aside from that, its really nice looking. I may go back and mess around with adjustments, and see if that solves the slight issue.

Something not quite right there. Possibly the last clamp needs to be adjusted to pull the end down a little.

Also nice truck and would you do anything different with a drop in bedliner I have about a finger width gap between my bedliner and plastic rail caps where it is lower on the bulkhead because the liner doesnt go all the way to the rail caps a little shorter from side to side

Just ordered one, when u attach the thumb screws to the bracket do u put the washers between the mx4 cover and the bracket or do u put it all on the outside of the bracket between it and the thumbscrew

When the MX4 cover is fully folded back and leaning up against the back of the cab, what is the distance / clearance from the inside of the top of the bulkhead to the rear edge of the opened cover?
I have a combo transfer tank with a toolbox on top in my '22 Silverado 1500. I know that the fully opened MX4 cover eats up enough distance from the backside of the bulkhead that I wouldn't be able to fully open the toolbox lid. But, depending on how far rearward the edge of the fully opened MX4 sits, I might still be able to open the lid enough to make the toolbox useful.
My second issue might be the height clearance for the top of the transfer tank fuel pump (which sits proud of the top of the toolbox). Right now, the overall height is just about even with the bed rail. If the underside of the tonneau cover itself (not the side rails or hardware, but the inner field of the cover) falls below the bed rail and uses up any of the clearance, I might have a problem. However, it looks like the underside of the cover inner field might actually be slightly above the height of the bed rail. Which would give me a little more "breathing room." I know that bed rail heights vary, so the most useful measurement would be the measurement from the top of the bed rail (same as the bottom of the mounting rail portion that sits on the bed rail) to the underside of the cover inner field. I imagine that this would be less than an inch.
My final question is, what kind of issue might there be with the trapping in the closed cover of the inevitable smell of diesel fuel? No matter how carefully I fill the tank and pump fuel, there is the inevitable residue somewhere. From your video, you don't have a fuel tank in your bed, but, do you have any thoughts on that?

How safe is cargo? It seems someone could use a wire hanger from the outside to pull cord.

Can add a piece of aluminum angle iron in back of both rear release cable discouraging the coat hanger opener. Just a thought?

I just installed mine on my 2010 Titan. I'm having an issue with the prop arms being too long and not fitting even when the rail is pulled all the way up. Anybody else have this same issue? I figure I could take a grinder and cut the arms and slide the rubber piece back on, but before I do that I want to make sure it's not an installation error.

These covers look really nice, but mine leaks like a sieve. Waiting to see what they do about it warranty-wise. Unacceptable amount of leakage on a brand new cover. My 400 dollar trifecta never did that.....this one leaks between the side rails and the truck as well as at the fold seams on the cover itself. for the cost this should not do this.
