When you thought Koehler couldn’t do worse than the Courage…
I had this engine on a Husqvarna, $899 piece of garbage. Great vid!

Oh, the Courage. Trash engine for sure. Chinese copies of a Honda are made better than the courage junk

Never seen a choke system like that before, don't think I would be a fan of it ,but great video random it sure ran nice 👍

You're not kidding that there is a lot going on with that carburetor!! Is it worth it to buy a replacement carb ?? And did it come with the auto choke mechanism ?? Looks like a intricate setup for a lawn mower.

I did put a new carb on there because it would not stop overflowing. A new needle and seat weren't easily available. So I rolled the dice and bought a cheap replacement carb. The choke is OEM, expensive for what it is, and its a terrible design.

What was wrong with the carb it couldn’t be repaired? Thanks always for your honest opinions.

This one needed a needle, seat, and float. Carb kept overflowing when not running. The OEM parts weren't available as fast as I needed them, so I gambled on a cheapie carb to try. Seems to be fine so far, that was done quite a while ago, and the new owner hasn't told me there has been any problems.

Nice video always clear and easy to understand.
Been fooling with a Craftsman LT 1000 something with the carb elevates and droms rpms while running.
    Ideas???

If it's surging at idle, it's gonna be a pilot or idle circuit lean. If it's doing it at high speed, it's a general lean condition like dirty fuel filter, or debris in the seat, or restricted main jet.

I don't understand why companies see the need to change things. If it ain't broke why fix it.

It's a strange choke system on these Kohlers, Briggs and Honda can do it easier and more reliably

Don, maybe you can put me in the right direction for solving a slight problem I’ve had with a White Outdoor/MTD LT542H. Something is making the Tecumseh 20HP V-twin with twin carb engine slow to start. Battery fully charged and valve lashes corrected long ago. I’ve ultrasonic cleaned the Vector carb bowls and integral parts plus replaced the 4 O-rings (The two at the bottom of the emulsion tubes were deformed and preventing the tubes from moving up and down). Confirmed fuel flows to carbs and solenoids function correctly. I’m pretty convinced it’s a fuel issue because once it fires it runs just fine. Will start immediately with a volatile sprayed into the intakes. I’ve run the tank dry and used fresh fuel with no change. I’m not familiar with how fast fuel should flow from the pump so the only thing I can think is the pump is just not making full pressure. Is that a possibility or is there something else of which I’m not aware going on?

It's possible you have low flow from the pump, but that would usually show up as bogging or stalling at high speed where it needs more fuel. I have chased problems with these 2bbl carbs before, and it usually takes a new carb to fix it. Terrible design

Oh, noooo! What, and break my record of never purchasing a replacement carb? 😉

@@Rein_Ciarfella You will eventually get to the point where the hours of time spent trying to fix a junk carb is worth more than the inexpensive carb replacement. The customer will be willing to pay for a new carb, but not for 4 hours of messing around and THEN a new carb...lol

looks like they took what could be a simple carb and over engineered it the auto choke has been around for many years

I don't like this choke at all. Very finicky to get it to work right
