  • In this video, I broke down the two Focus engines that I have to take a count of what parts I have and what parts are broken. Between the original engine and the Craigslist engine and transmission I bought, I just need one complete setup. They both had their issues. I hope you enjoy this video and are excited about this project. I have been excited about doing the work and producing the video because I want to drive this car and it has been sitting around for too long!

    Thank you for the responce,the smoke was from the oil that came out of the valve cover which had blowen out all the way around, I have not found out why yet,Im looking into it as I have time ,I love this car,but i dont want to pull the engine.I dont have a garage or other suitable place.

      Oh dang it. Ya if there was pressure under the valve cover I would be wondering if that vent tube in the valve cover is working right. Maybe it's plugged or something.

    Hey man I loved your vids,but one thing I didnt see was you removing or replacing the valve cover.I have a 2003 Ford Focus SVT/ZX5 I absolutly love it until about 3 weeks ago when it blew something ,power los smoke etc... I was not driving ,but it was pulled over and engine cut off manualy! I do not know yet what the problem was/is and dont know if I will fix or what yet its all about time and money ,LOL . Great vids keep it up .

      Oh damn. Ya in one of my later videos, I install the valve cover with all new gaskets. When I bought the car, the valve cover was already removed by the previous owner lol. It was pretty tore up. That sucks about your car having issues. The thing that concerns me is the smoke part of your description. I hope it isn't hurt. Always appreciate comments!!!

      The lower intake manifold itself I got with the car. I got the gaskets between the lower intake manifold and cylinder head from rock auto. 👍

    Great Video! I'm swapping out the short block on my son's svt as well. Did you bring the engine out the top or the bottom? Any tricks you can share?

    • @605BOLT
      @605BOLT  2 роки тому +1

      I went out the bottom I think. It has been almost two years ago now that I pulled it out. Don't really remember mucj besides. Just jacked the car up real high in the front and used a cherry picker with a decent length of chain to drop it down below the car onto a floor jack and roll it out. Hope that helps a little. 😬

      I will say also, in my experience, it's not so critical what the actual number is but rather how similar the cylinders are to each other. If they're all reading 100-110 psi, I would run it no problem. If three are reading 150 and one is reading 110, I might want to do just a little more checking or at least retest the low cylinder. Hope that makes sense.

    Hi,is there a difference between the 2.0zetec and duratec|st170 crank?

    • @605BOLT
      @605BOLT  Рік тому

      I'm not aware of any difference. Somebody said once they were balanced a slightly better but I've never seen any evidence of that. The one I put in my focus was actually out of a regular zetec. It ran great.

    See why us spec zetecs are non interference as the pistons have valve cut outs in the event of cambelt failiure our UK engines have a flat top piston no cut oits valves get damaged here wouldn't use the rod of number 4 again source another as the housing will be out of round due to the hammering action of it knocking on the crank also its scored

    • @605BOLT
      @605BOLT  Рік тому

      It has run great since day one. The rod measured in spec as well. You will see that in future videos. US spec SVT engines are interference engines even though they have small reliefs cut into their face. I used a different crank. But you will see that in future videos as well.
