This one boy changed my educational life forever.
I remember myself 2 years ago, school's top student, hanging out with people who never cared about grades and it was horrible because I felt so bad for caring about stuff like that. Last year I cut them off and started being friends with the people that also cared about grades and I saw that it helped me not feel odd in my friend group. I think it was a great decision to switch friends.
" think of homework not as a chore but as a easiest way to increase your grade" this was the mindset i used to always finish my homework, so yeah it works
Maybe this advice will help someone: I also had school issues, but now I am doing way better. For me (A- student), homework is not something to increase your grades, but to keep them. Try to do all assignments and everything will be easier, I promise. But try to do them all. I hope this helps someone.
I'm a junior in highschool rn and I've realized that life is like a mindset, if you keep a strong and disciplined mindset than the better person you'll become in the future and more you'll better yourself and more successful you'll be
I'm a Junior in high School and I'm Struggling with my homework in school and I don't know math like that and I don't even know Biology and other stuff that the Teachers teach me. They always expecting us to know All the damn Answers and sometimes when we just don't know the Answer that good whatsoever but we intend to Say the Answers out loud...
Im an asian that gets straight A's like its nothing. Here are my tips: Keep in mind that if you get a B ur getting the (B)elt and out of the house you go.
ik this is a joke but i really hope no one thinks this is the approach you need to get good grades lmao find more effecient methods not long dragged out ones !
Another Stranger I wasn’t being serious when I wrote this. I was taught at kumon for only 2 years and most of what had been taught to me back then were spelling. I just barely pass almost all of my subjects because I never took my studies seriously. Currently, I have been delayed by about 1 and a half year in college because I kept failing subjects.
A) dont skip B) do your work C) turn in your work D) dont cheat E) be smart about when you do your work (ex. do hw thatll take 30 mins at lunch instead of at home if its for a class after lunch) F) check your grades at least every other day and if you see something off, go ask your teacher about it and if you can fix it. its their job. dont be shy.
I think school is easier when you have people around you, that’s why online school is so difficult for me. When I’m sitting in class, I’m surrounded by students doing their work so I end up following along.
@@2zazzy it was the opposite for me. Well I do okay in both. But when everything started opening up and I can go to the quiet libraries and just have at it. My GPA went up from a 2.0 to a 3.3
the only thing my school does is asking us to manage our time properly, while not even trying to tell us how to managed our time, malaysian school here others the same?
@@brandonchan4537 I have British school but yeah they don’t really tell you how to manage time and they just ask if you do even tho you don’t know how..
tips: 1. hang around motivated & ambitious people 2. think of homework not as a chore, but as the easiest way to increase your grades 3. work to learn, not just for the test (learn why you're studying) 4. have the habit to finish what you've started (this has to come natural and automatic to you) 5. set out your day so that you know you have time to do everything
I'm Asian and the reason I always get straight A's is because: 1) I want to be smart 2) I want to be noticed by teachers lol. If they call you out for being the best, the feeling of being proud is on a different level 3) for homework, when you finish a portion, think of it as the biggest achievement you've got and that if you keep completing portions, you can finish it. I don't really know how to explain it 😅
I think I know how to explain 3: Instead of reviewing the entirety of the homework and how much you've not completed yet, Just enjoy solving every problem individually. in other words: Instead of focusing on the result, focus on the process.
@Kaif Ali People generalize others by how smart they are because of their grades. I wish it wasn't like that, but that's how it is for me. I use "smart" as an encouragement for me to complete my studies and even for some things I'm not interested at school. I've always been told to follow my dreams and interest. Maybe later on I wish I can focus all I want on something I'm interested in. Thanks for the advice though.
@Abhijayy I feel you. I don't want my job to do anything with coding or computers because I feel like I'm less happy with that. My parents make me code and I don't even know if I can be good at it. But there's hope! Maybe they'll listen to you if they see that you're the best at something you love.
a lot of smart people i know never spoke out in class BUT were smarter than me. intelligence is inherited. you are either high low or avg iq. you can only control how much you can maximize that
secret to always straight A's: have Asian parents who won't let you sleep in your home when you don't get straight A's (never happens to me but my friend did)
Using your tips, I really bumped up my grades... I went from C Average to a B Average, and I am planning on working much harder this year! Thank you for your tips, they are greatly appreciated! (Be Like Bob!)
No,, Oh come on you didn’t get B because of this video. Yes he might gave you a bit motivation , but that’s it and did you get one B or you finish the year with B.And your lessons might be more interesting the last year so you enjoy learning it. Not hate, just saying
@@gtrip4899 dude how old are you? maybe its like that in like... elementary school, or your teacher is really nice and doesn't pay attention to what you do. but when you're in late middle school thru high school, then come back here and tell me if you still think the same thing
Maria Fedorchuk yeeee I’m in 8th grade lol. Going to highschool already. I guess 8th grade was hard? I didn’t really go all out like, I’m gonna give 100% effort, I’m gonna do every little thing to get the best grade. Nah I didn’t do that. I got As and Bs and one C in reading, because it’s one of the most boring classes ever and I try the least in that class. I don’t know how your school works, but mine gives a report and I got all 100s in my core classes cause I was trying a bit.
Is it bad to say I'm pretty sure my life did depend on it? Lmao, anyways social life became nonexistent during the pandemic so idk if anyone had trouble with that step xd
Currently I’m in 10th grade and cuz of COVID, this is my first “real” high school year where I’m going to feel the real workload. I’ll say that overall, my grades have always been great but I’m watching this and writing this out because I know that there’s always room to improve. I’ve always thought of studying specifically as a chore but this year, I’ll try to think of studying as an opportunity to learn and get better at a certain concept. Wish me luck! I wish all of you reading this a successful school year too
My personal tips based on my experience Middle school: Try to limit your extracurricular activities. Unless you're really passionate about a sport, try not to join sports clubs, as they take up a lot of time and energy. When you get home exhausted, with your muscles all sore, it's hard to concentrate on studying or homework. However, don't be afraid to try new things. Middle school is where you should try to figure out your strengths and weaknesses academically, so you can focus on what kind of electives you want to take in High School. Otherwise, getting straight A's in Middle school shouldn't be too hard if you make sure to do all your homework and do some extra study for at least 1-2 hours a day. High school: Try to limit any drama and personal distractions. High school is when people's hormones just go through the roof, so it's no surprise that you see a lot of drama in social circles. By all means, go ahead and date and socialize, as it's an important part of your growth as a human being, but keep in mind that you shouldn't let that affect your studies. By now, you should have some idea what your strengths and weaknesses are. Pick electives that you know you'll enjoy and won't affect your GPA negatively. Also try to figure out what you want to do in college before senior year, as you'll have to choose certain electives and classes, and you don't want to play catch-up during your senior year. You should be increasing your study time from 1-2 hours to maybe 2-3 hours a day. Try not to burn out, but you should build up your endurance for college when it comes to studying. A lot of people can get straight A's in highschool by just cramming before a test, but you don't want to develop bad habits. College: You'll have to accept that you're on your own, now. Teachers won't call your parents when you skip classes. Your parents don't get sent report cards. There will be no one to keep you accountable, unless your professor is really invested in your academic career. You also have the chance to choose your teachers now. You're paying for your education, so choose carefully. Read academic reviews about your professors. If you get a bad feeling about a professor during your first day, cut your losses and withdraw from the class, while you can still get a 100% refund. A bad professor, or one with a teaching style that doesn't suit your learning style, can affect your GPA more than your actual academic proficiency. Make sure to look at your course syllabus/schedule if it's available. Make sure that important project dates and deadlines don't overlap. Use a spreadsheet or a calendar tool to determine if deadlines from the classes you want to take overlap. Even if you need to spend more time earning your degree, it's better to spread your courses out, so you don't burn out or risk endangering your GPA. Don't be in a hurry to join the workforce, unless your personal situation necessitates it. Even if you have to spend an extra year or so to earn your degree, it's better to keep your GPA stable. Go easy on the student loans.
I used to procrastinate a lot on stuff I needed to get done in middle school, this made me fail a lot of my subjects, but ever since I saw your video and decided to quit that bad habit , I've been able to achieve a lot in my life. I'm making good grades and helping my friends out too. Having people who are passionate with studies and are also determined to be successful is really good. They help you stay focused. Thanks so much for the video.
Is it just me, or does it feel like online school is giving more work than what you would recieve at a regular day in school? I have to use this website called edgenuity and it is terrrible! and ooohh do you like anme?
@@sluuthysonny781 Same with my school. When school was regular I would get less homework. For example for Math we only got 15-30 questions for homework a day but with online I have to do 60 problems a day. I use to be a A- and B+ student but now I am a B- and C+ student.
I’ve always known this subconsciously but I never gave it much thought. This video really helped me realize that I need to start focusing more on the process rather than what the end result should be. Thank you.
I actually really could’ve used this a few years ago, luckily I found enjoyment at school without this video, I would be getting straight C’s and I’m now a 4.0 GPA student with the highest classes
I find your advice very true because before, I used to be in love with school and learning; ultimately finding it so fascinating. Then suddenly, I switched schools and everyone in my class hated learning so I felt like an outcast for loving it. I started to invest my time in other things instead of studying like before just so I would be able to hold conversations with my classmates. (A whole personality change really.) I’m quite proud to say that my grades are still at their best but the difference is, the procrastination habits that I have developed are now my biggest weakness when it comes to school. I’m always anxious while doing my assignments late at night a day or two before it’s due. My sleep schedule is messed up, causing me to have slight, sometimes severe, headaches. I remember a time where I almost fainted while trying to get a glass of water before going back to finish my work. So for anyone reading this I can’t stress it enough: do what you want for yourself. Make friends that want you to do the best for yourself, that don’t complain, and that are hard working and optimistic. Trust me. As the school year is about to start for me, I recently found my love for learning again through one of my close friends. She was in that same class I switched to with all the school haters, but I only realized her similar dedication for learning years later. We went to a math academy together this summer and today was our last day. I’m slowly gaining lost pieces of myself and I’m so so grateful for her. Sorry for the paragraph or 2.
Thanks this helps alot, I was a 4.0 GPA freshman last year and I switched schools this year. I am doing good on most of my classes but there are some which I'm struggling in and it's alot different. I searched this video but cause I did bad on my tests. I am want to start Improving. What you wrote helped me realize something very important. Thanks.
The grass is always greener, we spend our lives wanting to be special and the best and then when we see the stress and pressure of that life we realize education is not something you can shove down your throat. Instead it is something you truly find passion in
oops' Jackson actually B’s and a A’s are the only thing you will need not C’s so you mean it’s time to get rid of the C’s and not B’s. This was not meant for me to be rude so don’t push yourself.
If you want to get into a good college or even farther in life its suggested that you get A's and have a high gpa. Pushing yourself just makes you stronger !! :)
Another tip: Just listen in the classes, because the time you spent there talking without getting what it's about, is going to give you more freetime, because you don't need to study as much and it's automatically going to improve your grades...
5:52 I wish I was naturally smart ♡ 6:23 1- Hang around people who get it. (Not thinking of school as a chore, Enjoyment of mastering something and getting an A) 7:35 2- Think of homework as the easiest way to increase your grades. (Do your homework assignments even if they seem useless) 8:42 3- Work to learn not just to do. (Take time to learn. The work will appear again and it's better to know what's going on. OP spends 10 extra minutes doing problems gradually increasing the time. When exams came around all he had to do was review.) 9:43 4- Routine (People that generally do well have a routine. They usually talk about their plans which include doing homework, projects and assignments) 11:09 5 - Set out/plan your day (Time management. Master your time, getting more done in less time. Usually students who do well tackle their responsibilities as soon as they get home and still have free time.) TAKEAWAY : Try hanging out with people who do well or at least someone who is doing better than you. Hopefully their ways will rub off on you or encourage you to try harder. Thank you for this wonderful video ♡
Those are all excellent points. In middle school I never did the work and my grades reflected it. When I got to Highschool though, I changed my habit’s. I now have a 4.0 gpa. I did basically all of these things. The only thing I would add to this is take responsibility for your actions. Don’t blame the teacher for your bad grades if you did not study.
I agree, that quick part where you mentioned your parents not congratulating you on your achievement is a serious problem. I maintained a 4.0 GPA throughout elementary and middle school, eventually earning a presidential award, and when I showed it to my parents they just said "Oh, yeah, great job. Better keep your grades up, or else." and practically shoved my award in a drawer. This video really helped to put things in perspective that we all struggle. Thanks ;) (also I had to rerun parts of the video at times because your spiky hair was too distracting XD)
Motivation is key, I used to be a C and occasional B student and when I started going to a better school; the kids would get better grades than my previous schools and it motivated me to achieve and a higher level.
@@burnwyd7265 bruh same I don't feel like studying at all the whole vibe of doing everything online has made feel like its a joke cos I have no one to ask my questions and even if I do I get a half assed explanation
I'm in a school where everyone gets A*'s and complain about getting A's, personally it just makes me feel worse about my B+'s and occasional B's :p I feel like there isn't any point in trying if I'll never be as good as everyone in a setting where people just think I'm dumb :(
@@miacassidy6204 What matters is you trying your best. Our best changes if were at our lowest points then obivously our best won't be the same as our best when we are at our highest points. You're not dumb. Hope this helped. Have a great day.
My parents and my older siblings were always drilling these ideas into my mind, which I am now grateful for. Although they did push me a lot and often as a child I would find it overwhelming, this reinforced attitude has come to me natrually now. I do feel grateful for all my parents pushed me to do and the reinforcement of hard work
This video was in my recommendations and it's genuinely helpful! Tip #1 is something that doesn't get talked about often but it's subtle and can influence your success mindset a lot
My grades dropped to B's for the dumbest reasons.......like "oh you didnt do the math the way we wanted it done"........yet I got the same answer every time Last week I literally teared up and almost cried during the math test because I have no idea how to do it .
School is unfortunately one where you have to "play the systems game" but in the real world it won't be like that. If you don't know how to do it, stay after, ask classmates, read the text book
I know that problem. This is why I’m so glad that exams in my country aren’t about getting the right answer, it’s about showing your working and using the techniques you’ve been taught - at least, that’s what it is in my year. I know it’s going to change soon.
Hanging around people who work and know what they are doing is an actually useful, helpful tip. It adds a friendly competition, I went from not bothering at all to actually trying as a sort of one upping thing. It is a friendly competition, and is sort of positive peer pressure that really is helping me.
OMG I literally cried after watching this video. It's 11.30pm right now and I guess it's never too late to start studying. I was a top student in high school and got into a prestigious university, but right now I am falling behind in classes. Thank you so much for inspiring me!!!! I just pinned this video onto the bookmark bar and will watch whenever I need a reminder
In year seven I got rlly bad grades and the same in year eight however in maths I was getting like As and stuff but now I’m starting to get better so it just all comes with practice and as you grow up you naturally start to gain knowledge
This Fr changes my mindset . Last two years of high school I’ve had a 4.0+ and this junior year I’m just doing terrible. I really wanna do better and this changes my mindset. Thank you so much
Thank you for this. Currently, I'm an A student, but I was worried about university, as I wasn't really aware of what I was doing to get my grades. I needed to understand what I was doing right, and what I should continue, and this did just that, and more. So yeah, thank you!

How I got straight A’s:
1) Kumon
2) Strict asian parents
Kumon worked for you? It didnt for me i only learnt a bunch of fractions (at least i got faster at calculating and at fractions)
Yessssss
I used to go to kumon when I was in 1st grade and 2nd grade
In Kumon I was learning 6th grade stuff at 3rd grade
A) dont skip
B) do your work
C) turn in your work
D) dont cheat
E) be smart about when you do your work (ex. do hw thatll take 30 mins at lunch instead of at home if its for a class after lunch)
F) check your grades at least every other day and if you see something off, go ask your teacher about it and if you can fix it. its their job. dont be shy.
I think school is easier when you have people around you, that’s why online school is so difficult for me. When I’m sitting in class, I’m surrounded by students doing their work so I end up following along.

I can’t do it, I tried to enjoy homework. I couldn’t sadly.
I'm Asian and the reason I always get straight A's is because:
1) I want to be smart
2) I want to be noticed by teachers lol. If they call you out for being the best, the feeling of being proud is on a different level
3) for homework, when you finish a portion, think of it as the biggest achievement you've got and that if you keep completing portions, you can finish it. I don't really know how to explain it 😅
I think I know how to explain 3:
Instead of reviewing the entirety of the homework and how much you've not completed yet, Just enjoy solving every problem individually. in other words: Instead of focusing on the result, focus on the process.
@@radward7173 YESSS!!!

I can attest to that
My personal tips based on my experience
Middle school: Try to limit your extracurricular activities.
Thank youu!

My grades dropped to B's for the dumbest reasons.......like "oh you didnt do the math the way we wanted it done"........yet I got the same answer every time
Last week I literally teared up and almost cried during the math test because I have no idea how to do it .
School is unfortunately one where you have to "play the systems game" but in the real world it won't be like that. If you don't know how to do it, stay after, ask classmates, read the text book
Queso Dip the batXD so sorry
Don't give up...your math ideas could change the course of time
English is my worst
Dude it happened to me in a chemistry exam. I feel ur pain.
Absolutely!
We can prove he is a A grade student because:

OMG I literally cried after watching this video. It's 11.30pm right now and I guess it's never too late to start studying. I was a top student in high school and got into a prestigious university, but right now I am falling behind in classes. Thank you so much for inspiring me!!!! I just pinned this video onto the bookmark bar and will watch whenever I need a reminder

This Fr changes my mindset . Last two years of high school I’ve had a 4.0+ and this junior year I’m just doing terrible. I really wanna do better and this changes my mindset. Thank you so much
My pleasure
"Homework is the easier way to increase your grade." Then there's my math class where homework is only worth 20% of the grade...
Still a lot when compared with the smaller parts of your grade like effort grades and community skills
must be nice, it is only 10% for mine

Sounds like my kind of class. If classes had no homework I'd have had much higher grades.
Your really motivating me. I’m gonna do these steps and gonna improve my grades.

Thank you for this. Currently, I'm an A student, but I was worried about university, as I wasn't really aware of what I was doing to get my grades. I needed to understand what I was doing right, and what I should continue, and this did just that, and more. So yeah, thank you!

I just realized school is one of the only times in life where people expect you to be good at everything
I'm terrified of my parents so i have to do good, i do hang out with alot of good students, and on regular bases we do talk about school and grades
sorry you have to delete with parents like that, best of luck
