Man they just have so much soul. The bassist throwing off her headphones, the guitarist jumping up and down, the drummer covering the whole cymbal with his body so it wouldn't ring at the wrong moment. They're all listening.
Yes!! Like my jaw literally just dropped when the bassist threw her headphones off and just started going crazy with the jam. So much passion there arghh
not really they just do a simple mix, they do a lot of mistakes old sessions where a mess between really good and really bad but meh i follow them for the artist
Just saw them live in Dallas where they again kicked off their new world tour. Incredible experiencing them up close. The sound of KT on the bass is so incredible - sometimes feels a little drowned out on some recordings. It's definitely worth every dollar to see them live!!
I'm 54 and I surf the web looking for new interesting bands, to avoid always listening to the same old music - even if beautiful - and it's nice (even if rare) to find a really interesting band every now and then.
26yo right here and I am happy to read this. I've met too many 40+ year olds who are convinced that good music's died decades ago and looking for something new is a waste of time. Thanks to the internet we now have access to the greatest variety music that deserves to be discovered and appreciated - old or new
The drummer's economy of motion is fascinating lol. Such light movements, but absolute authority...and then I see him dive on the crash and completely disregard it. Love this band.
Honestly, Math Rock is just the perfect Genre. It's always so beautifully melodic while the rhythms and harmonies are so intriguing. When you have the time, it's absolutely worth listening to the music very closely and discover every little thing that's going on. If you're busy, just let it play in the background and enjoy the mood. It just took the best parts from Rock, Pop and Jazz and combined it into this weirdly wonderful thing....
I was tripping and found this performance, specifically Finger, and when the bassist takes her phones off and just jams i broke down in tears. the intense passion of jamming a piece you wrote with your soul. if you watch she shakes her earrings out right after that, too. that passion drove me to write my first song, ever. thank you elephant gym.
Great artists for tripping: 1. Shpongle 2. Grateful Dead (modern versions: Joe Russo's Almost Dead, Billy & The Kids ft. Billy Strings) 3. Tipper 4. Billy Strings 5. Mico-X 6. Joanna Newsom 7. Pink Floyd

No problem, Neal. That band is obviously accomplished enough that somebody would do it soon or later. I had some spare time and thought "why wait?" And then the drummer is wearing a Seattle t-shirt -- that's not too far from my stomping grounds, altho' … off the top of my head, I'm not sure which is closer, Seattle … or Mt. Rainier Nat'l Park. (okay, okay, it's a ref. to a baseball club …) Little doubt, if he were still around, Peter Rainier would be proud in any case. :-)
what is that weird transcription you used for their names?? bassists name is Keiting Zhang (張凱婷), guitarist is Kaixiang Zhang (張凱翔), drummer is Jiaqin Tu (涂嘉欽)
I had never heard of this band, and I just fell in love with them after watching this performance. Also omg they’re so cute, groovy, extremely talented! This music is all good vibes.
This might be my new favourite band. They have a perfect mix of upbeat math rock and jazz. I love the bassist. I love that the bass is almost the "star" instrument in their music. It's just brilliant. I could listen to their work all day. I would give my right arm to be able to compose music like this.
such a rare combination of raw talent, extreme discipline and experience, and just 3 people who know how to have fun. they are such incredible musicians. the drummer is like the tide, the bassist is the wave, and the guitarist/pianist is the light reflecting off the surface.
Dude, totally, your music scene is amazing. Saw Sunset Rollercoaster live a few months ago in Brussels, one of the best concerts I've ever been to. These guys are on the list as must sees for me too
I am SOOOOO Happy to see these guys getting recognition. KT is a generational bass player in my opinion. To see her going completely off at the 6:59 mark is priceless. Ask her what she did in Austin..... "I drunk everyday". I love this girl. She saw her first Mosh Pit in Austin. :)

Thanks Audiotree - I hadn't heard of Elephant Gym prior to hearing this, and they're absolutely brilliant. Insanely great musicianship, great dynamics, just fantastic work.
