I had a 2004 R1, had a tune and exhaust done by the previous owner that claimed it has around 190hp. The bike was a beast but never would I ever want one back, a trip to the bakery had me pumped up, and God forbid you sneeze or hit a pothole the small twist of the wrist will send you flying down the street. The first time I touched the red line in 1st gear I felt like I was traveling through time, its just so damn quick you can't relax on it. Anyways, I hope you enjoy the bike, it looks so nice.
Edit: You better wire yourself a manual fan on/off switch because you dont want 110 C under your balls

Easiest way I find for rough temp conversion from farenheight to celcius is (temp - 30) ÷ 2
And then back the other way is (temp x 2) + 30
    Hope it helps!

I'm 46 and also have a mid-life crisis R1. I bought a 2012 Raven version, so not much different than yours. Although, if you plan on changing your exhaust, I highly recommend the titanium Graves system. It sounds even more amazing than the Two Brothers, and looks far better with its carbon fiber twin cans out back.
Enjoy your Yamaha brother, and be sure to ride safe fellow old timer.

I love the unique R1 look. Sad the 2015 lost it! I tried riding on a 2010 model one, and...damn! Compared to was-mine 'Naomi' R6, the engine is really powerful, including the engine braking...Scared me to the bone! Soo twitchy! I do love the look on the original, though. Cute!

  • @naqshburhan

It feels slow because you're riding in STD mode. Try switching to A mode and the power comes out right away. Also in order to change from F to C, you need to hold the Select Button on Speedo for about 7-8 sec and it will change o Celsius. I own the '09, love the bike.

Hell yeah buddy! SICK bike!!! I HAD my mind set on the CP4 r1 and there was NOTHING or NO ONE that would change that. UNTIL! I stopped at my local Honda dealer for a friend who needed to drop in to purchase a oil filter and oil for his cbr 600rr. And while I am inside for the first 10mins, this damn salesman comes over to me and brings me to the center of their showroom floor and shows me a BRAND NEW cbr 1000rr in matte black with just the right amount of red decals to make it look AWESOME AF!!! IMO. And tells me that this brand new, ZERO MILES, SEXY ASS 1000cc liter bike is a LEFTOVER model from early 2017 that they are in DESPERATE NEED of selling. Shows me the tag hanging off the left side of the clip-ons with the STUPID low price of $9990!!! Although insanely low for a showroom liter bike with ZERO MILES, still wasn't ready to turn my back on my BABY that I been dreaming of owning for so long, the r1 with the cp4 engine. But then he catches me before I walk out the door and tells me his manager says they can let the bike go for ANOTHER $1000 off of the $9990 tag. So $8990 USD for a freaking BRAND NEW cbr 1000rr!!! That is now in my garage! Absoutly LOVE the bike so far. Still a little sad for the yamaha tho. But at that price, I could NOT walk away from what I FEEL is a ONCE IN A LIFETIME deal. So although I don't get to walk out my home and see my DREAM bike, YET! I'm still pretty stoked to have the CBR. And I'm ALMOST POSITIVE I can sell it at the end of this riding season for WELL OVER what I paid for it and make a little money to put towards my BABY!!! So yeah, a 2015 or newer r1 will STILL, 100%, be parked in my garage in the NOT SO DISTANT FUTURE!!! Anyway, love the bike man! Great choice!!!

I sort of agree that the 2014-2016 mt09 isn't one of the best looking bikes but still a good looking bike. Seems to have a very similar setup to what I currently have as well as good weather but with less South African problems lol

I am having trouble deciding what motorcycle I like also. Why are you only going to keep the R1 a year?

A R1 in response to the midlife crisis ... at the age of 40? Nonsense! I am almost 60 years old and drive a tuned Fireblade SC59. It makes me even with almost 60 years fun to drive with the Blade 299 kph on the German Autobahn. And in the corner labyrinth on small roads, I also have great fun.

You have the Grey or parallel import there. It is still amazing bike.

This design is far more better than the new design language of Yamaha.

I'm tossing up between a 2018-2020 MT09 or a 2012-2014 R1, i'm leaning towards the mt09 because the torque seems more suited for the street but i know ill regret my decision if I don't get the R1..
