I've owned pretty much every Japanese liter bike but the R1 is my favorite,I got the toce exhaust on mine as well,I will never get rid of her,the crossplane engine sounds sweet 🏍💨💨
Ok so here me out here. I'm 20 and I just completed my endorsement and my manager has offered me his 2014 r1 ( which is my dream bike) at low mileage for only $2500. It's 1000cc and while i'm one of the safest riders and i'd never do anything stupid, im wondering if it'll be too heavy and powerful to safely handle with little experience. Im 6 foot and 190lb so I can probably handle the weight. I really feel like I wont find a deal like this on my dream bike and any decent sv650 or ninja is easily over 3k in my area. So what im wondering is should I go for it, its the best deal I can find and its my dream bike. Thanks!

Somebody help me out here. I recently purchased a 2012 R1 and it just doesn’t seem to hit like my past 1k’s. I know they’re all about the smooth power, but it seems too smooth. My 2010 GSXR wanted to pull you off the seat. Idk, maybe I just got fat.
ItsMeEricB It’s bone stock from what the previous guy told me. I mean 100% stock. It still has the factory tires. Bald af. If it was flash wouldn’t they have put a more aggressive tune?
ItsMeEricB That is def not normal. Gixxers of every era are bottom-end torque kings. Restricted or unrestricted. Apples to apples of course. Ie same year gsxr vs same year Honda, Yamaha etc. In particular the ‘17 though because they had essentially used the same engine since the k5 slightly modified through 2016.
It's not jerky u just don't know how to drive it. B MODE which you should be using in the rain btw now A mode which is for the track. The B mode is restrictive response aka no surge of power. Around town mode I call it. Standard is a little more. A MODE is the get up and fly mode which is immediate response to throttle input. So you shouldn't be crusing around town in that mode.

2007 model for me. I have a 1/12 model of it that I put together and fell in love with the blue, its just like the one your riding. Probably the only r1 I would get.
I have this bike with only 1200 miles on it totally stock no mods. Break in is 750 miles so it’s barely just over that. If anyone is interested let me know. It’s in brand new shape . Front wheel has never been off the pavement. It’s been babied .

I love how he held his breath @6:00 when he was rolling over the puddle. He knew how dangerous that puddle could be and focused all 110% of his brain on being safe. Got a giggle out of me to be honest.
Less power and more weight than the previous model. And not as good looking. Still a pretty bike in its own way from most angles. The tail is tragic though for 2 reasons; that awkward divider down the middle that makes the whole thing look incredibly tall from the side of the bike. The second being when you look at the bike from the side, the tail is pointing at such a steep angle it looks like a horse taking a shit. Ever seen how they point their tails up out of instinct? Yeah. Try gettin that out of your mind now.
I've got a 2012 R1 Raven edition with unleashed ECU, Euro spec modified airbox and titanium Graves CF exhaust, and it makes 170 rwhp not including ram air, so more like 180 full hp at the rear wheel. Why would I ever need to spend $26k on a 2023? On the street I can barely go past half throttle as it is. I just wheelie wheelie wheelie as it is.
Nice setup! Yeah man most of these bike are too powerful, but some people like the more modern looks or the features. Heck even 600 are a lot of power for the street. 😄
09 R1 owner here , I think your comments were pretty much spot on. Personally, I prefer no abs as I've never had it but what I'm most curious about is; does fuel economy improve with Trac -control? Mine has A, std and C riding modes however it doesn't seem to change mpg at all. Still better than my Tahoe!
Haha! Oh definitely better than the Tahoe! I don’t think there are any fuel economy improvements by using traction control. That is purely to prevent the wheel from slipping when power is too much for the applied setting. Or when you are in a curve and the wheel starts to slip. It will then limit the amount of throttle you are giving the bike.
That is a good question... I like riding the R1 due to how mean it sounds and the bottom end power. Day to day commute I like the GSXR 600 just because more simple to ride. (lighter and no rider aids/computers controlling the bike)
Only at stop and go. Get a lower degree thermostat, flash tunes for these bikes all over have addressed the heat. They flash it to have the fans kick in earlier instead of at 205 which is already hot. Bike gets up to 224 in traffic sitting. 198 riding. Any flash tunes have that option available for this gen. Comes on just before 200 degrees for fans. Plus lower degree thermostat fixes that problem. All bikes are pretty hot now a days so I wouldn't let it bother u much. Personally it's really not that bad
@@itsmeericb That setting really isn't needed for daytime usage in good weather. Just an fyi, a lot of people get nausea from it. FOV is fine, it's just the smoothing setting.

Bit half my tongue off, massive internal bleeding, whole back was purple, i was knocking on deaths door man this was like late December last year. Already walking and preparing back to return to work thanks to some amazing surgeons. But yes i have learnt my lesson!

The local police abandoned chase due to high speed, i however kept going and crashed further up the rd failing to make a bend and hitting a metal guard rail and flew into whatever broke my back. Traffic cameras seen the crash and alerted the emergency people that i was lying somewhere on the rd. Smashed my head and helmet upon impact and suffered brain damage so i was in a state of amnesia for like a week i think. Dont remember anything frm crash man... last thing i remember was dropping a gear and boostin.
I have an sv650 now as a commuter, but I was trying to decide whether I wanted to get a 2008-2011 cbr1000rr, or a 2009-2012 Yamaha R1. It will be a bike for the twisties and weekends as well as the occasional track day. Which of the two would you recommend? It will be my first liter bike.
@@Kryptiik a 600 is a gigantic upgrade in power from an sv650 brother don't let the engine displacement fool u it's a totally different engine layout it's night and day. Going from a 650 twin to a liter bike is an ASTRONOMICAL jump!
Definitely like this generation R1 but I like the 2015 and up a bit better! That CP4 sound has grown on me over the last 2 years. I did a quick ride of an 09 on my channel. It felt pretty good! DOPE video content and quality bro !!! 🔥👌🏾Looking forward to your newer R1 content!

Has it been flashed? My 2017 GSXR 1000 feels like that, as if it doesn’t hit hard like other 1000s. It’s was flashed by the previous owner.
