I feel like David Boston needs to be an honorary mention for multiple trades. Finishes out his rookie contract and the Chargers sign him to a 7 year, $47 million contract with $13 million guaranteed in 2003! NOBODY was getting guaranteed money back then. Played 14 games with the Chargers until Marty suspended him & traded him to the Dolphins for a 6th round pick. He didn’t even make it out of camp for the Dolphins before testing positive for steroids & suspended for 4 games. Then he tore his knee ligaments before he was even served his suspension. Out for the season. Dolphins cut him at the end of his 2nd season - only played 5 games and caught 4 passes for 80 receiving yards for them. Tampa Bay picked him up but was released before the regular season after catching a DUI. Then bounced to the CFL where he caught 2 passes and was forced to retire due to multiple injuries. Boston had SOOOO much potential but squandered it.
Hear me out. Hershal Walker Trade is the worst. The Brown's are not as bad off as the Vikings were at the end of the trade. If the vikings kept those players and picks they may have come out better and may have even won a superbowl. Instead we have the dynasty that is Dallas in the 90s. What did the brown's end up giving the Texan's? Arguably freeing up the team to pick Stroud, that is it. No dynasty, no big all time great players. So Walker deal is the worst.
The Walker trade was more important for the history of the NFL while the Watson trade was worse. The Walker trade made the draft what it is today but it was only a historically bad trade because of the Super Bowls the cowboys won.
Seattle fan here, where is the Jamal Adams trade on this? Both the picks we traded away turned into defensive and offensive rookies of the year, and Adams has played maybe 19 games
I agree with the trubisky trade being on this list, but I personally think he isn’t as bad as people make him out it be. He’s by NO means a starting QB. But if an actual effective coordinator made an offense capable of utilizing his fastball combined with his legs I think he’d be a serviceable QB. Not GOOD. But serviceable.
It's not a major blunder but the Cardinals giving up a first rounder for Hollywood Brown was pretty silly since the Ravens ended up trading back and getting their guy at Center while it was speculated The Cards would deal Hollywood at the trade deadline.
For the Trubisky thing, I always thought Watson was the best QB in that draft (minus hindsight) and I still think he was the best QB choice (again, hindsight excluded). Mahomes would've definitely busted in Chicago
That's the thing. Mahomes HAD to be in KC. Learning behind Alex Smith during his rookie season made Mahomes much better than he probably would have otherwise.
The Watson trade hasn’t worked out but to call it one of the worst trades of all time is just laughably wrong. He’s 4-1 as a starter this year (5-1 if you count the game in Indy where he was taken out in the first quarter due to injury) While he hasn’t been available and that’s been the sole reason why it hasn’t worked out thus far. People are acting like he isn’t a good QB which is just laughable… if you don’t like him as a person just say that… that’s atleast a reasonable take People forget he was rolling and against the ravens going 14-14 in the second half and leading a comeback victory in Baltimore against the best team and arguably best defense in the league. In the games Watson played the browns were absolutely dominating teams which is why he played at most half the 4th quarter in 4 games this year (Bengals, Titans, Colts, Cardinals). He really only played bad against the Steelers and while it was a terrible game from him everyone has a bad day.
Feel like the punchline for the ad should have been “no matter what flavor you’re feeling if you trade it you’ll be on the worst snack trade list soon enough”
As a Vikings fan that can remember being so stoked for the Walker trade. Thank you. We are not the worst trade in NFL history any more. Eff Dallas tho. FR the Stars and Cowboys. We have seen some Some really bad trades in recent years.
I was expecting Carolina trading up to draft Bryce Young only to hand the bears the 1st overall pick the next season would have made the list but I guess it was too soon to truly evaluate because I guess in theory Young could still be good
I love that lions hoodie I have one just like it. I also have #20 Lions jersey signed by Barry but it has Sims on the back and another #20 signed by Billy but it has Sanders on the back
I would argue that if we only considered the trades themselves and not the subsequent crazy contract extensions with loads of guaranteed money that the teams signed their bust to, the Walker trade would probably still be number one, the Watson trade would only be mid-list, and the Russel Wilson trade would be at the bottom or not on the list.
Seahawks trade for Jamal Adams is another one that really stings in hindsight Seahawks Recieve SS Jamal Adams} 4th Rounder 2022 (Coby Bryant) Jets Recieve S Bradley McDougald 1st Round Pick 2021 (Alijah Vera Tucker) 1st Round Pick 2022 (Garett Wilson, OROY) Adams is still with the team, but he also has fallen off compared to his time with the jets and is causing issues off the field as well. Seattle would be a very different team if instead of Adams they had gotten their picks back to draft another stud on the O-line and having DK and Garett Wilson on that offense. Maybe not top 10, but really bad in hindsight, considering the less premium position of safety and how confident I am that most Seattle fans would probably trade JSN for Wilson in a heartbeat in terms of production.
Im about to tattle on myself, but a worse one for the Bears was giving up the 11th pick in the 1997 draft for a certified bust in Rick Meier. A pick that couldve resulted in the Bears getting Tony Gonzalez or Warrick Dunn.
A couple of tid bits. The Ricky Williams trade, the 1st rounder in the following draft ended up being the second overall pick. Russell Wilson trade, he did not ask for that contract extension the Broncos gave him. The Deshaun Watson trade, it never had a chance to work and shows a deeper rot in the organization between the head coach and front office/owners. Watson needs to play a certain way, shotgun, roll outs, 7 step drop backs the few times he does play under center etc. and isn't very good at being under center with 3 step drop backs. So can you guess which way Stefanski has Watson playing most of the time? Yeah under center with 3 step drop backs. Watson and Stefanski do not mesh, it was doomed from the before it began.
Yeah totally agree, the Wilson trade I still still think is terrible without the contract because of how little Seattle was rumored to be willing to take for him so I'd still put it on the list. And yeah even past the stylistic matchup, the Deshaun Watson trade is terrible on every single level imaginable and just gets worse the deeper you look into it,
Can you bundle everything the Panthers have done the last few years into 1? The CMC trade, the Sam Darnold trade, and especially the DJ Moore trade. I was surprised the DJ Moore one alone didn't make the list.
Part of me is glad as a Seahawks fan that the broncos are struggling because it gives us high draft picks especially after we traded ours away for Jamal Adams a few seasons ago. But also, I like the broncos and it sucks seeing Russell struggle.
One thing no one talks about on the Ryan Leaf trade is that the guy who the Cardinals took with the #3 pick they acquired from the chargers was also a huge bust Andre Wadsworth was expected to be the next great pass rusher, instead he lasted 3 years Kind of a lose-lose for both teams
It’s amazing how much the NFL has changed in its view of Running Backs ,,Herschel Walker going for all those players and picks which at the time people thought The Vikings got the better deal …and then the Saints Ricky Willams deal and then a few years later the Dolphins make a huge trade for Willams including first round picks.. Nowadays,, Running backs can’t even get paid.. Or are cut all the time…
The Saints won the Ricky Williams trade... they got three years of elite running back play and cashed that in for two first round picks. The Redskins used all of those Saints picks to get absolutely nothing.
I told my friends at the time that the Seahawks should trade their entire draft class to move up and take Aaron Donald and everyone called me crazy. I've never been as sure of a player coming out of college, and in hindsight he would've been one of only a handful of players in NFL history that actually would've been worth trading an entire draft class for.
I feel bad for a DeAndre Hopkins because if you would have stayed with Houston they probably could have been one of the most dominant teams in the AFC South and I could be wrong but I think he enjoyed Houston
I am agreeing more and more with your ranking as the Deshaun trade as the worst. He hasn't been good at all since the trade, and that 38 year old Joe Flacco came in and played way better is an indictment of the picks and money they gave up to get him. At least as a Bengals fan, I can laugh at how much this has blown up in a division rivals' face.
I was in Cleveland playing poker a couple months after last season finished up. I thought the dude was being sarcastic, but he was dead serious saying "Watson was by far the best QB in the AFC North, and top 3 at worst in the league". I get Brown's fans have suffered, but I didn't think to the point they were completely delirious.
I have to disagree with the #1 on this list. As a Texans fan - my franchise raked in a ton of good players from those picks and got Cleveland to eat the rest of the salary of our most expensive player, allowing us to rebuild with a lot of draft capital and cap space around a phenomenal rookie QB on a rookie scale contract. Pretty good trade if you ask me. 😉
The Panthers trading up to get Bryce Young #1 overall, giving up the first overall pick the following year in a better draft, 2 2nd rounders and DJ Moore has to be up there.
What really cracks me up about the Wilson trade is Seattle got two high first round picks, and I stead of doing something smart, they opted to stick with Geno lol
The trade to #1 for Bryce young is the single worst trade ever. We got the #1 overall pick by TRADING the #1 overall pick...and #9 pick last year...and two second rounders, and if somehow thats not bad enough, DJ Moore. All of this in the class where we passed on CJ Stroud.
Maybe I'm biased, but I would have thought the Seahawks trade for Jamal Adams would make it somewhere on this list. 2021 1st, 2021 3rd, 2022 1st, McDougald (Safety) for 2022 4th, Adams (Safety)
That Ricky Williams trade still baffles me to this day. Every. Single. Draft Pick. Ricky was a beast as a Longhorn so I can’t blame them, actually you can wtf.
Lets not forget the fact that those picks the Saints gave up were originally supposed to bw traded to the Bengals. And the Bengals declined and took Akili Smith.
Before the lists starts, I'm just going to say the Russ trade isn't even the worst trade the Bronco's have ever done. They traded quite a bit to the Ravens to move back into the first round to pick Tim Tebow.
The #9 one still pisses me off. There was ZERO reason for that bad of a trade. It may have been more platable id they got a 1st Round Draft Pick out of it, but they didn't. Bill O'Brian essentially told D-Hop that he is the equivalent to a 2nd round pick and a washed up RB.
It’s crazy and a bit disgusting to me that as awful as the Watson trade was, somehow it could work out for them if Flacco can somehow keep his magic going through the playoffs because it seems really unlikely he ends up their starter in any other scenario. So if the result of the most foolish and morally dubious trade of all time is a Super Bowl win, players might want to reconsider thanking God for when they win because it would seem that the divine arbiter of the NFL is that OTHER guy.
How is the OJ Simpson trade not even on the list. It is certainly one of the top 3 worst trades of all time. In 1979 the Niners traded a 1st, two 2nds, a 3rd and 4th for a broken down OJ Simpson and his 812 knee operations. OJ never did anything of note for the Niners and SF was hamstrung in the next two drafts.

Russell Wilson: “you ever done anything dangerous?”
Me: “yeah, trading for you”
For the Trubisky thing, I always thought Watson was the best QB in that draft (minus hindsight) and I still think he was the best QB choice (again, hindsight excluded). Mahomes would've definitely busted in Chicago
That's the thing. Mahomes HAD to be in KC. Learning behind Alex Smith during his rookie season made Mahomes much better than he probably would have otherwise.
Bryce Young for Darnell Wright, DJ Moore, Tyrique Stevenson, the 2024 No.1 Overall Pick and a 2025 top50 pick 😅😂😆
Carolina got fleeced by Chicago !!
The Watson trade hasn’t worked out but to call it one of the worst trades of all time is just laughably wrong.
He’s 4-1 as a starter this year (5-1 if you count the game in Indy where he was taken out in the first quarter due to injury)
While he hasn’t been available and that’s been the sole reason why it hasn’t worked out thus far. People are acting like he isn’t a good QB which is just laughable… if you don’t like him as a person just say that… that’s atleast a reasonable take
People forget he was rolling and against the ravens going 14-14 in the second half and leading a comeback victory in Baltimore against the best team and arguably best defense in the league.
In the games Watson played the browns were absolutely dominating teams which is why he played at most half the 4th quarter in 4 games this year (Bengals, Titans, Colts, Cardinals). He really only played bad against the Steelers and while it was a terrible game from him everyone has a bad day.
Feel like the punchline for the ad should have been “no matter what flavor you’re feeling if you trade it you’ll be on the worst snack trade list soon enough”
idk why is so funny to me when a head coach gets fired lol
As a Vikings fan that can remember being so stoked for the Walker trade.
Thank you. We are not the worst trade in NFL history any more.
Eff Dallas tho. FR the Stars and Cowboys.
We have seen some Some really bad trades in recent years.
Jamal adams has to be on the list. Seahawks traded two first round picks for an average linebacker
I was expecting Carolina trading up to draft Bryce Young only to hand the bears the 1st overall pick the next season would have made the list but I guess it was too soon to truly evaluate because I guess in theory Young could still be good
Same but let’s at least give Young til the end of his rookie contract.
You forgot to mention that that first round pick turned into one of the best rookie quarterbacks of all time CJ Stroud
that was the Texan's pick in the 2023 draft not the Browns
Oh
Loving that Lions hoodie!
marshawn lynch to seattle was a robbery as a bills fan
Ironically wearing a Lions hoodie in the vid who was apart of one of the best win-win trades of all time (Stafford/Goff)
I love that lions hoodie I have one just like it. I also have #20 Lions jersey signed by Barry but it has Sims on the back and another #20 signed by Billy but it has Sanders on the back
As a Seahawks fan… it’s actually the best trade of all time😂😂😂
I would argue that if we only considered the trades themselves and not the subsequent crazy contract extensions with loads of guaranteed money that the teams signed their bust to, the Walker trade would probably still be number one, the Watson trade would only be mid-list, and the Russel Wilson trade would be at the bottom or not on the list.
Seahawks trade for Jamal Adams is another one that really stings in hindsight
Seahawks Recieve
SS Jamal Adams}
4th Rounder 2022 (Coby Bryant)
Jets Recieve S Bradley McDougald
1st Round Pick 2021 (Alijah Vera Tucker)
1st Round Pick 2022 (Garett Wilson, OROY)
Adams is still with the team, but he also has fallen off compared to his time with the jets and is causing issues off the field as well.
I agree that the bears picking trubisky was the word pick and bears history
Cowboys winning 3 SB makes the Herschel Walker trade the worst
This is someone who knows too much Ball
Yeah totally agree, the Wilson trade I still still think is terrible without the contract because of how little Seattle was rumored to be willing to take for him so I'd still put it on the list.
And yeah even past the stylistic matchup, the Deshaun Watson trade is terrible on every single level imaginable and just gets worse the deeper you look into it,
7:02 walker went back to the cowboys after the Vikings released him
And Hershel Walker ended up back with the Cowboys a few years later.
I only recently got into football but your videos have made it very easy to go back through time and stay updated thank you
The Panthers trading up for Bryce Young could definitely turn into one of the worst trades of all time if Bryce doesnt improve
Especially if the Bears take Caleb and he and DJ Moore go off in 24
One thing no one talks about on the Ryan Leaf trade is that the guy who the Cardinals took with the #3 pick they acquired from the chargers was also a huge bust
Andre Wadsworth was expected to be the next great pass rusher, instead he lasted 3 years
Kind of a lose-lose for both teams
It’s amazing how much the NFL has changed in its view of Running Backs ,,Herschel Walker going for all those players and picks which at the time people thought The Vikings got the better deal …and then the Saints Ricky Willams deal and then a few years later the Dolphins make a huge trade for Willams including first round picks.. Nowadays,, Running backs can’t even get paid.. Or are cut all the time…
I'd still say it's the Walker trade. Yes, Watson was singed to the crazy contract, but the Walker trade included 18 total players.
My favorite thing about the Watson trade is the existence of the movie Draft Day
I feel bad for a DeAndre Hopkins because if you would have stayed with Houston they probably could have been one of the most dominant teams in the AFC South and I could be wrong but I think he enjoyed Houston
As a Texans fans, seeing Groper Cleveland on this was at 1 GREAT!!!!
At least the Browns found their franchise guy...in Joe Flacco.
Honey wakeup, the new Longford Ben video just dropped
I have to disagree with the #1 on this list.
As a Texans fan - my franchise raked in a ton of good players from those picks and got Cleveland to eat the rest of the salary of our most expensive player, allowing us to rebuild with a lot of draft capital and cap space around a phenomenal rookie QB on a rookie scale contract.
Pretty good trade if you ask me. 😉
Pretty sure we drafted Champ Bailey and Lavar Arrington with the Saints picks. Not really sure how we did nothing with them
The Panthers trading up to get Bryce Young #1 overall, giving up the first overall pick the following year in a better draft, 2 2nd rounders and DJ Moore has to be up there.
Watson would best serve Cleveland from the bottom of Lake Erie.
Crazy how in hindsight the Watson trade looks even worse for the browns now seeing how the players picked up have done for HOU
What really cracks me up about the Wilson trade is Seattle got two high first round picks, and I stead of doing something smart, they opted to stick with Geno lol
Being a DETROIT DIE HARD FAN. Great shirt 🦁
If you haven’t already, do Worst Busts in NFL history.
The Watson trade is even worse now since baker proved he wasn’t the problem in Cleveland in his stint in Tampa
You didn’t list the Watson trade as worse than the Wilson one. That’s fucking ridiculous. He’s 5-1 this year still on the team and injured.
You should do the 10 worst cuts of NFL history lol
Damn Ricky Williams. I really miss watching him in Miami. Dude was legit
Maybe I'm biased, but I would have thought the Seahawks trade for Jamal Adams would make it somewhere on this list.
2021 1st, 2021 3rd, 2022 1st, McDougald (Safety)
for
2022 4th, Adams (Safety)
That Ricky Williams trade still baffles me to this day. Every. Single. Draft Pick. Ricky was a beast as a Longhorn so I can’t blame them, actually you can wtf.
You can’t put the Watson deal as number 1 yet. He still has 3 years left. If he flops in those 3 years then yes.
Washington didn't do anything with the saint's picks
Champ Bailey "Am I a joke to you?"
The Chargers found TWO 'pretty good' QBs shortly after drafting Ryan Leaf: Brees in '01 and Rivers in '04.
Honorable mention: AJ Brown to the Eagles for the 18th and 101st overall draft pick.
