This is what i like about mr2. Nowhere to be seen. Saw one like 2 months ago and i was like what is this. Because it was debadged. Looking into it for months now. Need to build a garage for it. BUt next year i will have to get one for sure. 2zz swap. Coils, wheels and semi track setup for it. Loads of fun for half the price of boxter or similiar cars. Miatas are all rusted out or drifted to death at this point. This looks like bargain fun.
@ had the same mentality before I got mine, I feel you. I fell in love with it after randomly seeing it on google in 2018 (the blue one with yellow fog lights, rpf1’s, trd lip and facelift headlights) and a year later bought one in 2019. Didn’t even know manual but I learned on it. I hope you get one because you won’t regret it.
Have been a aw11 owner and enthusiast for 26 years, love em! Had a handful, now unfortunately only 2 left. The original I bought in 1995 and one I bought in 2006, it's my track car. I have a mr-s spyder now for nearly a year. Must say, what a pleasure to drive! IMO the 1zz pushes the chassis better than what people make out, nice torquey engine for street duties and weekend spirited runs. A small turbo would compliment it well. The 2zz doesn't appeal to me as you gotta rev the ringer out of it. Guess I'm more of a torque fan, my track car is twincharged and I love the torque from that! Just a shame the aw11 is so damn heavy. The mr-s spyder is a great car for sure, very good handling. Shame I have to sell mine.
Sound like you have a lot of experience with the mr2s great cars it’s a shame you have to sell the mrs Spyder but at least you have had a good experience 👍
Thanks appreciate your support love doing the cinematic style but also want to add more specific information and advice need to get back to making more videos really
This is awesome , like the biuld and that wing too, saw a test drive of the same model with active wing by VictorRacing fitted the handle was awesome on this beast
I got almost the very same car. The steering wheel is on the other side of the car but also the same car. I can take off as fast as a turned 370Z and easily out corner it. It is an amazing car. My rev limiter is set at 8,450 RPMs. It is so much fun to drive.
Happy to see you back. Funny, I was at a car show today and saw a really nice Noble W12 and thought about you and your channel. Did you escape the monastery? 🤣🤣🤣
Ugg.. Got a 2000 Mostly stock MR2/MRS (currently 62K miles), I picked up for 4K US a few years ago in Montana.. Videos like this make me want to drop some cash and see what it can really do!!
I miss my 89 supercharged MR2. It was slightly modified and I was considering doing a 3S-GTE swap or a twincharger system but it ended up going to a new home. I'm considering getting another MR2. A MKI, MKII, or maybe a Spyder... after watching a bunch of videos of modified Spyders, some with 500+ HP, they definitely gained my interest! I love middle-engined cars, including the Pantera, Ultima GTR/RS, but the MR2s are more within what I want to spend on another toy. The Noble you had (which got me into checking out your channel) was pretty amazing! Why did you get rid of it? Just looking for the next project to work on?
Nice I had the noble for years and spend a lot of money on it, the thing with small British sports car companies is that after buying a noble/Ultima/lotus you have to get used to either working on it yourself or paying for recovery’s and paying mechanic’s who want silly money to work on them so in the end the reliability was the issue I broke the noble more times than I remember, after owning a e92 m3 which was heavily modified it was very reliable and after having owned many British sports cars I got sick of the maintenance so now I’m going mainly Japanese or German
Would get great power but just adds a lot of weight I would think about carbon fibre rear body parts to get the weight back down again after, personally I love the mr2 with the 2zz but each to there own
Great edit, always cool to see the MR-S in 2023 ! i'm upgrading mine right now, such a pleasure to unleash that underrated beast with a cool exhaust setting and some mods !
2ZZ is very nice into the MR-S, and provide great feelings. But it lacks of real punch. I put MWR rods and 10.5:1 Mahle piston set, and I'm currrently installing a Rotrex C30-94 supercharger for a 400bhp power target. I hope it will change my 'ricer' for a supercar :)
I briefly piloted a 1ZZ with a Rotrex (cant remember the exact one but it was one of smaller ones), it had only around 200hp but it was a BLAST. The firewall had a latch cut for ease of access to the supercharger and other intake-side bits, and the BOV was looking directly at the driver through that hatch, the noises were absurd.... Bottom end was stock and didn't last, I was not careful and let it push around 12psi. First engine went due to a violent hydrolock bending a rod (air to water intercooler failure), on the next engine the rods came out through the block to say hello. Still, was beyond fun, launched like nothing else, drifting it was a nail biting experience. This car is a pure gem and I'm happy it's unknown; I'm sure in the future I'll prepare one for fun, there's nothing comparable for similar money.
@@Mexerxes I think that my 10:5 2ZZ N/A was about 180BHP. It was fun, but il will be awesome with the supercharger. I broke the stock 1ZZ engine, and also the first 2ZZ swap from MagEngines. That's why I decided to put forged rods and pistons. I also changed the oil pan to a Moroso. Sorry for the "Hydrolock" :S I have put a big air-air intercooler with 2 fans. I just need to install the GReedy FV2 BoV and then the ECU !
is this the 3.9 or 4.5 final gear on the box? flywheel type? Just blew my 3rd gear on my 2zz this summer and have a gearbox coming from the uk 6lsd. trying to decided if i want to put my 4.5 in it from my c60.
Hi yes it will in a straight line but it’s heavy and ruins the balance, if you drove it on its limits in corners/braking back to back with a 2zz swap or just 1zz stock lump it’s easy to notice that the 1.8t lump or k20 etc ruins the chassis unfortunately great for straight lines tho
I remeber when this version was released and thought what a disappointment (compared to the OG MR2) and thought it looked like a hairdressers car but this is awesome!
Very perceptive of you I was driving the car for a little while before the video when we started filming the lift stopped working after the video I looked at the engine and found that the mesh that acts as a filter for the lift solenoid had some debris in the mesh once cleaned worked fine again I tried to remain positive while making the video and not let it dampen the review but again well noticed!
No but I personally love the shifter extension with solid shifter bushes and a short shifter and shifter extension it makes the gear changes so much more satisfying!
It looks really nice with the spliiters and rear wing ... true racecar vibes.
What a treat, I am so happy to see you again!

I dislike how underrated this car is. If it got the aftermarket support the Miata got imagine where it would be o.O
Yes totally agree with you

@MatoVapenik I agree had several mx5s they rust badly and I like the rear engine layout one of the most enjoyable cars I’ve owned

What aftermarket support? Like what items? There's plenty of stuff out there to buy for the mr2
Nice to have you back with the car reviews, that car looked like it handled on rails.
Cheers mate and it’s an epic little motor that one 💯

Thanks appreciate the support 👍
Good to see you back mate! 🤙
👊👊
I heard you unlocked a Xbox360 achievement at 6:48. Currently doing a 1.8t swap, would love a comparison.
Haha 😂 yes I would also love to compare would make a great video I’m currently doing a lot of changes to my mr2 roadster atm
@@feathersandtarmac6456 What route are you going down?
Your cinematic video shoots are insane, I'm shocked I've only just come across this channel!

Cheers Eddie,
Managed to stay free for now 😂
You're back! No slippers this time 😂 Also, nice bit of road you're running about on
Haha left my slippers in my Volvo 😂
This was great subbed
👊👊
Great video👍 I know what you mean about the 1zz and 2zz just fills free to rev and the 1zz fills restricted in my Mr2
Totally agree
Mr2 mk3 with 2zz = near perfect car

I’ve had loads of top cars the mr2 when modified correctly is simple brilliant
Glad you're back Jacob 🙂👌🏻
Glad to be back Mark 👊

I'm looking at fitting a 1.8T bam engine.

Is that an MR2 badge or sticker in the side?
Old style Toyota emblem sticker

Awesome should be very fast!
Maybe fast, for sure, furious :D
MWR is good but they've gotten so expensive these days.

My mechanic put a C60 in mine and that sixth year is almost like overdrive for the interstate or turnpikes. I call it the be quiet gear.
The VW 1.8T engine swap transforms this thing into pure insanity.

Absolute weapon and pukka editing. The want for the car is strong 👍
One of my favourites now pal
Fantastic car review 😂
Glad you liked it
I remeber when this version was released and thought what a disappointment (compared to the OG MR2) and thought it looked like a hairdressers car but this is awesome!
😎😎
WOOOOOO
dope
👊
2zz needs to be driven and kept above 6000rpm to feel the bump from 1zz. Until 6k rpm, they are pretty much same, 1zz has better low/mid range.
Imagine the 2zz with supercharger in this car😎 it came out in the corolla like that
✅ maybe I should do that….
Long time no see. 👍
👊👍👍
Exige ecu longer lift.
Nice 👍
He's severely short shifting. If that's really a 2zz he's shifting nearly 1800 rpm too short. Also can't hear lift kick in at all.
I plan to do another video about the car as a lot of changes have been made
The owner of that Spyder drives a truck for a living?? WTF is up with that HIDEOUS sifter... that's RIDICULOUS!
