Oi oi just noticed who u are.Remember u from the Adam Smith vlog u did.Man u have some awesome car’s the mk2 escorts are close to my heart as I grew up with them though u have some real stunning machines. I am subbed now and will watch through some of your vlogs but am looking forward to seeing your grey mk2 progress so good luck with it all pal good stuff👍🏼
Thanks John, yes i was on Adams channel, Im busy working through them all and other peoples car like this escort ive just sorted. As soon as this TME Evo is sold ill be back on the mk2
I used to buy and sell these and I’ll tell you about Cosworth managed I managed to buy a Sierra Cosworth and since 1997 I’ve always had a Cosworth and sometimes a few at once That’s how I managed
It would but this is a dinosaur of an ecu, from 1987, these are from the days where you would need to either put a piggy back board in the ecu or run a "chip" I wish it was that easy sadly it isn't, it's another reason why ive recommended him to upgrade it to a modern spec setup but as is its running so he's happy to leave as is
you forgot to mention it's not running an escort rs engine or those who think they know but obviously don't, for those who pretty know that's fiesta efi setup where as escort rs turbo runs an mfi setup.
It's actually an efi block but running what looks like a sierra twincam crank sensor setup, managed by a sierra cosworth ecu loom and injectors using a fiesta efi inlet manifold modified to accept a sierra cosworth throttle body, there's not much fiesta efi in there except the Inlet manifold, I think even the heads a MFI with an adapter plate.
@@dave280585 what a bastardised setup, when I had my rs I binned off all the stupid after market shit and it ran so much better, I just got my standard ecu chipped so I could run 15psi boost (I only ran that pressure on the rolling road) on the actual road I was running at 10psi with no issue other than a touch of clutch slip when hot
Nothing wrong at all with standard setups, for the power this is running a standard mfi setup would have been much better, people get sucked into this cossie management conversion I think its absolutely shit, if going efi a simple DTA t2 is suffice
@@dave280585 couldn't agree more, mine had adjustable cam pulley and some shit after market electronic boost controller, binned them both off and fitted a manual boost control, and a nice set of Burton power lifters which got rid of the standard cvh rattle
@@dave280585 definitely. The price ford stuff is going for the cossie ecu and throttle body would sell for a big chunk of dta too! So wouldnt even be much of an outlay
Superb video! We all love retro hot hatches , hello from the Highlands of Scotland
That we do, and thanks, I've plenty more 70s 80s and 90s all different too to keep you all busy 😉
@@dave280585 good to hear

Question, would the ecu display on a laptop not have picked up the broken wires/sensor?

Salvage and Classics fair enough, I have heard they aren’t the best but have no experience with them.

Adam smith came and looked round all my cars last month lol
@@dave280585 yeh man great video I remember it now ❤
That cossie management is shite. Dont know why people went that route with old crap rather than aftermarket stuff.
100% agree, I've recommended he upgraded it to a simple DTA

@@NickthaGeek fully agree, owner doesn't want to spend the money while this is working, if it was mine I'd fire it all for sale lol
