Fuel relay or pump! Defo could hear it prime the fuel. And if you doing it do it right and just upgrade for a better pump and wireing . The old wires seen it days . From my experiences once I’ve own one and had to change mine then even after 15 year I then replaced it coz voltage it key in this system and the wiring decay . Also upgrade the fuel line as you are doing it. End result are satisfying. And you know it all done . Go as far as the fuel tank to the fuel unit.
I got a Hayes manual and tinker with mine till today ! Keep the video coming like to see the progress in other work. These cars become anit to much keep standard or up grade ? The keep question. As all Ford Rs owner the will say leave standard ! But do the right mods ! Brakes refurbished no one , two fuel systems , three engine temps ( with could be like changing the thermostat for a early open one forget what temp thermostat. Let say it a 90 thermostat u can get one that open up at 80 . Then let talk radiator and coolent pipes. Water pump? Etc then there belts if you doing water do your oil pump for the uprated one , and as with doing one your do it all oil piles lol.
Oil cooler if doing all . These few tasteful mods are really maintain and improvements. As we all know how the braking on these stand were hit and miss if they warmed up after a good hammering the brake fuel would burn up and need changing regular. They run hot also so any thing to keep it 😎 . Then changing pipes are a key coz there so old they all perish. And become weak point. Im working through mine for next summer . Have 60 % of the car upgrade in a spare room at me house . Just got to the point it on stands and waiting for bit time off. Where I can get under the car and give it a winter under car wash and clean. The redo the whole under side .
Hi thanks for the comment, I’m going to try keep the RS as standard as possible but I fully agree good modification to keep reliable and good maintenance is key to keeping classic cars on the road.👍
I thought someone had been filming at home! Iv got a red 80's spec rs in a long thin garage at home. Great content. Ill be watching closely to give me some motovation to do mine up 👍

I’d actually take the engine out and give it a good proper clean and paint up and that would allow you to do an engine bay refurb too. But enjoying your work and progress so far. PS: if you’re looking at this as a bit of an investment then originality is king. Don’t like the side decals at all.

Pink relay fuel pump or pump , and check the air flow meter isn't blocked I've had this issue before.

Can’t remember now, was there not a cut off switch in the boot too that could trip.
Nice standard example you have there. Re the fuel issue check the purple fuel relay under the dash. These are prone to failing.
