On an 2 valve engine it matters a lot more because you need the big bore to get adequate valve area. This was noticeable on a Chevy 302 vs 305. Good video. The only statistic I found a little odd was the LFA making 90% of its torque between 3,000 and 9,000 rpm. That’s practically the entire rev range minus idle, so that’s not saying much about its torque characteristics

Can definitely appreciate the cutting edge technology in the LFA but I love how simple and brutish the Viper V10 is. Seems agricultural in comparison, with the OHV and 2V/cylinder, but it's just monstrous torque the whole way. And I love that.
I’m a Audi fan so it would be the Audi for me. That doesn’t change the fact that the LFA sounds amazing. One of the best failed Halo cars of all time. Toyota should try again but not make the same mistakes they made on the first one and nothing of this EV crap lol.

0:42 "even piston are aluminium", 99% cars have aluminum pistons most are aluminum or aluminum silicon mix that is usually over 12.5% silicon called hypereutectic cast. And 5:01 Lexus has forged aluminum pistons.
The Lexus website says they are forged but not what metal or alloy... Mostly racing Diesel engines and heavy duty applications use them where weights not much of a concern but strength is. Something that revs to 9K is more than likely going to have aluminum pistons.
@@madjimms I watched the guy on UA-cam “Idocars” and he did a full teardown of a viper engine and the pistons had the typical aluminum color to them. Great teardown video btw
@@papastratos99 That's for the 3.3L V6 diesel. Also the Gen5 Viper has forged aluminum pistons that weigh around 400g each or around 550g with a wrist pin.
Any of these would be orsm to see in a project car in Australia 🇦🇺 or a ski racing boat ... Probably go the Lexus engine for boat due to its size and weight...another great video Keep them coming 👌
5v is not that great. 5 Valves was an interesting experiment but 4 valves works better, makes more power, is less complicated and costs less to build. Not only is it a real estate issue with five valves, but intake camshaft design is really complicated by the three valves. The center intake valves opens at a different time from the other two simultaneously opening intake valves, and theoretically this provides more overlap without resorting to radical camshaft timing. Great theory, four valves work better with simpler camshaft profiles.
For me all three engines are awesome but I have to give Audi the win by a big margin considering it is a mass production unit outperforming the Lexus and the Viper on more levels than one it’s way more successful and advanced, Lexus is very expensive to.
The Viper sounds like someone rolling their "Rs" as much as I love it for being a deadly torque machine that anyone can have if they really want it, the LFA is a work of fine art that will go down in history as the greatest V10 ever made.
According to dodge’s service manual, that viper V10 had a service life from 250k to 350k miles with regular maintenance which is impressive for the time period.
It can last quite a bit longer than that if you keep the revs lower, add a better oil cooler , and step down the oil weight. Also would need to use an aftermarket Thermostat that opens up at a slightly lower temp.
As a major Ford guy, I would have loved to see for make a performance variant of their 6.8L Triton V10. They did experiment with the V10 idea, adding on another pair of cylinders to the 4.6L Modular V8, and replacing many of the internals with aluminum. It was a 5.8L DOHC V10, and was tested in a Mustang. Wish they went further with it. But if I had to choose an engine here, it would probably be the Viper V10. Good old American muscle and they sound killer. I always loved the Viper
The LFA is the greatest sounding car of all time tbh and it shows if Japanese people do wanna make something great they can not to mention Supra, r34, rx7, evo also beating Ferrari with nsx
The viper is the realest engine. Not for show, status or clout. It's for absolutely nothing but dedicated track racing, I respect the other 2 but the viper v10 series will never have a candle held to it
5:04 Forged *steel* pistons ??? As this video is about super car engines , I won't be choosing the one from a truck. Naturally I'd choose the engine developed with Yamaha - the one that hits its 9000 rpm red line in 0.6 seconds.
All of these engines are awesome in their own right. I see some people saying that the Audi engine is underwhelming, but let’s not forget that it is this engine line that powers the Huracan.
Well, I've had to pleasure to listen to an LFA three times. I don't know who the owner is in New Orleans but dear all that is unholy, the LFA has presence. It is the greatest sounding V10 in existence. Saw it once on Lakeshore drive and my daughter heard it. She's doesn't even like cars. When she heard the LFA, she immediatly told me, "Dad that car's engine sounds like a screaming banshee." I could care less what anyone states it about being a Toyota. When you realize the Toyota/Lexus didn't even profit on the LFA because of the cost of engineering that went into making it is even mind blowing. The reconstructed factory Toyota created for the LFA. The amount of research into materials chemistry and the number of outside scientist Toyota hired was nothing short of amazing. New machinery and methods were created for the carbon weaving process. Lastly, Toyota proved to the world, like Honda did with the NSX, you can make super cars that are incredibly reliable.
The LFA has also forged aluminium pistons, not steel. I feel stupid for the mistakes occuring in the videos, huge apologies! Don’t let that distract you away from the pure beauty of these engines

@@realspeedghxst there isn't any high milage LFA so noone could say, but price wise to maintain def a lot higher
Loving your videos!
Can definitely appreciate the cutting edge technology in the LFA but I love how simple and brutish the Viper V10 is. Seems agricultural in comparison, with the OHV and 2V/cylinder, but it's just monstrous torque the whole way. And I love that.
Also if you want to strap turbos onto them the viper is going to slaughter the others.
Lexus is and will always be the best v10 in my brain, forever
i would easily pick the lfa there is nothing that can beat the sound of that thing
Eh, they sound almost synthetic in person
Literally any S85 with an Eisennman exhaust. Sit down.
@@InsaneBimmer ey the e60 is one of my favourite cars despite the looks I would say it is second or third in the list of v10s
@footballcoreano damn what did you smoke
Lexus all day. Best sounding v10 ever.
I’m a Audi fan so it would be the Audi for me. That doesn’t change the fact that the LFA sounds amazing. One of the best failed Halo cars of all time. Toyota should try again but not make the same mistakes they made on the first one and nothing of this EV crap lol.
LFA's go for 1mill now. Didn't necessarily fail
As a true car guy you gotta respect all three engines .
Viper v10 all the torque and the roar
Audi v10 as Audi doe's , not exceptional just good everywhere "the great compromise "
Lexus v10 screaming f1 like engine
Would have loved to see bmw v10 and Carrera v10 too
My favorite is the Lexus LFA!
Next one, bring the Bmw V10 m5 e60 and the porsche carrera gt! Great video
LFA najkrajšie vyzerajúce a znejúce auto na svete!🙂
The Lexus for its lovely sound! 😍
I love the Lexus simply because I love the sound.
For pure sound the Lexus LFA is by far the best, one of the best sounding engines ever
I love the LFA sound 🥰
I have to say I loved the sound of 5.0 Lamborghini v10 way more than 5.2 Audi one but you can't shake the fact that 5.2 is absolutely bullet proof engine it's crazy that people make over 800 horsepower on it and still put 50k+ miles on it
Great video. It's sad to think that these wonderful pieces of engineering are being vilified and forced into extinction 😢👎
The LFA just sounds incredible!
I like the LFA but, all 3 are beautiful and sound great. It's time for Lexus / Yamaha to show the world they can still build a super car (LFA2) or (LFA-EV).
Reminder that the LFA costs more than the other two combined.
all sound beautiful, but that Lexus is something special!
0:42 "even piston are aluminium", 99% cars have aluminum pistons most are aluminum or aluminum silicon mix that is usually over 12.5% silicon called hypereutectic cast. And 5:01 Lexus has forged aluminum pistons.
are you sure about the LFA? not saying you are wrong because I am genuinely curious, but I know for a fact the new land cruiser 300 uses steel pistons
The Lexus website says they are forged but not what metal or alloy... Mostly racing Diesel engines and heavy duty applications use them where weights not much of a concern but strength is. Something that revs to 9K is more than likely going to have aluminum pistons.
In the 90s the viper engine probably used forged steel? It is an older design right
@@madjimms I watched the guy on UA-cam “Idocars” and he did a full teardown of a viper engine and the pistons had the typical aluminum color to them.
Probably go the Lexus engine for boat due to its size and weight...another great video
Keep them coming 👌
The Audi V10 is so close to great, but they chose FSi instead of 5V so 3/10
5v is not that great.
LFA, by far the most special car in this trio
LFA is the best sounding car of all time.
Great video! again
LFA has F1 exhaust sound 😍
Great content again. I would definitely pick the LFA of this trio. Wish you had the S85 out of my M5 BMW 🙂
For me all three engines are awesome but I have to give Audi the win by a big margin considering it is a mass production unit outperforming the Lexus and the Viper on more levels than one it’s way more successful and advanced, Lexus is very expensive to.
Audi simplly can't match the engineering of LFA
@@KingKong-xp6so not because they can’t, its because the Audi V10 is designed to be made in larger numbers. The Audi also makes more power.
@@KingKong-xp6so lmao no. No need to make a better V10 if no one's gonna buy it anyway, just look at your lexus. it literally had a hard time selling.
@@android175 Toyota also could produce twice number of Audi and engine power as well if they wanted to. They wanted to make an iconic car unlike Audi
@@Turbo.RF4 no one gonna buy it? Lmao many LFA even sold way more than original price. And all cars have been sold out.
The Viper sounds like someone rolling their "Rs" as much as I love it for being a deadly torque machine that anyone can have if they really want it, the LFA is a work of fine art that will go down in history as the greatest V10 ever made.
Sound only I'd take the Lexus V10. Sounds like an F1 V10 when they sounded the best!
Definitely prefer the sound of the American viper V10 but the Audi does sing amazingly
I don't think there's a single bad-sounding v10 out there.
The best sound is from Lexus, but only among these three, but among many cars
As a major Ford guy, I would have loved to see for make a performance variant of their 6.8L Triton V10. They did experiment with the V10 idea, adding on another pair of cylinders to the 4.6L Modular V8, and replacing many of the internals with aluminum. It was a 5.8L DOHC V10, and was tested in a Mustang. Wish they went further with it. But if I had to choose an engine here, it would probably be the Viper V10. Good old American muscle and they sound killer. I always loved the Viper
The Yamaha Lexus! Best sounding engine!!!
The Viper ACR was a beast. When introduced in 2016 they kicked everyone's ass!
Viper is the best idc
The Viper with a Calvo stoker kit to 9.0 liters is the most epic N/A engine I ever see and manual like it should be.
The LFA is the greatest sounding car of all time tbh and it shows if Japanese people do wanna make something great they can not to mention Supra, r34, rx7, evo also beating Ferrari with nsx
Between the viper and the Lexus would be my choice. Definitely one of those two for sure
The viper is the realest engine. Not for show, status or clout. It's for absolutely nothing but dedicated track racing, I respect the other 2 but the viper v10 series will never have a candle held to it
This video layout is smooth as silk my guy.
The LFA sounds great, but the immediate torque from the viper has to be so nice
Audi all the way :)
You should put a Audi V10 in your Gaz, might save a bit on fuel 😅
I'm sorry to hear that :P
Lots of twin turbo kits for the Audi.
Not if u need too do ur timing chain lol every 50000 miles do too over heating remember were the timing chain is
Careful, because WW3 and American Civil War has broken out in the comment section.
They all sound good. The Lexus sounds like a super car where there Viper sounds more like a truck with light muffler.
5:04 Forged *steel* pistons ???
As this video is about super car engines , I won't be choosing the one from a truck.
Naturally I'd choose the engine developed with Yamaha - the one that hits its 9000 rpm red line in 0.6 seconds.
Aluminium, very sorry!
All of these engines are awesome in their own right. I see some people saying that the Audi engine is underwhelming, but let’s not forget that it is this engine line that powers the Huracan.
Viper all the way
Got to be the sound of LFA, power of the Viper, efficiency of the Audi
