Saw him play this alone on stage in 1999 in Vancouver at the Commodore Ballroom in front of a crowd of a couple hundred people in the dark lit up only by that small glowing globe. It was beautiful and magical. The few of us in attendance knew this unknown band was destined for stardom. There were people in tears it was so good.
no one understands how much i want to live in this generation, everyone was happy, no social media, no cellphones or internet. People just had fun without having to check their phones 24/7. The world was fun, not toxic, kids could just be kids and especially no online school, quarantine or just fucking covid in general. We'll never get this life back...
THose are some rose colored glasses you've got on.... not everyone was happy, lots of shit happening, bullying still existed, 9/11 - war on terror, 2008 financial crisis
It was amazing. Just as you said. I went to concerts and festivals all the time. You met people like you going out and doing the things you loved. You just needed a watch for the train to get home. It was the happiest time of my life & I feel blessed beyond words to keep it close to my heart. I loved this song so much. 🥲
The late 90s and early 00s were better decade for me for the music and I never been to any nightclubs or any concerts or any festivals in my entire life unfortunely but after 5 years later passing by the music industry never the same as before.
2000 : I was just 18 years old..finished high school..chilled out with my friends while waiting call ups for college..this is one of my all time fav songs..what a fucking memory..
Okay, so maybe their recent music isnt comparable, but THIS is the coldplay i grew up with, and i’ll always defend them because this is truly beautiful music !
Who would imagine that 22 years from that concert Coldplay would be one the biggest bands in history! Their concerts are sold out very quickly, these guys are a good example of determination, perseverance and a lot of talent 💜
and btw that switch from smiling to serious face when he wanted to start playing is great. it shows that he invests so much emotions in his singing. not like those singers who sing a sad song while laughing
I love this song because it brings me into another world. A world where I forget about all my current my problems and just be in the moment with the flow of the song.
Yes I love that song by Mazzy Star, a couple of others take me their such as ‘point of disgust’ by Low, ‘Fate’ by Grey Reverend and ‘Blood’ by the Middle East
The passion and the commitment to keep this song just like the studio recording is phenomenal. The way Chris keeps every single breath and note at the end is truly breathtaking
I remember listening to this so much after losing a great friend of mine some 20 years ago. Still touching, still transfixed. Still grateful to have known her. Thank You Coldplay.
i love how chris just fuckin loves what he's doing... he's laughing as he starts playing.... coldplay is a band that shows you that you don'tneed anything complicated or technically difficult to make just plain AMAZING, jawdropping music
Chris had to repeat: "It is big in Germany".... Now he is basically the biggest rock-star, and Coldplay is arguably the biggest/ most popular band in the entire world. When you are THAT talented, it does not go unappreciated. If I had to guess there were maybe 300 people at this show. True talent and greatness picks up traction. God bless them.. I cannot wait to see them live.
I remember I heard this live on t.v. at V fest or something as a kid - had to scribble band name and song down before running to hmv to buy it. They were virtually unknown then. Even as a broke school kid was worth every penny! Great to see how well they've done. Good guys according to anyone who knows them!
0:30 that slow switch from smiling to serious face when he wanted to start playing is great. it shows that he invests so much emotions in his singing. not like those singers who sing a sad song while laughing
From playing in front of 1,000 on bare bones stage at some farmland misic festival to playing in front of 100,000 in massive stadiums with video monitors as big as this stage and fireworks. Great to have seen the transition.
Oh my Goodness... He was so young, he looks like a child hhh, and had his head full of dreams ❤️ And he was so right, he believed they could do it, he believed in their band and music, and look at them 25 years after... Love this band, always loved these guys. Well done guys.
I simply lOve coldplay with all my heart*/ CM is the best male singer in the wOrld, his voice has a magic, a suavity, sOmething tha make you travell, and the songs have deep messages** it's not easy to explain, but I feel...
" Oh no, I see A spider web is tangled up with me And I lost my head The thought of all the stupid things I'd said Oh no, what's this? Well its music, music=art meaning there are differing opinions. You think they suck now, i think they are still amazing. It's better to respect our differences. Glad you at least enjoyed their early days.
this is such a beautiful song n he cried .it shows that no matter how many times no matter where he sings he always sings with the same emotion as he is singing it for the first time .just love him .i hope that his wife n he stay together for ever
His voice is so amazing! Sounds exactly like the studio version

Imagine what the crowd's reaction would be if he were quietly singing Trouble nowadays! BEAUTIFUL PERFORMANCE.
He sang it at MetLife NJ, IT WAS BEAUTIFUL
Amo a colplay .amo esa cancion
look at that crowd. Compare it to now. I really wanna know how many of those people have stayed fans 16 years later. Talk about loyal fans.
Edog 19 sorry i’m not sure how they’re loyal aren’t they just there to see a new band?
Linkin Park pfp and also listens to coldplay lol, same here. Greatest band alive LP (sorry Chris)
24 years later and they're heading the biggest world tour: Music of The Spheres 🪐
This song is truly beautiful. One of my top 5 Coldplay songs.
Aww the beginning was so cute. He's always had a good sense of humor.
I replied just so that you can listen to it again. I guess its been a while.

@@j.c7719 We same similar taste in music! Tsiesti by The Middle East is my favorite
Bands are so much better when they stick to the basics. No fancy effects or lighting. Just bass, guitar, drums, piano and vocals. That’s all you need.
Poetic, honest, and one of my favorite Coldplay songs of all time.
Ufff … that was hard .
Bellísima interpretación
So crystal clear & beautiful. Still great 15 years later. T Y. COLDPLAY for being the background music in our lives all these years! 🩵🎶🌏🌌🌠

When u realize Chris doesn't need autotune, his voice is gold ❤️❤️❤️
when his expression changed from 0:30 - 0:33 :( he really sings with emotion. i love coldplay
How small the crowd was... These folks experienced a GIFT!
Whenever I first heard the piano riff I fell in love with this song.

Uno de los temas mas bellos de la historia.
They earned everything they have. Congrats
Piano sitting on two road cases with Chris sitting on a fucking amp for a stool. Talk about the early days.
LOL!!!!! They're geniuses
That's how it should always stay! Big time or not! Keep touring feeling like you're at home...

I so wish I could've seen them live this early.
Times gone for Coldplay - they were so incredible
still my all time fave Coldplay track. And as for Chris Martin, he was a darling geezer then and he still is now. St Chris!
Early cold play is unbelievably underrated

And I lost my head
The thought of all the stupid things I'd said
Oh no, what's this?
A spider web, and I'm caught in the middle
So I turned to run
The thought of all the stupid things I'd done
And I never meant to cause you trouble
I never meant to do you wrong
I, well if I ever caused you trouble
Oh no, I never meant to do you harm
Oh no, I see
A spider web and it's me in the middle
So I twist and turn
But here am I in my little bubble

I never meant to do you wrong
I, well if I ever caused you trouble
Oh no, I never meant to do you harm

I was the one guy in the audience saying "this song is absolutely amazing". 🤣
so good true heart felt musicianship as always :)
