He used a digital piano. An electric piano is an electromechanical instrument. Like electrics guitars, they use physical materials to generate sound (strings, tines or reeds) which vibrate next to an electromagnetic pickup; the produced signal is then sent to an amplifier. Popular models are the Yamaha CP-80, the Rhodes and the Wurlitzer, each has their own unique sound and they all sound very different to a regular piano. A digital piano uses a digital sound source to try to emulate the sound and playability of a real piano. Chris was playing a really crappy digital piano in this video; those were everywhere in the 2000s.

I think brian eno the Producer changed them a lot. He told them for example they should use less notes, so they became more simple, mainstream
