The Retro Boost (based on Adidas Pure Boost) is still one of my favourite Y-3 sneakers. Futuristic like the Qasa but more comfortable, easier to pair with other clothes, and a little more low-key.

found a Y3 logo black pocket t-shirt at the thrift store for $5, didn't know what it was but knew it was quality. So glad i bought it.

Y-3 is the reason I got into high fashion
Imo Alexander Wang and Adidas is also ahead of its time. Alot of the new Balenciaga kicks look like his that were done a year or two before. Adidas got some heat but Nike was has the upper edge and I only think that because their main line isn’t as strong. Like their as classic Nikes , like Air Maxes and such and Superstars just don’t match up.
They all fail with avaiablity. I've seen some Y-3 stuff that is only avaiable on the english website, not on the german one. Nearly no shop here orders from them. The Alexander Wang x Adidas Poncho I was looking for - 90$ for US customers, for euro customers it was 180€ for no reason, simply because they set it so. Plus shipping costs and fees. This is how you NOT make business. They do great stuff (not everything, but a lot), but they are pretty worse at marketing and bringing that stuff really to the streets.

The idea of having swoosh and missing out on exploring the 3 stripes leaves it missing something!!! I don't think any big sports brand but Adidas allows the designers have so much flexibility?

I had no idea Yohji reached out to Nike first.. that’s fkn crazy. Probably one of the dumbest decisions Nike ever made. It is worth mentioning though that Yohji was going through a lot of financial struggle so perhaps that played a role in that decision. Regardless, years ago I walked into the Y-3 store in Soho and just loved the clothing ..ending up picking out a couple pieces… wasn’t until later that I even realized it was a Yamamoto and it all made sense. He’s by far my favorite designer… especially because black is my favorite color to wear. He’s a master of being bold, comfortable, and demure at the same time. Also all of his lines slap, for being an Adidas collab you might think the quality is meh but no, the quality of Y-3 clothing is top notch. Those clothes I bought years ago look just as good as the day I bough them and they’ve been through a lot. Also Y-3 pretty much brought athleisure and the whole “sports goth” thing to the forefront.
