      @@internetcomment4440 Where he says "I trust as much as mine", implies that he trust his own fashion advice, however he also trusts reggies. I don't know many people who trust others fashion advice anyway, so that's a real compliment to someone when you leave your trust in their hands for something that you love so much.
      It's actually a really nice way to put it to be fair

    I first saw streetwear through images taken from Japan. I initially thought it was clothes worn by random people you would see on the streets so it could be as crazy or structured as possible. From its original meaning, it's come to mean something completely different. It's more about the look at me factor now. I love Japanese street wear because it can be so crazy. The new meaning and look of streetwear is cool but never forget the history and its roots.

    I live in the city. You need jeans and sneakers to be comfortable while walking around. Sometimes you need a sweatshirt to keep warm, sometimes a t-shirt if it's hot. Bright neon colors look cool against all the concrete. That's basically my version of streetwear.

    Make a video about the fashion pioneer designers/brands like how fashion changed with Chanel, Dior, LV, Gucci etc. And involve them Japanese pioneers too like Kansai, Yohji, Issey Miyake and Rei Kawakubo. And the early avant garde ones like Margiela, Raf, JPG, Vivienne westwood and the likes

    Please promote this video on youtube. I mean paid ad for a fair amount of time because I think this video is great. Everyone needs to understand that streetwear and/or fashion is a huge respectable industry with a worldwide audience. I'm tired of everyone in my whole family clan asking how I make money and when I explain resale culture they still don't get it. At least videos like these are a perfect introduction to streetwear.
    P.s. I'm not a hypebeast. I just resell to make money. I'm into archive fashion at this point in my life lmao

    I would love your input on Harajuku/Pastel streetwear styles. I love wearing brands like Milklim, Angelic Pretty, Nile Perch & Harajuku Lovers but don't know if those brands are well known enough to be included in the streetwear category like Bape or Yohji Yamamoto. Would these brands be classified as something else other than streetwear?

    For me, streetwear is an identification of clothing, that correlates and enables you, and others, to identify what subculture(s) you identify with.
    But that's just my take sooo... change my mind.

    • @mcbleistift3414
      @mcbleistift3414 5 років тому +1

      isn't clothing and subculture always connected, even besides streetwear? I think most people dress in a certain way do have a similar lifestyle and culture

    • @SHIRO3301
      @SHIRO3301 5 років тому

      @@mcbleistift3414 hmmm interesting man. I think it's always been connected, but I think fashion is at the top, and subculture drips down from fashion I guess. Think of victorians. You had the super rich, who dressed to show off their wealth, as you could tell by the fabrics they wore.
      Nowadays you have urban subcultures, and I think streetwear identifies with urban subculture, and then whatever clothes you wear identifies you with which subculture you identify with.
      So you have goths which Is a subculture of the punk movement, and punk was the epitome of the political state of affairs within Britain and America. But you make a great point there ? :) got me thinking

    What I hate about videos like this is they literally rewrite history. Nearly 1,000 different hype streetwear brands are ignored while a few get overplayed. Again Bape is overemphasized while true streetwear classics like X-Large are forgotten.

    • @THECASUALco
      @THECASUALco  5 років тому +1

      Not necessarily. As far as Bape, it was incredibly important and played a huge role in streetwear in Japan which is a big part of why streetwear exists in its current iteration. XLarge's footprint just isn't as impactful. We're not trying to rewrite history, the attempt was to truncate it into the most important moments. We'd be here forever if we started listing Primitive, Fresh Jive, Huf, Benny Gold, Crooks & Castles, aNYthing, etc. The point was made in the video i.e "it wasn't about the brands..." Even if your favorite brand didn't make it streetwear wasn't about that. It was about the lifestyles created by the individuals who made it what it was. That's all but you're certainly entitled to your opinion on the matter

    streetwear has never been anti conformity wtf? that's incredibly ironic to claim that. It's always been about trendsetting and fitting in. Thers nothing wrong with it obviously, just don't say it's anti establishment or whatever

    • @THECASUALco
      @THECASUALco  5 років тому +1

      Take a look at the history. Not what it became. Talk to any skater, take a look at HUF, The Hundreds, any brand that came up in the 90s. It's foundations in punk make it naturally anti-conformity. Triple 5 Soul is notoriously known as being strictly underground. Your view of streetwear today is not what it was when it started. Most who grew up with it know this.
