Whoever is doing these video descriptions etc:
I think it would be great if you linked Klavan (and all other guest) works and books and social medias in these videos. Unless I'm missing something, I think you generally don't? If the tri solarans could manipulate an atom to contract or expand to any size. A conquering of a potentially equivalent enemy is stupidity. Use the atoms to make a stellar engine and direct one or two of the stars away and create a stable orbit around a single star. The whole arc is flawed.

Little correction : the end of the distinction between the supralunar and infralunar worlds is attributed to Galileo, who discovered that the moon had "mountains and valleys" (we'd call them craters today), which indicated that the moon was made of the same stuff than the earth and had the same laws. he then introduced the concept of "universe" in physics (the latins and greeks would use other words like cosmos) which means "one law", as in the laws of physics are the same everywhere.

SIMPLE and lack of its value is so well described in this video.
One of the issues of the world today is very similar. AKA Written swords and their meaning too fits a single line of thinking...... Just like other rules/truths of science/nature, as well follow a single line across the board. Today too many take WORDS and how they are strung together and claim their meaning only in a way to further a career, agenda, personal belief etc as a daily way to use words of the past to support something today. No straight line...... just a wiggles that conclude a truth, as they see fit.
Where in the best practice is taking WORDS and how they are strung together along with, history of time it was written, history of the writer and society of that day, and from this a determined, via logical path of how that all strings together, to determine the inner Ethos of whole text, etc.. From this then discover a text of words for their full real INTENDED meaning. (aka the truth). This way when one does express intentionally the Ethos of a whole document in support of something..... then they expressing so, with a great level of TRUTH. Real truth paints a straight line between other truths.... no a fuzzy line that hits sometimes and not others (similar to the two sets of rules of physics, as is discussed in this video),
IMHO part of today's failure to seek the REAL and deep truth is because we have hammered KISS (keep it simple stupid) sooooo damn hard....... people avoid all the analysis above and are completely FINE with others ignoring it too. It is to a point that folk ACCEPT "simple" analysis.... to actually hold great "cemented "meaning. While others ASSUME other parties are doing a complex analysis for them ...... when in fact..... they are not. Human's avoid difficult (complex) things. A mindset of deep analysis avoidance, allows for miss truths to form....... As well..... Manipulators usurp human's avoidance of difficult/complex thinking as a manipulation tool. They promote SIMPLE because they know "simple thinking minds" greatly opens a door for easier manipulation. Manipulating Fuzzy/simplicity to a particular end, compared to manipulating COMPLEX analysis that entails larger number of individual elements that point then to a conclusion of a more cemented truth , is not so easy a task to bring to a particular "desired" end.
Discussion in this video is of the same issue , just in the scientific "studies" realm... aka the line between the truths... are in line with each other.....

@@chrisanthemum7 Maybe by not paying and promoting scientists based on results that you want but instead by the work that was being done on that project even if it doesn't lead to a desired conclusion.
Companies would hardly do this because they need results to make money.
Governments funding Universities could absolutely incentivise truthseeking (not with people in positions of power that have an agenda).
If the people that influence the money flow to scientists have an agenda then these scientists are incentivised to lie and therefore, many of them will lie.
Also, the public needs access to all raw data that Universities work with (they are payed by taxpayers anyways). Then, the public can more easily factcheck scientists.
Also, it is important to have widespread media platforms that allow free discussions. If one side of the argument always gets shadowbanned, banned or falsly "fact-checked" then the public is being lied to. If the argument of one side is strong enough, then there is no need to silence the opponent. The first side just needs to dismantle the other with the better argument (which it should have if it so believes to be right). Any listener with a brain will then agree that one argument dismantles the other, if it does. By silencing others, the first side admits to it's arguments not being stronger than that of the opponent and therefore more likely actually being wrong.
One can't stop the owners of media companies from having an agenda and from wanting to use their platform to push it. Sure, some regulations could be made. But they might not even be necessary. A free mareket also solves that problem. Meaning, it helps if there are alternatives and if the public knows what it's getting from who. Open source code as well as decentralized fact-checking like on X certainly help with trust. It might take some time. At some point even the general public realises about which topics it is being lied to in which way from which platform, resulting in people switching to platforms that inform about these topics with a better trackrecord. Not of course, if these topics are meaningless or not politically motivated, then nobody cares. Might as well watch these on a platform that censors other topics.
Getting agenda driven missinformation results in (political) believes that aren't grounded in reality results in thinking and acting according to these believes results in things not working the way one wants to or turning out the way one wants them to turn out due to the decisions being based on a flawed belief system and that results in misery, poverty, bad health and so on.
One can stay in that misery or start building a believe system grounded in reality by challenging existing and new believes by listening to the arguments on all sides (that might require different platforms) until the evidence/ argument of one side turns out supreme.
Ultimately, it is everyone's responsability to do so about important topics. Not doing so gets punished by other people installing believes that benefit not the person but them resulting in the person's life likely becoming miserable.

"This appearing of the thing in traversing a field of opposedness takes place within an open region, the openness of which is not first created by the presenting but rather is only entered into and taken over as a domain of relatedness. This relation of the presentative statement to the thing is the accomplishment of that bearing with originally and always comes to prevail as a comportment. But all comportment is distinguished by the fact that, standing in the open region, it adheres to something opened up as such. What is thus opened up, solely in this strict sense, was experienced early in Western thinking as "what is present" and for a long time has been named "being".
Comportment stands open to beings. Every open relatedness is a comportment. Man's open stance varies depending on the kind of beings and the way of comportment. All working and achieving, and action and calculation, keep within an open region within which beings, with regard to what they are and how they are, can properly take their stand and become capable of being said. This can occur only if beings present themselves along with the presentative statement so that the latter subordinates itself to the directive that it speak of beings such-as they are. Speech that directs itself accordingly is correct (true). What is thus said is the correct (the true).
A statement is invested with its correctness by the openness of a comportment; for only through the latter can what is opened up really become the standard for the presentative correspondence. Open comportment must let itself by assigned this standard. This means that it must take over a pregiven standard for all presenting. This belongs to the openness of comportment. But if the correctness (truth) of statements becomes possible only through this openness of comportment, then what first makes correctness possible must with more original right be taken as the essence of truth.
Thus the traditional assignment of truth exclusively to statements as the sole essential locus of truth falls away. Truth does not originally lie in the proposition. But that the same time the question arises as to the ground of the inner possibility of the open comportment that pregives a standard, which possibility alone lends to propositional correctness the appearance of fulfilling the essence of truth at all."
Heidegger, "On the Essence of Truth", section 2.
Prompted by Jordan's point about what the would be scientist can find if oriented on truth as a standard above his activity stemming from the matter itself, vs what will happen as soon as that focus shifts to careerist advancement or any similar ancilliary goal (the wrong comportment, in the above sense).
Not to bury the lede too much, but the immediately following section arrives as the formula that "the essence of truth is freedom".

But it's exciting too, isn't it? I have been doing an experiment for quite a while now, of letting myself believe that those synchronicities are evidence of some supermaterial intelligence giving my perceptions a little poke, telling me, 'Pay attention to that'. The result has been that, more and more and more of them have happened over the years. They keep being positive, and _funny!_ and I have literally fallen in love with whoever is sending me these signals. Muse, angel, daemon, whatever. It's like learning a foreign language through trial and error. Takes a while, but the results are so rewarding!

But not in an 'eternal cosmic war' sense, more like two very good chess players. God controls reality, and she controls time & consciousness. And I get the sense that, life is largely a game built to determine which mortal souls are better suited to serve one side or another. Both are valid, and have plenty of good points in their favor. Would you rather spend your afterlife serving a higher purpose in a loving community, or exploring vast realms of imagination as an individual?

@AlexReynard I think you can conceptualize a higher power in many ways, and I certainly don't follow anywhere near the churches definition either. I do also believe it's a sort of infinite intelligence, that consciousness between all beings exists on a sort of plane, that as a singular human we are currently tuned into 1 frequency of, and many things from that plane come to manifest in the material world. The most simple form of this is an idea, where do they come from? As to your afterlife question, I am not sure.

    • @AlexReynard

@@chazzbranigaan9354 My basis is in seeing how, in nature, so often there's pairs of balanced opposites. Two opposing forces that push against each other, and in this eternal competition, balance is achieved. I figured maybe the pattern repeats in the macro level, and if there's one supercolossal consciousness, then likely there's at least one other.
My thought is that, time/consciousness/chaos/possibility is a vast ocean outside the bounds of material reality. Reality is within it, like if something could cause ocean water to crystallize into an immense frozen latticework. That's cause and effect freezing moments of time into an internally-consistent history. So when we die, our souls will either go back to the endless free-flowing ocean of time, or we can reincarnate and keep helping the structure of reality to remain solid. Like how a steady playerbase keeps an MMORPG going online. That's my best guess, at its most basic. There's probably all sorts of exceptions and glitches and edge cases that are also possible.

There appears to be some confusion in video and the comments about what the Tree Body Problem actually is.
In classical Newtonian physics it is a special case of the n-body problem.
The two body problem takes two masses as point objects that orbit each other in space and calculates their subsequent trajectories using Newton's laws of motion and Newton's law of universal gravitation. This has an exact solution.
When a third (or more) bodies are added, there is no exact mathematical solution. The resulting system is chaotic for most initial conditions. Because there are no solvable equations for most three-body systems, the only way to predict the motions of the bodies is to estimate them using numerical methods.
The first specific three-body problem to receive extended study was the one involving the Earth, the Moon, and the Sun.

Very rarely do you find researchers who take a risk and uncover something entirely novel and I think this is both for the reasons Jordan suggested and the fact that many researchers don't want to waste their time

0:48 Wrong!!! In fact, you can lay out the logos or abstract principles in a form of a system of differential equations. What you cannot do is to make long term predictions of the behavior of the three bodies, because the system is sensitive to the initial conditions. This happens because in order to be able to predict, you do not only have to use 'the logos', that is, the laws in a form of system of differential equations, but you also have to be able to specify the initial conditions to the infinite decimal place. Obviously, no human or computer can do that.

When you see a correlation that fits your biases, you stop looking for contradictory evidence if you ever were. If you are seeking truth you should continually test your assumptions and look for things that may prove you wrong.
