Good old days, when Ninja Tunes 'Next School' was full of light and beauty and fun and happiness! When these awesome kids and Bonobo (and even naming Spankrock here) delivered such great belief in what was about to come from Ninja Tune! And then... ...it didn't happen! So sad it all died with the then happening sub label policy of the label. Even Big Dada, the highly influential rap label of Ninja Tune, which I love to the fullest, still by today, is to be named as a major killer of the labels unreachable status achieved.
When a friend of mine gave me a copy of "A Living Room Hush" a few years ago, It didn't really do it for me. But having listened numerous times since have become a huge fan of these guys. I love the strange time feel to this one. Great video. Great post.
Saw them in 2011 at the troubadour in hollywood after learning about them only months before from an interview with Tosin Abasi of Animals As Leaders...he was at the show, very nice guy, thanked him for the recommendation. However, this was Jaga's last encore song..."this song is about...skateboarding!" - their drummer/main song writer...obviously named after "the search for animal chin" sooo yeah that definitely made me like them a whole lot more. catch them live if you get the chance!
wow. cool. saw them a couple of years ago in Victoria, BC, Canada. Amazing jazz soundscapes. Duke Ellington -> Gil Evans -> Jaga Jazzist. Thanks for posting.
If you see the video where they play together with the norwegian band Big Bang, they are introduced in norwegian. The song they play is "Girl in Oslo".
i like the animal cuddles. its creepy and hilarious. i also like to think that 0:30-1:05 was simply meant to let thier faces be known in a geniusly cheesy way, so i now refuse to accept any other possibilities. (:[]-
on a serious note, anybody who is into this band should also check out "cannibal corpse". if your one of those people that think theyre sexy smart for reading books while drinking cofee in a starbucks, barns and noble, or books-a-million, then surely the band is for you.
The version on Spotify has scratching on it towards the end and a few other tidbits that are different from the original version.. I like the original much better
Still sounds good in 2020! Man this brings back memories!
Also still listening in 2020! New album is out!

First heard this in a record shop in Japan, so sick! that breakdown toward the end, marvelous! OMG
First heard it from a friend back in 2004 California.
First thoughts:
"this is exactly the kind of music I'm looking for..."
"also the giraffes are fantastic..."
