  • Bait Fishing with BLOODWORMS - Porgy * Sea Bass * Kingfish - Casting for Evening Bluefish. Sinkers, small hooks and a dozen bloodworms is what I decided to use. The biting worms make a great fishing bait. Not sure what I was going to catch I picked a size #2 hook, 4 ounces of lead and 30 pound leader. I had some big worms so I got 3 to 4 baits per worm. It was fun relaxing fishing. A change of pace and fish. Nice mix of porgy, sea bass, kingfish and the sea robin. Do keep in mind blood worms bite. These polychaetes are also venomous and you may be allergic. The bite is some what like that of a bee sting. The following evening I decided to try to muster up a few bluefish before dark and that we did. Just have to love fishing. Too many ways, places and times to fish can have a dizzying effect. But that is all the fun. Have fun out there and we are always happy to share our experiences with all those around the world and hope you enjoyed the video as much as we did making it and remember always - Fish Your Way!

    Hi Jerry! I think fishing on JB is better than Brooklyn. Water quality in Brkl is not so good. I used to catch plastic bags and old tires, no it is a ton of face masks and used gloves. I’m very upset seeing piles of garbage near Verrazano

    • @FishYourWay
      @FishYourWay  4 роки тому +2

      Hey Riyad good to hear from you. yea no way around it there will always be stuff like that. Even in the remote parts of the country something is going on with water quality. Some you cant see and comes way up like discharges and runoff. Even rain! To add its not so much what you see but what you don't see in or on the water that will diminish a fishery. Most anglers don't look in that direction most likely because there is nothing to see!

    hey Jerry Just aQuick Question. have you ever tried digging your own worms? - i used to dig both sand and blood worms. Sometimes I would get Clams or Steamer clams or Even Dug up a 3 foot 1inch wide tape worm ( best bait Ever ) much cheaper than buying worms. Just have to find them like everything else. A roofing pitch fork works well.

      Hey bill I did when I was younger but not lately I try to save my time for the fishing. I actually took a few courses in invertebrate zoology and dug some cool stuff up. It make a nice outing though digging through hard rock and mud may have to do. Will keep in mind!

    Is that the Marine Pkwy Bridge, Brooklyn side?
    I just got back into fishing after about a 25 year hiatus. I've been taking my kid(s) to the North Channel Bridge in Howard Beach. I used to fish there for many summers. but it seems much different now, and there doesn't seem to be a lot of fish, other than snappers. I had a fluke follow me up to the surface once, and then it aborted.
    We've gone about a half-dozen times so far, and all we've caught is one snapper. Our time is often limited to 2-3 hours, so we don't have time to drive out to LI, Jones Beach & such. FBF may be doable, but I've never been there, and don't know where to park or where to fish there.
    Any recommendations for spots within a half hour, or so, of central Queens?

    • @FishYourWay
      @FishYourWay  4 роки тому +2

      Welcome back yea thats by FBF, central queens is good and bad as to getting to spots. Bad cause your not on the water but good cause your right in the middle equi distant to the water. I am luck as I live right near the highway exit and can shoot out anywhere off rush hour rather fast north or south shore. There are many areas to fish here is a link with tons of spots to share you can check it out www.dec.ny.gov/outdoor/8377.html there is a map with locations, access, types fishing etc hope some helps

    Hi Jerry, Looks like the blood worms catch almost anything. They are a good bait for King Fish in the surf. I noticed you had a felt trailer on your bucktail. They work great on bucktails. I think they give a good swimming action. Take care and good luck, Mickey

    • @FishYourWay
      @FishYourWay  4 роки тому +1

      A nice change of pace Mickey, I have been using the felt a bit this year I started to use aquaseal I always get the big tube and found just a dab on the top and your trailer stays on great and straight really good stuff! thanks as always Mickey!

      Hi Jerry, I use Plumbers Goop. I put a little on the end and fold it over to give the head of the trailer double thickness. I put a weight on them until they are dry. Thanks and good luck, Mickey

    Got a couple of hours in the other day just tossing metal and bucktails, couple of nice guys asked if I was still fishing and gave me 3 1/2 bloods (I HATE BUYING BLOODWORMS $1 a piece in S NJ) but ended catching a handful of spot, croaker and puppy drum in the wash.

    • @FishYourWay

      Wow! 40 bucks of bait free! Cant beat that! I would drop the jig and metal anytime but usually have to do it the other way around! Very cool thanks for sharing Sean!

    The kingfish/whiting have a high mortality rate after being caught, even if they swim off. I would've kept him. Besides, they taste delicious.

    I always use sandworms for porgies and winter flounder. The last few boxes I bought had so many small worms that I had to use a whole worm. Never tried bloodworms

    • @FishYourWay
      @FishYourWay  4 роки тому +2

      Yea, luckily were I get them they are great, if they are small they are extras always more then a dozen too, I love the sand worms too but find the bloodworms stay on like leather!

      Give them a go tim they cost a little more but you do get mileage sometimes a good day 3-4 fish a worm when they are in good

  • @robertlucas8104
    @robertlucas8104 4 роки тому +1

    oh that bloodworm deserved to be cut up for some porgies.. or.. sea bass! Hell even kingfish! they’re nasty buggers. Worse than sand worms. Looks like the porgies really started picking up in the bay.. much later than expected. Anyways, always fun to see you out on the water having a blast! The good days of fishing are here!
