What I enjoy about John is the unscripted way we go on his walk-arounds: fast pace, wheelbarrow or shovel in hand, the sudden stop and excited cry of "Look at this!" Amazing too that Mr Lord with many years of experience can still be surprised and delighted in his garden! His cameraman (his brother?) may also be the hero since he has to be ready to capture the moment without any scene set-up or staging. How different to the more highbrow gardening shows. It's the perfect complement to this beautiful piece of Ireland - always entertaining, original, educational, and has us laughing at the witty and delightful humour. John Lord is a national treasure.
Gorgeous garden! Between “recycling” and “hillbilly dead-heading”, one should not be drinking hot coffee while watching this video. It hurts the nose. 😆
Great video! Thanks, John and David!
How are you doing ?
Eating anything will cause a mess while watching JL garden. I also have done some hillbilly deadheading - via foot, before. LOL
Just sat down with an afternoon cup of tea and saw the notification . Perfect accompaniment to my cuppa and no calories. I love the hillbilly deadheading.
GEEZ!! He is BRUTAL with the hillbilly dead-heading! Don’t think I’ll be inviting him into my garden any time soon… 🫣
Awesome presentation, John 👍639
Looks absolutely great! Glad to be here again!
Have a wonderful weekend 🥰
More power to your channel, Friend!
Your videos always bring a much-needed smile and chuckle to my face. Thank you!!
Absolutely loved this video learned a lot with laughs along the way. Thanks John and David
Hello John
Love your walkabouts. You know your plants so well, it's a pleasure to watch you😁😓
'Let's do a bit of recycling...' *launches plant into orbit then carries on* :)
Just lovely
Greatest garden I ever seen! Thanks John!
John,
Found you 3 years ago when l googled persicaria.
So glad we found you.
Love your sense of humour.
We are in Australia, but your advice resonates despite our different climates.
Very enlightening as well as entertaining! Thank you John.
Always a pleasure to go on a guided tour of John's garden!
I could watch John Lord narrate his folding of laundry.
I was happy to see you “recycling” the weed you pulled- I have been hurling weeds and dead headings over the fence and behind the bushes lately, and was feeling a bit guilty about it . Now I see I am in good company!
Loved seeing all the hydrangea blooms.. you always make me laugh John! especially when you talked about holding the dead nettle and the dentist!
Visited your beautiful garden last week on our way to catching the ferry in Dublin after a wonderful holiday in County Fermangh. It was so wonderful to see your garden in ‘real life’ after watching your videos and to meet you and your team. Your garden has given us lots of inspiration for our garden back home in Shropshire, many thanks.
Hillbilly dead heading is the perfect description. You always make me laugh!
You have a cute smile
Thanks. Would live to see an update on your long herbacious border if you have time. Always enjoy your videos. Many thanks.
Oh John, it is such a treat to see more video output from you. I always enjoy your plant combinations and delightful commentary. The most exciting thing is that your health must be improving after your journey through Covid. God bless, and keep on gardening.
How are you doing?
Another lovely video! Thank you =) My Mum and I came down on the Bank Holiday to see the centre and the garden ad had a lovely visit. Many thanks to the staff for the loan of an umbrella (Mum forgot her walking stick) it was absolutely perfect. I hope you all have a lovely rest of the summer and we will hopefully call again next time we head down to Dublin.
Always a joy to watch. I do something similar at the dentist’s, John. I pinch myself really hard and it ends up hurting more than the shot does 🙃
There you go again, John! Fighting the roses! Love your idea of deadheading but I'm sure I'd not come out unscathed. Yee haaa Hillbilly dead heading!
Wow, nice and beautiful garden
John’s beating the bush.. 😂
Wowhh. Totally i love planting too.
Hi John - your gardens looking great ! Your comments on how things do and don’t ….. are invaluable .
I bet that nettle got ya !
🤣🤣🤣🤣 at 8:10 you did a bit a Kimmy recycling, that’s just lovely 🤦🏻♀️
Lovely video again John
Lovely plants and I think a
Lovely new camera 🙋🏻♀️
As usual, delightful show. ‘Hillbilly dead heading’...lol😀
That's a gorgeous crocosmia John - want one! I need to split two different pulmunarias, but I'm a bit afraid they might die; the speckled one and a very pale silver leaf, so pretty. And you should wear gloves, around those brambles! Thank you John.
It’s called Crocosmia Paul’s Best Yellow
@@johnlordssecretgarden Thank you very much John' that's so kind.
Yea! You are back!
Hello Mr Lord and David thanks for sharing your knowledge, I learn so much from you.🏴
Hillbilly deadheading, love it as long as it’s not in my garden. You are definitely very entertaining love your gardens and your videos.
I’m going to be looking for black stem hydrangeas. Thanks for sharing your garden and all your knowledge. 👍❤️😊
Nature never sleeps...ain't that the truth!
Be keen to see your veronacastrum after the “Chelsea chop”. Mine flop terribly so I’ll have my snips at the ready this year. Appreciate your vids, even this old gardener picks up new tricks.
Hi John 🙋♀️my favorite gardener. Yes my hydrangeas are awful this year and last plus there all burned up even with a shade cloth. I’m in zone 9. I might try limelight or something else all together.
Love ya Jon
Another highly enjoyable video….esp the hillbilly style of deadheading. Said it before, but you have got to be on tv John
What a luxury, all these wonderful videos! Thank you very much. I will never feel guilty about using my blower. 🌬💨In New York State we have hardly gotten any rain for a long time and are starting to have water emergency watering restrictions so we are getting sad.
Everything looks beautiful John and Teddy.
Hillbilly deadheading!! I’m laughing so hard. I chuck all my weeds into the woods. I guess I can now call myself a gardener!
Lindo jardim,meus parabéns 👍🏿👍🏿👍🏿👍🏿
Good morning John.
Check out my garden tour videos on my channel! Thanks for the support!
Hi I'm alice a newbie from Belfast really enjoying your videos
I'm an avid Garden Answer viewer the last few years and obviously have been getting notions.
Soooooo does someone follow you around John in these videos and pick up everything you've cut back or pulled out? Or finish planting what you've started?
I love the grasses and firegrass especially. I do have a question about Eucalyptus trees do they really suck up moisture from surrounding plants or is that just a myth, looking to plant Eucalyptus Gunni near some ants for. Jungle effect thank you John.
Do you have some Burdock's, Tayto crips, and Guinness in the garden?
How do you deal with the watering all the plants. Just wandering, thank you so much for all your work, everything looks fantastic
In previous videos he said that he only waters new plantings and the rest is just Mother Nature. May not work so well everywhere, but definitely works in Ireland:)
🌟🙋♀️💜💕

Mow and blow for plants makes them all look the same. Removes all the attributes that makes a shrub’s growth habit unique. 👎🏼 to hedge trimmers……except for hedges.
