If we are going to start outlawing ICE engines, can we begin with lawnmowers?
My city recently banned gas leaf blowers - with the ban going into effect Jan 1 2025. Which will be wonderful for me, as one of the neighbors behind my house is out with his leaf blower near-daily.
We use a reel type push mower, almost totally silent and it's power source (my wife) just needs an extra slice of toast for brekky.
@@AnonymousFreakYT Is there a powerful replacement for a good Stihl backpack blower? The worst thing they can do is ban something without an equivalent being readily available (and somewhat affordable).
@@aussie2uGA Yes. Multiple companies make good leaf blowers. And leaf blowers aren’t exactly “a necessary device” either. An old fashioned rake gets the job done just fine.
The Tim Traveler recently did a video on the track that Fiat Panda video was shot at. It used to be a Fiat factory and still has the test track on the roof.
But we're not here to see any of that!
FYI: the Panda is still sold in Europe as a very very mild hybrid crossover-hatchback-thing at a very low price (
That's still expensive...
@@anemeth9281 less than 20000 euros makes it one of the cheapest cars on the continent
14:25 - Jason over on Engineering Explained did some back-of-the-envelope (umm, that is, his signature whiteboard) calculations, and concluded that cold gas thrusters powered from a feasible nitrogen tank occupying rear seat space could indeed allow the Roadster to hover for several seconds. He didn't have an idea why one would want that, either.
Yes, but hovering for a few seconds at most really isn't flying.
@jamespaul2587 It is, in Musk-speak. 😁
@bazoo513 lol, true, and FSD is just 2 weeks away, right?

Thank you for another week of comprehensive coverage of EV's
Your episode index is very impressive.
Everybody knows EVs don't sell, except for the sales numbers ;)
Everyone knows EV demand is soft.
Everyone sees more reviews on the road and at charging stations, and more variety
Excellent news for the workers at Ultium! Also, sadly, I have not had the pleasure of pointing and laughing out loud as a Cybertruck drives by.
heheheh... I did the other day. It was a bit surreal. As a cyclist, I really do not look forward to sharing the road with those things. They look painful to be hit by.
Thank you for the episode!
I love this channel; informative and balanced.

Another excellent episode, thank you!
Surprisingly slow rate of increase of Cyber truck (stupid name) sightings even in Tesla central, Burbank California
Instead of percentage increases how many more cars were sold. Since Toyota sold like 2 last year up 600% isn't that hard.
Yeah that kind of information really needs to be presented as part of a graph of total EV sales. Just attempting to qualify the percent change with words doesn’t really convey the huge disproportionality.
EXACTLY! I posted a similar comment. This channel seems to have forgotten how math works when it comes to percentages.
This channel is negative on tesla for some reason. Tesla sales maybe down a little from last year but are still over 400 thousand for the 2nd quarter. Building as much as 1300 cyber trucks a week and making huge money on them.
I was thinking the same! All the OEM manufacturers are coming from a low base YOY so it is pretty easy to have gains. The better number is what percent of the EV market did they pick up.
Growth for individual brands helps everyone. The fact that these brands are selling more shows demand is increasing!
Fisker inc , the owner of name did not declare bankruptcy, and definitely saved some dosh aside
Thanks!
Thank you.
Great show as usual.
Thanks
Magnus Steyr was expecting $400 million from Fisker?
Whoever thought that was going to happen should be fired.
Also "poor communication from Tesla"?? Wow, have never heard that one before
Late delivery for GM blamed on someone else we always hear that one.
21:45 The main differentiating factor left for Lynk & Co or Zeekr models was that Zeekr was all electric, but now Lynk & Co has an EV too and it shares the exact same design language as most Zeekrs (besides the new 007 and MIX). Both brands existing at the same time is truly confusing to me still.
Congrats on the workers at Ohio, welcome to union life.
This was GOOD news, wasn't it! Made me happy.
By far the best all round coverage of EV news available.
Thank you for working with advertisers who are doing good work!
i agree with you Nikki, i hope Rivian do well with their nearly stock R1T quad, but that Ford, while i hate pickup trucks, looks extremely bad ass, and when manufacturers push the limits with cars like this, their R&D benefits us down the road, hopefully anyway.
I expect a lot of Chinese EV “consultants” and “contractors” to set up shop in Mexico.
I agree with your ford v Rivian sentiment. Calling that thing a F150 is an embarrassment to the truck and the race team both. Personally, I am insulted when Ford or GM make a NASCAR or race car and brand it with a family car name....what do they think?
I've eyerolled at "NASCAR" for years. NASCAR originally meant "National Association of Stock Car Auto Racing" - "stock car" as in "a vehicle off the factory assembly line with minimal modifications."
That hasn't been even remotely true in decades. All NASCAR vehicles use the same frame, that has no commonality with any actual stock vehicle. And the engines are all basically identical, specially built by custom engine builders that aren't part of the main auto manufacturers.
They're kidding themselves, even Toyota had to make their first pushrod motor for years and years to "Compete"
@@AnonymousFreakYTit does entertain the Bogans though. ( Bogans = Rednecks)
If EV brands are going to adopt NACS, they need to start putting their charger either on the rear driver side, or the passenger side in the front! Frustrating to pull into a supercharger and see a Lightning, or R1T taking 2 spots because of charger placement.
Taking 2 spots is exactly what Tesla recommends. Until V4 dispensers with longer cables are out; or their planned NACS extension cord is out.
NACS transitions is going poorly, adding confusion, hurting EV sales
Your data is usually accurate and appreciated. However, when comparing Tesla's sales to other car manufacturers like Toyota in the electric vehicle market and noting growth rates of 200 to 400%, it's important to consider their substantial increase from previous years. For instance, in March 2024, Tesla sold over 37,000 cars while Toyota sold just over 800. Please continue delivering great news, but ensure there's no implication of misinformation regarding Tesla's sales decline.
It made a lot more sense back when ML systems were called 'expert systems' instead of AI. Still to this day they have tons of stored knowledge and zero intelligence.
AI is the buzz term, a lot of non AI is being called AI, there's no licensing or qualifying involved. I'm going to start calling all electronic devices & software AI.
I don't even know the difference between Ai and machine learning
I heard that Fiskers Alaska would be built by Nissan. Do y'all think it's still on the table?
I would bet "no".
No, Nissan was negotiating a deal with Fisker where Nissan would get an EV pickup from the Alaska development but the deal fell through. Allegedly other brands besides Nissan were looking at bailing out Fisker but none did.
@@shroomyesc Yes, this. Nissan pulling out of the Alaska project was a major factor for why Fisker had major financial issues.
Smart #5 bears a striking resemblance to Kia's Soul EV
Smart 5 looks ugly to me
Cake back in action - great news
you certainly help your subscribers by putting numbers in context...
Can you be a little more explicit?
Regarding that New York State ban on ICE powered ATVs, 11 years from now!?! That’s just political greenwashing and kicking the can down the road. At current and forecast rates of change in the related tech, there will likely be scant few ICE powered vehicles of any sort left in the market by then. In the meantime, it is just business as usual.
Banning gas gardening equipment would be the quickest easiest Improvement

This is the second time a company with the Fisker name has gone bankrupt.
There is a pattern
at this point, car buyers at the lower end of the price range shouldn't expect any new car under $20,000. I show five total new cars under $20,000, and 25 cars under $25,000.
It's not fair of course, but unless things change in the market, new cars are not gonna be particularly cheap. You're much better off looking for a one year-old car. The good news is that the used car market has finally corrected. If you check out a recent donut media video, it looks like electric cars especially right now can be as much as half the price even if they're only a year or two. And let's remember that historically, new cars lose 30 to 50% of their value in the first couple of years anyway.
If you can find a certified preowned electric vehicle, that's a pretty good way to go. My Fiat 500 has done me pretty well. The only problem I've really had one repair where I had to swap the internal charging cable for $1500, tires. these tires are very susceptible to road hazards it turns out
GM does not own Wuling
Strange. The announcement was on the GM China website…
Chinese car companies are confusing. There is a company "Wuling Motors" that is a subsidiary of Guangxi Automotive Group. Then there's SAIC-GM-Wuling Automobile, which is a joint venture between SAIC Motor, General Motors, and Guangxi Auto.
Wuling Motors (no GM involvement) is largely a commercial truck maker, making vans and delivery trucks.
SAIC-GM-Wuling makes passenger vehicles, and markets them as just "Wuling".
The vehicle in this story is a SAIC-GM-Wuling "Wuling" vehicle, so is "a GM vehicle."
(China doesn't allow foreign companies to own a majority of any Chinese-domestic company, so GM technically owns less than 50%, but they are a very active participant in that Wuling.)
@@AnonymousFreakYT big fan of yours here. AnonymousFreak is a hero. Thanks for all your contributions over the years.
I saw a pristine Cybertruck on the streets of Bakersfield, CA, and was actually surprised to see it was even uglier in person.
People who hate the Cybertruck can't stop talking about it. LOL
The truck is living rent free in people's heads
En, I’ve driven Tesla Ys and Ss, good cars. So I wouldn’t kick a Cybertruck out of the driveway. I bet it drives well! But I will be charitable and say that in terms of looks, the Cybertruck is at best an acquired taste!
I was never a fan of the design but I know there were many people that liked it. There seems to be a bit of "piling on" going on these days with the Cybertruck -- probably from the desire of some people to take Tesla (and Elon) down a peg or two.
Just remember, Elon didn't FORCE anyone to place reservations for the Cybertruck. You all did it on your own.
@@enadegheeghaghe6369 Just noting my reaction to the first time seeing one on the street. It was mentioned in the video so I remembered it, but I don't usually think about it other than when it's brought up, so I wouldn't say it "lives" in my head. Just thought it was uglier than in videos. Boring, otherwise.
It is horrendous. What on earth were they thinking wasting so much time on that monstrosity.
Once again, this new reporting was incomplete. Automotive News reports a 14% increase in EV USA sales in April after 1st quarter decline, but EV sales in the European Union plummeted 16% year to date according to the European Automobile Manufacturers Association (ACEA). The increase in EV USA sales is attributed to sales incentives of $10K+. Toyota BZ4X is the highest year over year percent change in selling model. The incentives reflect “over capacity” with production outstripping consumer demand as well as the expensive sticker price of an EV. There is consumer demand, but at a lower prices.
We await your channel.
@@transportevolved No, bother. Autoline Network and Automotive News gives the full picture of what is happening in the EV world. I appreciated their video on the BYD Seagull with CareSoft. BYD Seagull EV was examined from the exterior to interior followed by short ride. CareSoft is a company specializing in benchmarking and cost reduction, much like Munro associates. The Seagull has 6 airbags, cruise control, wireless phone charging, soft materials except for the headliner, 4 wheel disc brakes, French stitching, electric driver seat, climate controls buttons, light and direct steering, slow acceleration, low resonance boom, no rattles and squeaks, and 250 mile range. CareSoft will tear the car apart to determine how BYD was able to make it affordable. CareSoft sent a warning to the US automotive industry about the car. It changes the definition of cheap for $11.5K at the time of recording. This is a well-made vehicle for an EV. It doesn’t come across as cheap.
Yuu missed the bit that EU decline is almost all due to the removal of EV grants in Germany. It will take time for the market to readjust.
@@AlanTov That’s is true. Once the incentives in USA for EVs by the automakers ends, I expect sales to normalize to Germany’s levels.
At 14:47 why did you even bother reporting that the new Tesla roadster will be able to fly? I expect pigs to get airborne first.
Possibly for it's ... comic value?
@@RPRosen-ki2fk You may be right.
People actually believe the rocket boosters, even if it was just an Air Blast how would that possibly be safe or street legal
E Pi or ‘pei,’ ? Oh well 😂❤. Also it’s a mathical symbol? Or mathematical symbol?
We tried to use the Chinese pronunciation.
good union news!
I thought so too! We need good conditions for battery manufacture, less chance for explosive battery problems.
Pretty sure I learned Cadillac wants it pronounced “ick” for all of its iq names.
Honestly, if BYD's name wasn't so cringe sounding, I'd be a whole lot more open to it. They make some pretty enticing cars. But the whole "Build Your Dreams" thing just makes me feel embarrassed, imho...
My favorite weekend ritual! Thanks for another entertaining TEN show! I always feel a little wiser after listening.
Tesla dealerships: Sales are down compared to last year! Everyone else is selling EVs like crazy! What do we do Elon? (8:18)
Musk: I BELIEVE I CAN FLY!! (14:22) Now pay me more, I am beautiful.
Shareholders: Brilliant! Give him $56,000,000,000 a year!
Volvo: heheheh... (laughing all the way to the bank) (20:30)
Me: *facepalm* $56 billion is enough to end homelessness in the US for the next 2-5 years.
Great to see the EV market growing so strongly! It is often the case that the strong leader type who is a bit unstable starts things off, and the work is then taken up by steady, methodical sorts later, slowly marginalizing the unstable sorts. Perhaps that is the story with Musk, Tesla and EVs too.
The only thing that saves this channel is that its news about cars the DEI is not something that saves it more or less kills the way you announce it
When you only list the percent increase for companies other than Tesla you make it sound like the other companies are doing fantastic things, but their sales volumes are so low that almost any increase is big. Can you give us the actual numbers?
look it up my friend, google is available to everyone. Post it back here if you care and wish to share.
Comparing growth rates using percentages is misrepresentation. A company selling 500,000 cars one year and 750,000 cars the next would report 50% growth. A company selling 10 cars one year and 50 cars the next could report 500% growth.
Growth is growth. it means more people are choosing a diverse set of cars.
Of course it isn't misrepresentation. It's clear what it means.
Both Fisker companies were disasters for everyone involved. He is a great designer and a terrible businessman. He hired his wife to be in charge of finances. Boy, it's really clear that this channel HATES Tesla -- well, Elon Musk anyway. Sorry Elon doesn't always toe the liberal line, but Tesla is still far and away the industry leader in EVs. All the other manufacturers are playing catch up.
It's easy to spin the data when boasting about the "double digit" sales increases of some manufacturers, but you have to remember how math works. It's not a great accomplishment to have large percentage increases when you're basically starting from nothing. Getting a double-digit increase from a sales behemoth like Tesla is actually quite a feat because you have to put up some serious numbers to achieve it.
Moving the needle from 5 to 6 (a 20% increase) ain't that hard at all.
Yes exactly, Do the math. (or as Nikki would say: Do the maths.)
Elon should be hated, he is anti-worker, anti green transition ( because he doesn't want to make a lower cist vehicle, he wants robo-taxis) he open courts Nazis and is clearly an idiot that uses other people wirk to claim he is a genius. Thus channel is just reporting facts on Telsa and isn't tickling their ball .
They do but as long as you factor that in they are a good channel every channel has bias. Being so open about it makes it easy with TEN
Well, I don't think this channel hates Musk, but it would be fair if they did. Musk decided to black list Transport Evolved first a long, long time ago, before his hate politics were even known of, because this channel was willing to share plusses and minuses of Tesla vehicles. I think the most Nikki allows herself to do is be jaded about Tesla, based on her experience. But I would not blame this channel if they decided to start doing smear campaigns against Musk, since he is setting up smear campaigns against LGBTQ+ people on his social media. It would only be fair.
@@shanefiddle Phasing every story in the worse light would most definitely count as hate to Nicki if it was about a LGBT+ group so not sure why it doesn't count here, and there is the odd totally unbelievable story like them saying blue cruise is better than FSD which even Ford says is not the case and as you have obviously been around this channel as long as I have did you notice how there best reporter and only male on the channel disappeared straight after disagreeing on that article.
As I have said many times Nikki is allowed her view and like everyone has bias but denying it is where there is an issue.

Why do you call Japan "Japan" and not "Nihon"? Why do you call Germany "Germany" and not "Deutschland"? It is disrespectful to the local people not to acknowledge their REAL name.
Moo , have a Cow man.
She is speaking so Americans can understand. 😂
I've often thought it was odd that each country makes up names for other countries rather than using the name that the country calls itself. (It's not just a USA thing)
Logically speaking, if New Zealand is not "New Zealand" anymore, why isn't Germany called "Deutschland" ? Or Ireland called "Eire" ?
We should use the names, or noises the Neanderthals and early humans made, not the colonizer names
