Love this story. Always liked the existing eps and since its completion with animation it's become one of my fave Troughton and fave Cybermen stories.

Just a heads up, there seems to be an issue with the audio at 4:59 for a few seconds. It's nothing major though, and I thought this was a nice review aside from that. The Moonbase is definitely a banger, one of the Cybermen's best of all time. Though I don't mind their Tenth Planet versions, this design and voice for them is a real improvement. Though like you said, even when they're silent and sinister in the background, they really work extremely well. The atmosphere of this story complements them well, and I for sure know what you mean about the background noise, it's a big part of their scariness here IMO. The 60s Cybermen stories really knew how to use audio to ramp up the tension. Glad you're loving Troughton too, he really was an absolute gem to continue the character of the Doctor. His speech about 'some corners of this universe' is maybe his best moment thus far, but every moment he has here is something really special :)

Thanks for letting me know about the audio issue, I kept meaning to check the video before it went up and this is what happens when I don’t. 😬 and I completely agree, I’m really loving the 60s Cybermen, all of the elements just come together to make them work really well as a villain, from the atmosphere, to the design, to their use in the story, and the music. It’s really great stuff, and I agree about that Second Doctor moment, Troughton is excellent as always!

Brilliant episode. But I do find the Cybermen's dialogue difficult to comprehend sometimes. Like I need to concentrate a bit more just to follow the story.
I usually don't like the animations but I found the details they put into the environments to help sell this serial's atmosphere.

I think some of the Who writers struggled with how to write female characters successfully. I didn't think Polly was as bad as Dodo or Vikki. Really enjoying your reviews!

Thank you! And I definitely agree, often times the writers seemed to not know what to do with them, Dodo and Polly being a good example of this, for me.

The moonbase is amazing doctor who story and Patrick Troughton is amazing in it and Jamie is amazing in it ben it is amazing in it and Polly is not amazing in it
