This story is great. The scenes between Polly and the Doctor and the Doctors "some corners of the universe" speech is amazing. I love the horror in this one. Im so glad we have two epiosdes and two wondefully animated epiosdes to go alongside them.

I think the Moonbase is a nice understated gem. I think Patrick Barr is a fantastic guest star as Hobson. I think what I find more compelling about the Moonbase compared to some other base-under-siege stories of this era, is that the main leader isn't actually a douche. This makes the conflict the Doctor and Hobson more compelling because it comes from two valid perspectives. By contrast, I don't find the Doctor's conflict with General Cutler in the Tenth Planet, or his conflict with Kaftan in the Tomb of the Cybermen nearly as compelling. This episode boasts a quintessentially Doctor Who, British cliffhanger at the end of part two- where the Cyberman has been there all along in the sick bay, hidden in plain sight. I love Morris Barry's direction of this episode. Patrick Troughton also cements himself as the Doctor in this episode.

Speech with the Doctor fighting evil is wonderful.

A brilliant story, waaaaay better than the first Cyberman story. They were truly creepy in this story. The moment when the Doctor realized where the Cybermen were hiding was a genuinely chilling moment.

It's actually my favourite Cyberman story!
It's also where what we would come to know as the Troughton era really begins!

The Moonbase is my favourite Cyberman story of the classic era. It's just got such a great amount of atmosphere and they’re still sinister enough without their design. It's really well directed and the production as a whole feels really well done! Love it!

The CYbermen are my alltime favourite Dr Who villains and they IMO are more interesting than the Daleks.

This story was my introduction to the Second Doctor, and it remains my favorite Doctor Who story ever. They had finally figured out exactly how they wanted to write the new Doctor by this point.

Technically…if the tray was made by a high enough grade of material, which is unlikely but possible, it could plug the hole through sheer air pressure long enough for someone to be able to repair it properly, eventually it would cause an issue and it’s not a permanent fix, but in the situation, it’s good enough.

I think this not only the second Doctor solidified but also it’s where the whole character of ‘The Doctor’ completely characterfully manifests. The ‘there are some corners’ speech, is the absolute identity of The Doctor brilliantly soliloquy’d in just ten mere seconds. No new Who speech, as long and as detailed as they can be (and I like new Who), can go anywhere near the identifiable clarity of that ten second Troughton epic. No disrespect to what went before, but this is the template of The Doctor, holistically nailed. Gx

As far as I've watched from Classic Who, the Second Doctor is the one who takes the longest to find his foot, Pertwee needed only his first story, Tom Baker only needed his first episode, while Troughton took three stories to become the Second Doctor we all know and love.

The Cybermen were at their absolute best in Revenge of the Cybermen. That Cyberleader was on another level 🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗 I find all the 2nd Doctors stories either to be good or really good and that's thanks to the performances of the Doctor and all his companions. Enemy of the World, Mind Robber, Evil of the Daleks, Tomb of the Cybermen, The War Games undoubtedly among the shows absolute best

Completely agree about Ben and Polly being increasingly thin characters saved by Craze and Wills performances - such a shame given how great they are in stories like the smugglers and the highlanders. After gradually becoming written more and more like Dodo, they'll eventually be written out like her too. Innes Lloyd really did have an awful track record for treating companions well

Had The Moonbasian Cybermen featured The Tenth Planet Monbasian Cybermen I feel that this story would have achieved cult status.
(Did you see what I did there?).
It has always irked me that the Cybermen have always been visually different in every story - I know it's supposed to underlined their augmentation but every time it happens the Body Shock of flesh and machine is lessened.
Great Story - doesn't need Jamie. Ben and Polly really shine upon meeting a previous adversary ... oh, and Doctor Two becomes way to serious on the discovery of Cyber involvement. (It's like he's got a score to settle?).
