  • In this video we're taking a look at some great new MIDI controller pedals from Beat Bars.
    Coming all the way from Poland, these are programmable MIDI pedals that connect to the computer through USB. They're made of strong but lightweight aluminum with spongy rubber pad that actually grips the ground quite well.
    Full disclosure - Beat Bars sent me these in exchange for a review. I only paid import fees.

    Very good. I like the start and stop the transport switch / quick-punch function idea. Def makes it easier to play guitar and punch-in and out. Look mom, no hands! Thanks Jon!

    That's cool! I wonder why no one else makes such switches. Apparently they also have midi adapters for regular expression pedals and switches (just usb though, no midi port). That's also nice.
    I think their expression pedal can also be useful for emulating hi-hat pedal (for those sequencers which can assign HH position to a CC). Although no one seems to make expression pedals that feel like drum pedals, with some sort of spring action.

    Thanks for the review. What is the resolution like on the expression pedal? From the pictures, assume 127 values in increments of 1? Is there a dead band action, like on the FCB1010, which means no values are sent out until the foot wiggles a predetermined rate - which is absolutely frustrating, making it impossible for fine control, also the FCB1010 outputs in increments of 10, again useless as a wah wah controller where fine pitch adjustment is necessary. Double bytes anyone? 127 different values with single byte, what about double byes? I have Reaper but now only use Ableton Live. Thanks in advance.

    I have the moog but to control cc1 or cc11 it is jumpy, is the ex3 smoother? I don’t see the fader jumping in your video, so it seems better than the moog?

    Does having the pedal as it's own controller basically eliminate the step of needing to route midi from another track when using an expression pedal into a midi keyboard?

    I purchased the same Moog Ep-3 pedal you showed in this video for controlling amplitube's wah. I found that the "heel to toe" travel distance of the Moog to be greater than that of a typical crybaby hardware pedal, thus making rapid "quavering" type sounds (hard to explain) difficult to achieve. If you know what I mean, have you any tips for any work-around. Maybe some sort of midi plugin that constricts the cc message range sent from the Moog?
    Open question, any ideas are welcome.
    (I live in a radio transmission tower apparently, so running a real wah pedal isn't an option)

    Hey, I bought one of beat bars midi USB adaptors which I'm trying to use with an expression pedal, but reaper isn't recognising it. Any idea why this could be happening? Cheers man

      @Stormgnome 4 роки тому

      @@locutz Have you tried any other Daws?
      If so why did you decide to switch?
      In a general sense I wouldn't call the midi sequencer bad, it has all the functions you need and none of the other daws I've tried has been that much different.
      As for drum samplers, there's a bunch of free ones that lets you load in your own samples.

      @@Stormgnome been looking for a replacement for some days now , I decided to switch cause I was using bootleg daw software my bro had me feeling guilty as a producer . I have Ableton lite but there's things about it I don't like Reaper fitted my budget at the time so I went for it ,it's a love hate relationship I have with reaper ,thinking bout using rewire just to use the drum rack and I'll be happy lol
