Amazing! This is closely to how to set up Mainstage and Helix Native! You can also set it up to engage the wah with the wah itself! In mainstage, create a new assignment, type Absolute, using the same CC number as the wah, MIDI Through “Automatic”, send value to “none”. Map that to the switch controlling the wah bypass in helix native. Then use the “scale parameter” functionality in mainstage to disengage the switch when in pedal back position!

I've been a musician for years, recording at home for many of those years, and as a software dev (indie) I am not confident I would have figured this out on my own lol. Honestly, when it comes to music I like to get right to it, but my budget doesn't let that happen. Awesome video and thank you!

Just discovered this tutorial, and, after scratching my head and dispairing (and swearing!!) for so long ... Eureka - it works!! Thanks so much ... I can now get on with my retirement project of a cover of "White Room" ... !!
Just FYI - it might be helpful to others to say what my gear setup is :-
MacBook Pro with Logic Pro X; guitar into Scarlett 6i6; Amplitube 5; Roland EV-5 Expression Pedal plugged into iRig Keys Pro (plug into keyboard before connecting USB to MacBook).
I had a bit of a struggle working out how to get Logic to "see" the keyboard!! (although it plays instantly if used with Software instruments Piano etc) - found the answer in a short tutorial :- Logic Pro > Control Surfaces > Device > Logic Remote > Output Port and Input Port > iRig KEYS Pro
I then followed Gabor's tutorial through to recording a track with Wah (btw I chose the "Satch Wah")
    Smiling again ...

This is a great video - thanks. Another way, if you don't mind printing the effect to the guitar, is to simply setup a software instrument track, load MIDI controlled effect, set up side chaining to the guitar input and then route this track via bus to an audio track where you can record the guitar. Create a stack to neaten it all up.

An even easier way of doing it in Logic is to use smart controls. Set the parameter mapping to "Amplitube - Param 1". The external assignment is set by using the learn-button, then touching the exp-pedal. Go back to Amplitube, right mouse button on the wah-wah and set "assign automation" to "Param 1: Wah..." . All done, ready to go.

I wish there was a way for doing the opposite ->Fully opened pedal closing one effect and activating other. And same with fully closed pedal - closing one and opening other.
    For an example:
When fully CLOSED = You get to use wah-wah effect for CHORD PROGRESSIONS
    &
When fully OPENED = You get the drive in for RIFFS

This ALMOST worked for me. My midi track was able to record the pedal's midi, but setting the sidechain back to the guitar track did not result in the guitar track's sound being applied to the midi amplitube channel.
By the way, I'm using the iRig Stomp I/O pedal board in hopes that I can use the board's built in expression pedal with amplitube while recording. But no luck so far :(

    • @TSFAHTPS
      @TSFAHTPS  6 місяців тому

If you don’t want to record it but just play then any of the IK Multimedia interfaces will do! This video is really only about recording what the expression pedal does in a DAW like Logic!
The AXE IO One for example is not very expensive and has two expression pedal inputs in the back, so you can have an expression pedal for a Wah or Whammy or anything like that PLUS a dual switch so you can change channels on the amp or turn effects on or off - it’s very easy to assign what the expression pedal and the buttons do

I don't suppose you could do an addendum video where you don't use your midi airstep interface to show how the pedal works directly into your axe i/o? There has to be a hidden feature that must be clicked to make it all work in Logic. (I happen to have the same i/o and expression pedal as you).

It will not only not work most of the time, it will forget all your hard work setting it up next time you start the app. Its super easy in the standalone amp sims.

    • @TSFAHTPS

You should be able to calibrate that from your AXE I/O Control Panel App!

I kinda accidentally stumbled across that...you can technically hook up a midi keyboard and use the mod or pitch wheel on it to do the same!
