I agree.. PS5 is a better version from the line lattitude 3, and is not an upgraded version of PS4S nor anything from its line!.. Many buyers tend to misunderstood this fact.
You're right, the PS4S is its replacement and a good street/track tire, but the PS5 is a pure UHP street tire. The Cup 2 would be a more track focused street tire. Can definitely recommend the PS4S, great street tire and holds up pretty well on track
Should've gone for the PS4S as that's the direct successor of the PSS. Anyway would you mind sharing where that PS5 was made? It should be on the sidewall. Also if there's any sort of "ST" marking anywhere
That "cracking" just hapens on tires used hard. Also if they're old it could mean they do it faster. (Sometimes they sell you older tires) that are not used yet
Pilot sport S 5 is only available for oem figment to 21 inch wheels for brands like Aston Martin The regular pilot sport 5 is a normal tire you can buy in any size
got them few weeks ago, before i had china tires. michelin: better tire compound, deeper grooves. china: cheaper But both tires has same huge flaw, thread is not fully mirrored, these tires should not only have outside marking but also left or right side marking on them. but all tires are actually made for left side and that was deeeeeeply disapointing by michelin😢 next year il look for continental or goodyear.

Moving from super pilot sports as said previous older design . Moved to ps4S on rear and ps5 on front . Fitting then this week so I’ll let ya know the difference
Pss is more of a track tyre with higher operating temps and solid side wall. That’s why people prefer the softer daily friendly 4,4s,5. I assure u pss are ur best bet for track. Hence why car manufactures put it on their cars
How are you liking these? I have the PSS as well, lovely when dry but unfortunately it rains a lot here in The Netherlands. How do these PS5 feel? Any differences you notice? I hear they grip good but have soft sidewalls. Cheers!
@@LamannaGarage let me know. I bought my M140i in June, with 4 new PSS*, I’m half way now, which is decent for the miles I did. pilot sport 4S is the best currently The pilot sport 4 was the luxury tire, and the pilot sport 4S was the sport tire, The new pilot sport 5 replaces the pilot sport 4 so its the more luxury oriented tire speaking from experience, my m3 competition came with pilot super sports back in the day with the bmw star, but after going to the pilot sport 4S's its just noticably better and grippier especially in the wet
I had the 4s originally and was slippin' and sliding but to be fair the tread wasn't great - for how much tyre was left it did grip well. When changing to the ps5 - they were much better but were also new so - hard to have a direct comparison.
@@LamannaGarage yes, basically also a softer sidewall PSS most sportive PS4S close behind PSS, but better in wet & cold PS4 and PS5 are more comfort biased tyres
PS5 aren’t really sports tyres. No wonder they cooked on the track. Michelin don’t sell an S variant of the PS5 yet. Do more research and you’ll be fine.
@TheWorldListens did one track day and a great improvement. Had no dramas. I mean my others were pretty tyred.. see what I did there.. but went well. The car is now sold with a g87 incoming!
Fun fact: less thread = more grip in dry
Unless the compound is hardened and cracked like it was here
tread, not thread

No sparks no new tires 😂... Easy 5k miles left on those
The PS5 is not a replacement for the PSS, it’s not as sporty and not meant for track at all.
Definitely not as sporty, but it’s a road/track tire.
@@ethayer1 No it's 100% a road tire. Doesn't mean that you can't use it on track but it's not made for it.

This person is correct, the PS5 will not hold up well on track compared to the PSS / PS4S
That is neither cracking nor sidewalls.
😂😂😂😂great voiceover song
My pilots only survived one track day
I love the song FR
Michelin often likes bolder wide walls with less stretch if you're trackin. They also work better on very light cars because of soft the wide wall is.
Then for heavy cars, what model-brand, do you recommend?.
That is tread, not sidewall
Jordan needs to make a tire😂
Shoulda just went with p4s

Hey mate. I definitely would have but unfortunately I have sold the car for a new incoming bmw which I will be posting soon which comes with ps4s ;)
España 🇪🇸
This looks like BMW F2x, no PS4S available in that size at that time (245/35R18). Now Michelin has it on their website, but afaik still hard to get.
