  • People who sell drugs are people- and not always the people you think. In this episode of Drug Seller Stories, we talk to Kenneth Mack who receives methadone treatment for heroin addiction. Kenneth notes how life changing the therapy has been, but fears how being in possession of methadone puts him at risk for harassment and punishment from law enforcement.
It’s time to view people who use and sell drugs with compassion. Check out other videos from this series:

Heroin on its own is not bad at all in my experience??? It’s when the crack gets involved with it mixing them together. That’s when it ruined me. Heroin alone is very mild and I always had money and took care of my hygiene, never got sick or hangover etc.
It’s the crack that was the real bad one for me. Combined with it.

Finally finally I got off it…I couldn’t wait. I hated every second of goin to the clinic everyday, blowing in the breathalyzer everyday, meeting with my counselor weekly, group meetings weekly. I could barely have a normal life. It makes working difficult cause of the clinic hours and getting to a job on time. Methadone is its own little nightmare. So when I hear younger kids who barely have a habit say they want to get on the clinic I just cringe.

Personally, methadone saved my life and has given me back everything heroin/pills took from me. I was on heavy opiates before I was even a toddler due to a disability and the constant surgeries & physical therapy I needed. Plus, just the pain of my handicap. But it my teens I was told about something else that could take "all of the pain away." The high, being pain free and feeling normal for the first time was really addictive and I let it take over my life.
I got on methadone 12 years ago and it helps with pain AND blocks opiate receivers so I got absolutely no high the one time I relapsed. So I have no reason to use. It keeps me clean and functional. I think a lot of people make the mistake of taking too little or too much. It is a balance.
I wish it worked for everyone. It makes me sad to see so many people in the comments who don't have the same positive experience and I hope you all find your peace. 💕

I'm going in for 1st time treatment. I'm scared to death, but so ready my question to you is, did you go through any withdrawal period when getting off heroin and taking metadone. My fear is that I will relapse if I have to go thru any withdrawal symptoms? The nurse told me they would give me other meds to ease any withdrawal issues. I guess I want to know what to expect my first week of switching over.

    • @lynnkayee1015
      @lynnkayee1015 6 місяців тому

@@Ioioio2013 While I can only speak for myself and a handful of others I've spoken to about the beginning, there was nothing serious. For me I barely noticed anything physically. What I did feel was NOTHING compared to what I usually felt when not using. The cravings were almost non existent, which really helped me deal with the slight discomfort. The biggest issue was I had some trouble sleeping the first couple of weeks. Everyone I have spoken to (6 in total), had give or take a little pretty much the same experience. Except one...they no problems other than runny nose. Overall, it wasn't an issue. Especially because they upped my dose every 2/3 days that I asked. Until you get past 100mg and then the doctor has to approve where I go - I have been at 93mg after going down from 97 because I was starting to nod off during the day. I was completely comfortable by a month.
I understand being scared. We all are. I really hope you find the same success. What is most difficult at first is the habit to want to go back, especially with those who have completely turned their lives upside down to the point there is no one to support them. Most clinics have programs or can refer you somewhere for help from others in your position or that have already had success. It hurts to be doing well but having those around you (understandably) think this just more lip service. Other than that I found the transition to be so much easier than expected. Here's to hoping you do too.
Sorry to ramble lmao If you have any questions or struggle during your transition...I'm happy to help or just be here. Good luck.
Just don't be afraid to speak to your nurses about any issues or withdrawal symptoms. They can (where I have been) up you a little more based on them.

When you follow the laws, & do things legally, you don’t get the opportunity to scream victim at anything that happens to ya. Just like 9.999/10 videos of “police brutality” are always with a speech that says something like “they weren’t resisting”, even though the video clearly shows otherwise. “Driving reckless, & running from a cop doesn’t warrant death”. Even though driving reckless puts others at risk all for the multiple stupid choices made back to back, & that running from the cops is indeed a felony more often than not which gives the right, & need for the perpetrator to be stopped by any, & all means necessary. The sooner people figure out that it’s actually the judge you want to talk too, & the jury you want your side, a good lawyer who understands laws along with the local circuit, & that fighting the police on site is just as dumb as running a motorcycle into the rear end of a semi truck. You’ll never win. Your family might win off those back to back shitty choices, but those consequences are going to be paid in full sooner or later.

She would nod off ALL day, sometimes with cigarettes. There were about 5,000 burn holes from her cigs around the house.

No. Being OFF of methadone is the hell on earth once you are on it.
I was on 240mg and got kicked off cold turkey (for dumb reasons) plus I was using heroin most days in my addiction.
The withdrawal for me was literally evil and lasted 9 days until I had to get back on 60mg of methadone in rehab.
Methadone saved my life for many reasons (including pain relief) but almost took my life once I got off of it.
I would probably not wish the withdrawal of it on my worst enemy.
I am thankful to be on it again via a better clinic and it has made everything better.

I heard the withdrawal can have remnants up to 6 months, too. My suggestion is if you can stay sober without getting on it, do that - but for a person such as myself in constant physical agony from chronic pain and opiate cravings, I could not live without this medication. It saved my life but the downside is I can never get off it without being so very monitored and cautious if I even wanted to.

Family Prac. Docs should be able to give this life saving med. Bup. is not an option for some of us. I've been it by a van, learned to walk again, etc... Thus, I suffer with pain. Kratom I use on a daily basis because it is legal and cheap and doesn't make my life unmanageable. It's a $1.50 a day addiction. People who go to Star-bucks have a 6-12 dollar a day habit.

He did not get arrested for possessing his medication. You’re not allowed to remove the label. If you’re going to take your meds outside of your house, you should have the bottle. Don’t wanna carry meds? I don’t blame ya. Keep last months bottle with just what you need. Still a valid script, & it won’t mess with your count. It’s common sense. What’s not common sense is the difference between getting “arrested” vs convicted. One can be arrested for anything, at any time. Doesn’t mean a damn thing. Inconvenience, sure. If you still end up walking out with no criminal record, or jail time because you were indeed following the laws, & the court finds that you’re innocent. Arrest’s don’t mean a damn thing. The only people that ask “have you been arrested” are generally the ones that have no idea how the court system works. Someone that knows, or actually wants to know what somebody’s record is like will say do you have any convictions. Cases, paperwork, pulling a bid, C, S, or F time? Stay in suburbia.

My Daddy was on it for 15 years. #2 A lot of people just need it to live a normal life without buying Cocaine or Heroin or whatever off the streets. With this surge in street drugs being laced with fentanyl and many dying it's safer to get the legal Methadone from a clinic too. #3 Many don't want to get off of it, some can't because they can't afford the time off work to go through the withdrawal process. They adopt a 'if it ain't broke don't fix it' attitude. It's working so why should they risk relapsing trying to get off of it.

    • @lynnkayee1015
      @lynnkayee1015 6 місяців тому

      There isn't.
BUT the clinics in my area have some sort of checks that based on trust & your history. Like you have the chance to "level up" every 3 months - you have to pass 1-3 random UAs a month (that also check the levels of methadone in your system), do x amount of groups/personal therapy a month based on your level. And the first level is going to clinic every day, the next is weekends take home, then is mon/wed/fri + weekends, then one week and then two weeks. Plus they can call you up randomly where you have to go within 24 hours where they check all of your bottles (including the seal for openings or even needle punctures) and UA you again. If you miss or mess up you either start over or if you've done well on them for awhile before, you get 30 days at level one plus extra random call ins for the next year. If your methadone levels in the UA are off what they normally are, they understand sometimes you might get sick and throw up or something, but they will UA you more after for a while and if you have take homes they'll call you in more. If it happens repeatedly, its back to one. Failing UAs for something like alcohol gets you to 30 days at one but something serious makes you start over. And all UAs are supervised. Also your therapy sets goals you have to prove you've kept up with or are working on. Such as employment, school, mental health, etc.
So it isn't perfect by any means, but it is pretty effective.
Sorry this was long, but there isn't really a way to explain the overview process without detail lmaooo

Dude I came here because I deliver drugs to pharmacies for a living. I know the methadone patients, some even by name.
I will tell you that they are always there like clockwork waiting for the store to open. Methadone patients are sadly otherwise not exactly "hard workers" or "early risers" and all of the ones i know are unemployed. Such is the way with alot of addicts. But this drug is clearly worth waking up early for. They are more reliable and show up on time to a specific location than most employed people i know.
One of them gets driven in a cab. Hes never late.
If i am early, he will push past the door and tell me that hes allowed in. (Hes not really but they tolerate him). Hes not malicious but definitely peculiar and not mentally all there. But i can tell he used to be sharper.
Hes an older guy, has the same walk, the exact same voice, the same type of fatness, even speaks the same way.
      I am obviously now intrigued.
My theory is that he either
      1. suffered some kind of permanent brain damage from an OD or serious, prolonged, heavy use.
      2. Got this way from methadone abuse
I know theres something up with methadone. Theres suprisingly little real information out there about its effects. And any doctor you speak to about it will only tell you the same bs that the public believes
"It just stops them from being able to get high"
"Its psychoactive effects are very minimal"
Ironically, ive had conversations with pharmacists who say its some of the nastiest stuff humans have invented, and that whether its "better" for them than heroin or pain pills is "eh, kinda i guess"

I've been on it 13 years jumped off three times by going lower I'm on 18 mg im in the states it works it's just difficult though but it's a better alternative than being addicted to heroin

@ree7557 it certainly is . Since I took my methadone script seriously. I was on it for about 20 years just to supplement my Heroin habits to stop getting sick. I won't ever go back to that shit life . I still got a 30 year diazepam and klonopin addiction that I can't see me getting off ever. Mind u I said that about Heroin.

I'm on 80mg methadone. Were I live you can get diamorphine (heroin) from a doctor supervised injections. Methadone works for me.

If you take methadone daily, you are still in active addiction!

Methadone is the fuckin devil. You switch from being dependant on heroin to being dependant on methadone. And it's 10x harder to get off methadone. If I knew this when I was on the dope I would have quit the dope.
