thank god for Bach! without him there would be no Beethoven
For those who don't know about the story behind Bach's Brandenburg concertos. In 1721, Bach composed six “concertos for various instruments”. He dedicated them to a German nobleman and sent the manuscript as a gift, hoping to land a job as the court composer in Brandenburg. The nobleman never replied. Bach eventually took another job in Leipzig, where he lived for the rest of his life. The 6 concertos were lost for 130 years. They were never performed. The manuscript was eventually sold for about $20 and shelved in a library. The Brandenburg Concertos sat there until 1849, when they were discovered and published for the first time. Thank god.
Thank you! Beautiful history !

I love this story. so we know Beethoven never heard these but I can HEAR how he took his foundation in Bach to create his music of the spheres. thank god for Bach & Beethoven.
if only modern humanity could make them proud
My first exposure to Bach was my parents 8 track of “Swiched on Bach”
1968 when I was 6 years old
The results were permanent
Musician for life
Listening to classical music can help reduce stress and soothe the soul. It's often used in stress reduction and provides a tranquil space in our busy modern lives.
Ciertamente.
Bach is my top main man! The BEST!! How he soothes my soul, wanting to hear more & more of his ear candy!
Plus it’s “candy” also for one’s heart, soul and mind!
Went to a street market and into a second hand shop called Merda... crap in English. Found this tatty copy of Brandenburg and it was a scratchy vinyl. It stopped me in my tracks as I was listening to Jimi Hendrix at age 14. My favourite classical creation and excites me now 60 years later ... Both do. Thank you Johann.
Can you imagine musicians actually playing this in the 18th century feeling the beauty of the music, being amazed that they were creating these sublime masterpieces! from Bach's pen!
these were never performed, apparently
@@affrything We don't know that for sure
This wonderful and comfortable performance is out of this world, and embodies the musical aesthetics of Bach
Great, fantastic and immortal Johann Sebastian Bach!!! Respect forever!!! 👍👍👍
The day starts better when discovering this music. It's an excellent source of motivation, creating a positive atmosphere. This is truly a musical masterpiece!
Just listening to Bach’s music makes I forget about the trouble and annoyances of this transient world
Bach`s Brandenburg is full of joys and sorrows of the human world
Bach has always been my favorite. and the Brandeburgs top the list. Thank you so much for uploading God's music!

The best I've listened to on UA-cam....the slower tempo is (for me) the way it should be performed.

A masterpiece from the incomparable maestro without equal
This is the tempo I heard played back in the 1960's, so I naturally like it better than the faster versions.
Yeah, me too - I've just been listening to the Claudio Abbado versions - he takes them at "C'mon lads - the pubs'll be shut soon" tempo.
It is the great version by I Musici
TOTALLY! Thank you!
This program , which contains all the Brandenburg Concertos , is beyond description , immeasurable , specutacular , inspirational and unfathomable , and is full of admiration and deep emotion , and comfortable to the ear and the mind .

I love the Brandenburgs. I was exposed to tons of Baroque and Classical from birth and it's all part of my development and my psyche.
You must be very refined and positive💯
I was not, and my parents listened to "show tunes". But as a young teenager I discovered baroque music. I'm 80 now, and I've never wavered in my love for Bach.

One more thing. The most indelible impression is done with Concerto #5 in D Major, Allegro, which most performers LOVE to interpret. This is done as written. Just ask Wendy Carlos. Peace Brothers (and Sisters).

Ah, ye ol' Brandenburg Concertos: erudite, vivacious, crystalline, sublime, celestial.
More than "erudite and celestial"! Number three especially is like a skilled lover, allowing excitement to slowly build and build into a truly sensuous experience.

Bach. Bach. Bach for eternity.
Absolutely love them and especially #3 32:33 - Brandenburg Concerto no. 3
I remember the version of Part 1 of Bach Brandenburg Concerto 3 in the video “Bach’s greatest hits” is more lively than the version in this video!
@@user-np8dn6bc6c it's often played faster, but this slower speed allows the tension to build and build, as Bach goes through all those wonderful chord progressions. You just KNOW the chord is going to resolve itself eventually, but Bach makes you wait ...and wait ...and wait. Wonderful!
The best.

In spite of mankind‘s constant ignorance God decides to send us gifts. JS Bach was and still is one of his most precious.

(I have listen to lots of different ones)
The melody is something really exceptional to any other classical music composer. Bach knows exactly how the music should start, how it should continue and how it should end, in a way that can sometimes even clearly represent a life journey.

Wow. Thanks for the history. Yes. Thank God.
I become J. S. Bach's fan because many years ago a pc game called Civlization IV uses Brandenburg Concerto no. 3 and no.6 as BGM of Renaissance era. It was the first time I heard these music and I was amazed.
Actually I don't undestand and am not a fan of classical music, but now I can hear all J. S. Bach's music for hours (no other composers, only Bach). I don't know why I just feel his music way more superior to any other classical musical composers.
Maybe because his music contains less emotion, less brainwashing, and contains more harmony(?), sense of structure(??), logicality(???)... Sorry I can't explain. My English is not good enough.😓
Your english is good enough to explain yourself perfectly as you just did. I feel you my friend. ( i know what you tried to say) un abrazo hermano.!
The American pundit William F. Buckley often wrote about Bach, memorably saying "In heaven, whenever Bach picks up his harp, everybody becomes quiet."
That's an amazing insight from someone with a "naive" ear. Its no insult but rather a testament to your remarkable musical intelligence.
Your English is good enough: Bach's music does seem more cerebral and restrained than Mozart's or Beethoven's; a sense of pristine purity pervades his work.
Civ IV has GREAT music, lots of which I had never heard before. For me it was Orlande de Lassus--search the name on youtube and you'll recognize it immediately from the medieval period.
I was shocked to hear four melodies I was already familiar with and already loved but had never really known where they came from. And now I have at least two new favorites :)
bach while passing away ... said ... be not sad ... I'm going to the source of music 🎶
Excelente: carisma, história e vivência...a nata dos bons tempos que contribuíram e contribuem para tempos melhores.
Brandenburg is the immortal lullaby of the soul,
This is exactly the way Johann Sebastion Bach wanted it expressed. As written. No musical performers interpretation, rather mathematical as his era allowed us to excel. Thank-you.
Sebastian.
Kindly look at your spelling
This recording is quite outdated actually, not in line with the practice ad the time of Bach.
A true hidden treasure!Bravo!😊
In my opinion, Bach understood intuitively how music works at the most basic, granular, level, than any other composer. He understood the purpose of each note and its relation to the other notes around it in a very fundamental way, and I think that informs how a lot of his music is written. I love listening to his music not only because of how it sounds, but because of how it functions. It's harmonious, in both an audible and a structural way.
I think of Bach as the Einstein of composers for the unique way that he was able to distinguish the "atoms" of music. It's not a perfect metaphor -- but just I love the works of many other composers, there were many other scientists who made important, unique, and incredible contributions to human knowledge. But Einstein broke ground in terms of how he was able to understand the functionality of matter, just like Bach was unique in how he was able to understand and explore the functionality of music.
It is no coincidence, I think, that a lot of jazz players I know name Bach as their favorite classical composer. They have to understand music in a similarly intuitive way in order for them to improvise the way they do. Even though the sound produced is very different, the theory is based on the same ideas.
Bach is forever
Bach is to music what Newton is to physics
And Newton is to mathematics too

Bach's music flows uninterrupted, inexorably and overwhelmingly, unstoppable, and always winning our hearts and minds over for the good cause...
And from here, what this calls for next, may be the Concerto for two violins BWV 1043. An older recording with Yehudi Menuhin and David Oistrach recommended over all other newer versions.
Also, the piano concerto BWV 1052, with Glenn Gould.
Happy power listening!

Aliens have already reveled in this masterpiece. Bach , Master of Universe.
That was the challenge faced by Carl Sagan and a select group of scientists, technologists, and artists in the late ‘70s in advance of the 1977 launch of the Voyager spacecraft. Voyager left Earth carrying messages for our cosmic neighbors: the Golden Record. The record described Earth and its human inhabitants to potential extraterrestrial civilizations in an attempt to - as advisor B. M. Oliver expressed it - "appeal to and expand the human spirit."
