I worked at McDonald’s for two years. The ice tea is made in a gallon bucket (like the plastic ones at Home Depot) . Yes you could use these buckets for mopping but they weren’t. We literally just brewed the tea in them, then the tea is poured into those containers you get the tea out of.
I'm a current, soon to be ex employee of McD, and I can confirm we make our sweet tea in a mop bucket BUT WE DO NOT USE THAT SAME BUCKET FOR MOPPING THE FLOOR! We just needed a big container.
I am a current McDonald’s worker (sadly) and my store only has one of those buckets , can’t say how often it gets washed tbh , most of the time the sweet tea and iced coffee are brewed in the same container they are kept in but if none are available then the mop bucket it is 😂 oh and both sweet tea and iced coffee are brewed with ice already in the bucket which is probably the cause of both tasting different since the ice does melt 🤷🏻♀️
I worked at Sonic and they hired a teen after me who I saw using their bare hands to cup ice cream in a cup when it had fallen on the counter. Never saw them wash their hands. I saw many unsanitary things that made me think twice about eating fast food.
Last time I went to mcdonald is back in '97 and never looked back since. Let the others keep that boat afloat! As long as it's not coming out of my back pocket.🤨 plus their prices for a burger is a NO GO for me📈. Last time I order a meal, and I got a FREAKING SMALL BURGER. That was the last straw!
I don't eat fast food for that very reason. I've seen people behind the counter spitting on food, not putting gloves or masks on to prevent saliva landing on food. There is no qc. I make much better food at home and I know it's safe.
So the thing about the mop bucket - yes the tea is brewed in a bucket, but it's obviously never actually used for cleaning supplies and is specifically used ONLY for the tea. McDonald's has those mobile mop caddies, the ones on wheels. But yes the tea is brewed in buckets. ETA; We used buckets because our dispensers were tall and oblong and brewing directly into them would have 1 caused a lot to splatter during brewing and 2 could tip over too easily during the brewing. ETA 2: I stopped working at McDonald’s mid 2016, and they may have changed it since then. It sounds like a lot of places now have brewers designs specifically for the tea canisters which is awesome and I hope that’s become the norm because those buckets were annoying.
Right, for Thanksgiving every year we soak our turkey in a giant white bucket people would use for something completely unedible and we only ever used it for the turkey. Somethings a tea pitcher ain't going to cut it with how much tea mcyds going to sell.
@@Princess_Fluffer my location used the buckets to brew and then would pour it into the metal dispensers, since the dispensers were tall oblong shaped and would likely fall over if we brewed directly into them.
People are shocked that the McDonalds food doesn't rot but is full of salt which is a preservative. Also when I move the stove every 2 years to clean under it theres no rotted food just dried out food
Right? The burger claim needs actual testing, though the way McDonald responded is a bit off in my opinion. Plus, honey can survive a long time too, yet it is safe?
@@1AnimeChannel don't use honey as an example, that stuff is proven to be anti bacterial lol, but like, there's a reason you can keep flour in a cupboard cause its not getting moisture, same with most other non waterfilled foods like a burger if you really wanted to.
So I worked at McDonald’s for 7 years. The sweet tea is made in a bucket that looks like a mop bucket but it’s only used for sweet tea. It’s not used to mop (at least at the 5 locations I worked for). It’s very different (look and build) than what they use to mop and clearly labeled as sweet tea bucket.
I've worked there and yes they do make tea in a bucket but not a bucket that's used for cleaning. It's completely fine and it was not used for anything else but tea. No the cups are not the same size.IDK The McDonalds I worked at was very clean and everything was made correctly and I never saw any wrong doing. We always made sure the ice cream machine was ready for orders. Although I haven't worked there for about 6 years so who knows how they operate now.
This... is the dumbest scandal I've ever seen. The reason McDonalds and Jack in the Box didn't respond is because anyone with critical thinking skills would know that it's not correct?? I'm begging people to develop some higher reasoning skills.
People saying: "nevermind, it's only one dollar" forget that McDonald's is not only in America, where fast food is incredibly cheap and free refills exist
And people outside of America forget our drinks are filled to the brim with ice. And that our food is poison and that's why it's so cheap. You can't even get anything vegetarian in USA Mcdonald's other than apple slices and apple pie. Anyone who thinks Americans have some kind of food privilege is very ignorant. Any cheap food you can get is toxic, unhealthy, and lacking in micronutrients, which leads to malnourishment and other many health issues. And we can't even afford medical treatment. So go take your privileged ignorance elsewhere hun.
I am a current employee of McDonald's and, at my franchised restaurant, the tea, sweet tea, and iced coffee are made using a machine with McDonald's logo on it and is poured directly into the containers, dunno if this has to do with it not being owned by McDonald's itself, but rather a family that puts the restaurant under the McDonald's name, but the mop bucket tea is not true

Me to. I hear normal chicken can take about a week or 2 to digest. Can you imagine a mcdonalds burger, with grease??? Many people are overweight due to lack of fluid digestion and bathroom number 2 usages/fluidity
I swear every summer we would go to McDonald's to get ice cream and every other day the machine was broken! Needless to say, we gave up on their ice cream.
i worked there for 3 years. sometimes it is broken but majority of the time it’s bc it’s either in heat mode or is being cleaned. it’s takes HOURS but overnight people don’t do it
Didn't they said that those mixers or what ever is heavy? It just mean that the employees don't want to refill the Ice cream machine. Not really mcdonald's fault.
"The food in our stomach is gonna rot??" First, say hi to stomach acid. Second, they say it would rotten in an environment with bacterias and mold, I'm not a biologist but I'm pretty sure that an ALIVE human stomachs bacterias are different from the bacterias of that piece of cheese in your fridge that just ask to be eaten before the expiration date. And if you have mold in you stomach, go see a doctor QUICKLY.
At least someone with brain that knows we have acid in our stomach to destroy (sorry I’m limited on my vocabulary) our food so that our body can process it properly
These people actually question the food as if they feel in danger of dyeing because the McDonald’s that they ate in 2019 is still in there gut as if there isn’t some called stomach acid?!? Bro someone get these people a book and a healthy diet🤦🏾♂️
FOR REALLLL!!! I was questioning myself, I was like "wait so the acid in our stomach not strong enough to decompose the burger!?! " I was getting confused of what I learned in 2nd grade xD
Everything that goes through your digestive system leaves something behind. And if such a thing is passed through frequently, there is a buildup of that something. Now, what does consuming a thing that does not decompose naturally mean for me as it affects my whole, body, soul & spirit? I would think that's what people are worried about & not whether they've yet pooped their 2yearold McDonald's or not.
@@satisr8497 I mean... It obviously won't stay in your stomach, if it doesn't decompose or get absorbed in the small intestine, it'll move on and get pooped out
So. I worked at Wendy’s for 2 years back in high school. Back then, the cups were all closer in size than the ones shown here. Our manager showed us that yes, they do truly hold very near the same amount of liquid because of the amount of ice taking up cup space. I saw it with my own eyes. The same goes for some of the French fry sizes. We were taught how to shake them in just right so that they just took up more space in each container. I can’t speak for anything other than what I saw and was taught.
People really getting pressed over soda sizes like if this country doesn’t already have a health and obesity’s epidemic going on 😔 And I know that many people who go to fast food could still keep themselves in shape but fast food has a really big contributor.
I tought the same, an american small (16 ounce) is already bigger than a medium in Hungary (4 dl ~ 13,5 ounce) and they complain that some rando on the internet said that they are the same size (which is not true)
I don't know about you but I work for my money. Although I don't eat McDonalds or drink soda I would be pressed too if I found out I was being charged extra for equal amount of a drink in a larger cup. I don't think ppl care about the soda, its the PRINCIPLE!
@@PolishedBeauty But its not even real, you can buy them and see for yourself. Im honestly baffled how many people believe something that they just seen on the internet
When it comes to the non-decomposing part... I thought people would be concerned about the burgers being old and reheated or something. Which, if your curious, they’re not lol. The patties have a specific holding time and are supposed to be thrown out after the holding timer goes off.
I like how she's not biased, she doesn't show one side more than others. she just presents all the facts and lets you come to your own conclusion, which is rare these days. im subscribing :)
Also the word 'could' makes total sense. Like just imagine you cheese in the fridge: sometimes it'll go bad very soon, other times it's still fine weeks after the best before date. But the conditions are exactly the same. So conditions alone don't make decomposition. You also need bacteria and fungi (spores) to be present in the food in the first place in sufficient numbers to grow fast enough /before/ the burger dries out enough. Which is exactly what happens to every other piece of slices bread: take it out of the bag and lay it in a dry room: it'll just turn into rock with absolutely no mould. Like what happens to hamburgers. Like it not decomposing is a good thing: it means there isn't enough bacteria and fungi present to cause a problem. Why would anyone even complain about that?
1. There is a difference between cup sizes 2. Sweet tea is made in a sweet tea container with a spout. After it’s done brewing we take the container to the front where you can clearly see us pouring the sweet tea into a cup. 3. Fries are 9/10 always fresh but they are not days old more like minutes. 4. At my location the ice cream machine works at times but we are short staffed and really busy and making shakes, cones, and sundaes even more stressful but we rarely do that. When it is broken not everyone in the store knows how to fix it. At my location we stop serving ice cream around 3 am because the machine stops dispensing it. 5. It’s fast food, process food. It’ll just get stale and most likely won’t mold being stored away in shoe box in your closet. Watch some videos on McDonald’s food experiments or something.
The burger in a closet for over 20 years... I feel like McDonalds was in the right about that, there were no pickles or wet condiments left on it....and that thing did look dried out and petrified. Also for the tea, there are food grade buckets ..

@@lightningmcgee it's obviously going to be a new bucket. Like idk why people freak out. The tea despensers hold like 5 gallons of tea. Using a 5 gallon bucket with a handle vs having to do it 5 times to fill the despensers is just smart imo

Fun fact about McDonald's: Different McDonalds around the world have different requirements for food and etc. for example the Mcdonalds in Japan might taste fresher than the McDonalds in America because Japan might have higher requirements for the food and stuff like that while America feeds us anything. Edit: tysm for the likes, I was not expecting this to get so many likes Imao. but ty!
that explains a lot why everytime I see or hear abt the McDonald's in the states they look disgusting in comparison to here. The food, the employees and the fact that out ice cream machines are never broken, since even if one were to broke there's at least 2 in every McDonald's. Also the cup sizes were never an issue, cause the small is for kids, medium is the normal, and a lot of folks can't even drink the big cup fully. It's easy to tell the difference Edit: also abt the decomposing I only have the example of their fries, and they do decompose just like any other food does..

I worked at Wendy's as a teen in about 1987. The lettuce for the salad was kept in the freezer. It was chopped up and floating in a trashcan full of water. The trashcan was a normal regular trashcan, but I'm sure it was only used for the chopped lettuce. Well, I honestly can't say that it was only used for lettuce but I would hope so. During the pandemic, mcd's around my house had the lights out during their working hours. As I drove into the parking lot I saw pple inside. I drove up n asked if they were open. The girl said yes. When I asked if their lights had gone out she responded, no, we always turn the lights out so we don't have to wait on customers. 😮😮😮

The thing that makes me the maddest isn’t that stomach acid will dissolve the food but the fact that it *doesnt* sit in your stomach. If you eat something that is unable to be digested like chewing gum it will simply pass through your system so unless your pooping literal burgers I think it’s safe to eat.
"Does the food stays in you stomach forever" LOL Yes, the burger is just hanging out off to the side giving high fives to all the other food passing by in the stomach LOL 🤦♀️🤦♂️
My Dad had a family-style steakhouse. Very friendly for all ages. We had an ice cream station (three flavors & toppings, too!) That was always one of my main sidework tasks-emptying and then thoroughly cleaning the ice cream machine. Then the next AM, I mixed up the various flavors in (clean) 5-gal food buckets, and loaded them inside the machine for the day. Yes, we used the same type soft serve mix, but that’s nothing to lift as a 18-25 year old whose been working since 14. I never had a problem keeping up with the ice cream machine & toppings. So I agree with Dessy....it’s down to employee laziness at Mickey D’s. It’s too bad because we really like soft-serve. I’d definitely consider buying an older restaurant machine to put in our new home’s Outdoor Kitchen! And an ice flaker & Slushie machine for parties.
So, to clarify about the ice cream stuff, it’s only for specific restaurants with lazy employees. My father worked at McDonald’s as a manager and was the only one who knew how to fix the machines. The fact is, nobody really pays attention when they’re teaching this stuff, hence why the ice cream machine is basically always broken.
Your father knew how to fix the machine which is a big part of it. A lot of the machines are made so that the owners/franchisee HAS to call in a technician to fix the machine or respond to the particular error code the machine is showing. Also, the franchises are forced to by specific types of machines by McDonald's. Louis Rossman discusses this in some of his "Right to repair" videos which deal with the fact that companies these days make it difficult if not impossible for many product owners to fix their machines/equipment themselves. John Deer, Apple are other examples of companies that used to give schematics and sell parts for the consumer or 3rd party repair shop to fix broken machines but by making it more difficult if not impossible for anyone but the manufacturer to make these repairs they can both charge whatever they want for said repairs and ensure another consistent revenue stream.
@@icicle2979 ummmm be careful i commented earlier about working at mcdonalds 20 yrs ago, i remember once i was adding softserve mix into the hopper i found a roach in it. when i told the manager she told me just fish him out he didn't eat much. i never ate or drank anything from that store again unless i made it.
The workers at my local Mc Donald’s say "We don’t have Ice-cream" even when it’s on the menu every time me and my family go there 😢 Edit: It’s not on the menu anymore ☹️
My dad worked at McDonald’s when he was 16 and said that the ice cream machine was never broken because the machine had so many parts and they just didn’t want to put it back together.
Bottom line is; if you’re eating out ANYWHERE - you’re at the mercy of that restaurants practices, as well as each individuals personal hygiene and sense of decency. Every business has some sketchy area - and so do people. So it makes no difference if it’s fast food or some expensive place. If there are people involved- anything can happen
Having worked with food for 4 years now, can't agree more. Even the most reputable places will have their weak spots in their practice. Customers can't expect a team of people with different tendencies, habits, and opinions to run a perfectly tight ship. That doesn't mean every single place is dirty or poorly run, just that it's pointless to nit-pick or freak out every single time you notice something you don't like. Some things are totally unsafe and that's when it's understandable to be concerned, but other things are just kinda unconventional but still safe.
You're tight but it's sad to realize that people who buy from them have consented to their sketchy ways to avoid paying for more. It's a cheap tactic and their stockholders can easily pocket the money while their employees and inventory diminish per cost
The ice tea IS actually prepared in a bucket that looks like a mop bucket 🪣. However it is brand new and used only for tea. There is one designated for sweet tea and one designated for unsweetened tea. Also, it does not resemble a commercial mop bucket.
Yah, it's just a bucket, a huge bucket at that. Sweet tea is really a big deal in the south, so a lot of it has to be made at once. A bucket is convenient for holding at that tea. Do people think McDonald's use a giant kettle to make their tea xD the bucket's also very tall and would be very annoying to use with a mop.
Lol I used to work at a McDonald's years ago. The mop bucket thing is true. If you work back drive thru, in between taking orders and washing all the dishes, you had to make the tea and you made it into a bucket. I guess you can call it a mop bucket. But it wasn't used for mops, it was used for tea. It was just a large bucket on the floor.
well okay to clarify I don't think "bucket" is the best word to use even though it is one, it's more of a dispenser like you see at places that have lemonade/smoothies/slushies but made of stainless steel and has a spout that someone can open and close to fill a cup.

My location use metal containers 🤷
I made a lot of tea at McDonald’s and never put it in a mop bucket?? You just brew it into the tea dispensers

It’s not used to mop (at least at the 5 locations I worked for). It’s very different (look and build) than what they use to mop and clearly labeled as sweet tea bucket.

1. There is a difference between cup sizes

The fact is, nobody really pays attention when they’re teaching this stuff, hence why the ice cream machine is basically always broken.
Or the machine is getting cleaned

Sadly, true. Case in point-a food delivery driver pooping on TOP of a trash can in a building lobby after dropping off an order.
Are they supposed to make it one glass at a time?
Lol I used to work at a McDonald's years ago. The mop bucket thing is true. If you work back drive thru, in between taking orders and washing all the dishes, you had to make the tea and you made it into a bucket. I guess you can call it a mop bucket. But it wasn't used for mops, it was used for tea. It was just a large bucket on the floor.
well okay to clarify I don't think "bucket" is the best word to use even though it is one, it's more of a dispenser like you see at places that have lemonade/smoothies/slushies but made of stainless steel and has a spout that someone can open and close to fill a cup.
on the floor?? like I'm so OCD with the way food is handled before entering my mouth. I'll never have fast food again!
where i worked it wasnt on the floor but what matters is that it wasnt used for mopping and its clearly labeled tea

Very true lol
Yes it will make a small percent of change, but billions of people eat in the macdonald's so their business will still be going😂
@@bellycorregidor4834 it will make no change at all. I ain’t eating jack in the box the last time I was there my Mom and I got different things and our stomachs were messed up. The only thing in common we had was sausages. So not going back. Plus I don’t like McDonald’s other than their frys and desserts. I am a Wendy’s Stan.

@Mflamingi i think it depends where you live. our mcdonalds over here is so much better than the Mcdonalds in America. it basically looks like what is advertised.
@@CvntyPussyWIllow I mean it's not a secret that American McDonalds is one of the worse but these people don't know anything else. Just think about it, you get for 1 Dollar some beef AND bread? How much real food do you actually get is the real question ^^

POV: you're watching the whole thing while calmly eating McDonald's
So why did everybody get angry for cup sizes and the cup not filling up all the way?
Maybe because they thought they'd be paying more for the same amount.

@@Kitty-mb2rf that's what I guess 🤷♀️
@@Todd.Momma.06 That would make sense. But it's fun y cause if you pay attention to the original McDonald's cup sizes being the same tiktok, you can literally see that they dont fill up to the same line every time. They go down a tiny bit through each cup.

I- I just realised that the American cup sizes in McDonald’s are a lot bigger than in the uk.. 😳
Yeah that's why we unhealthy here
Like my 10th grade English text book said: "Everything is bigger in America"
It’s the same for Canada to!!
The people “debunking” the drink sizes are using American McDonald drink sizes not the same as the guy in the video! The TikTok user that made the video was using Canadian drink sizes
@@Darlvua ngl but too small is just eh
@@Darlvua Trust me there’s a lot of unhealthy people in the uk but the reason they’re unhealthy is because of fried food such as fish and chips, McDonalds etc.
but the same thing happened with starbucks on tiktok a little while back. “ask for a small drink and a large cup filled with ice, then pour your drink into the cup!”
Starbucks is basically 10% flavourings, 90% ice and almost 0% coffee
And people were loving it, not mad
But actually tho...I worked at Starbucks. A large with ice is the same amount of liquid as a medium without ice. Half the drink is literally just ice.
Volume
Hi i’m a barista here, those people are basically putting extra ice in their drink, but if you ask for a grande sized beverage with extra ice in a venti cup, we will gladly do that for you and you don’t have to waste plastic by pouring your drink into another container!
McDonalds is like, "Well if you put stomach acid on our food, it like, probably will decompose."
