Did this repair on the 26th floor of a high rise in Atlanta last week. The client was so happy when I was done. She was told by another plumber that he would not do it because he was afraid it would leak. My question is: Why are you a plumber if you’re afraid of leaks? You can’t just say yep that tub drain is ugly but sorry Ms. You’ll just have to live with it. Also just as a pro tip putty that drain and pipe dope the threads. Especially on upper floors. Just a little insurance against leaking. Good video.
Well you don’t know if that plumber was a one man shop. If he was why even go into a high rise but if it was company I agree with you absolutely ridiculous. 😂
@@PlumbSharp I am a one man sometimes two man show. I love high rises. Warm and dry in the winter. Cool in the summer. People that live in the ones I service are awesome. I’m 57 and in this trade 38 years now. It’s about time I fell into something easy. High rises are easy for me.
I had to deal with a similar tub leak, but with no access panel. And like this, there was no gasket, which was allowing water from the shower to leak onto the living room ceiling. It took me a couple of tries to find the problem and fix it once and for all. That was 6-7 years ago, and there has been no repeat. Unfortunately the shower in the other bathroom also leaked, but that was a more difficult fix, as it was, I eventually discovered, caused by the shower trap protruding below the floor/ ceiling joists by maybe ¼", causing the drywall ceiling panel to push against the drain seal. I ended up replacing the trap to make it ½" higher, and again, the fix has proved to be permanent. 🙂
you used plumber's putty. another plumber said that plumber's putty should not be used for tubs because the hot water will make the putty crack and eventually stop working. the plumber used silicone instead. thoughts?
Always offer two options. Minimal repair or full replacement. They always pick the first option. Then half way through it tell them you found some unrepairable damage and now you got them for the cost of both repairs. That's how you do it.
Hi , I have a couple of small hairline cracks in my acrylic tub. I’m a little worried that it can cause a leak… Should I start doing something about it or wait until it spreads more? Thank you

you do good honest work.
I appreciate how honest you are with your customers about options.
I usually replace the whole works. I've seen the shoe leak where the seam is in the middle of shoe.

So lucky with that access panel

100% silicone would have been the better option here
American plumbing is like a horror movie! 😂😂
The hot wheels car? Is dope

That's a tough job without a helper to hold the gasket in place while tightening the overflow plate. Same with the shu.
i personally prefer the 2 screw overflow plates, but you do you.
😂 always gonna be a nightmare half the time or more, the lucky days where everything goes right are rare
The hot wheels 😂

How much does this type of repair usually cost
Honest question, did you clean the bottom of the tub off where the gasket will squeeze?
The best I could. Very limited space to do much with.
You should have just replaced the whole tub 😂
Quick question, what overflow trim did you use?
No seal on the over flow?
Best idea just repair it with putty and new rubber youll be solid good job not trying to upsale A+ plumbing
Just don't forget to check it for leaks next time lol
Fill the tub up all the way then dump it
Never give options
I hate those drain plugs.
I like this channel, the monsta is good too. Meanwhile in cali somewhere replumb is posting another vid of an exposed prv again…. Lame 😒
Made a lot of money doing those.
