for the last time, i did not put the ads here or on any of the mixes myself. they contain copyrighted music, meaning youtube puts ads on them automatically to give the revenue to the label owners.
I've been listening to their music for almost a decade and all I can say is that Boards Of Canada reached something that goes beyond art and music, they're a state of conciousness for me and the reason why I say this is.. you can have all of their gear, their sound engineering techniques and you can even compose melodies that match theirs but there's something beyond the music that no one else can match.. if there's really a greater wisdom and understanding about existence then Marcus and Mike had a grasp of it. I've listened to dozens of artists that were inspired by their music (and even tribute albums), artists that most people consider similar to BOC but no one else can capture the mystique of their music. To me it feels like there's some kind of spirit(s) behind their music that inspires all kinds of emotions, memories and thoughts.. spirits from nature/existence that whisper into your conciousness through the melodies and rhythms that Marcus & Mike create and somehow they're the only ones who can have access to them (the only one that is on par with them only sometimes is Aphex Twin imo, he's the other one who has access to this). I think this is the closest I've been to describe how unique their music is no matter what. There won't be enough words to describe how life changing was their music to me. There's incredibly good artists out there and you can have all of them but BOC is truly one of a kind for me and their impact in modern music is probably the greatest of the past 20 years... they alone created the idea of nostalgia for past times in music that everyone is using now from Underground scenes to Pop music. They alone cemented both sonically and visually this idea since the mid 90's to mid 2000's and then everyone else came after. While everyone was looking to the future at that time Marcus & Mike were looking to the opposite side getting inspiration from what it was, what would have been and what could not be.
This is so well put. I am brand new to Boards of Canada, I just found them about a month ago and it's changing my life one day at a time. Thank you for this beautiful comment
I find the album 1979 by Deru to be another sound with a visceral viscosity. And throw in the albums Venice as well as Endless Summer by Fennesz. Finally, another singular album that holds a special place in my heart - Ovalcommers by Oval. Like a rocketship of ecstasy 🚀. Do yourself a favor and don't even compare it to BoC. Just enjoy
Cómo es posible que a tanta gente, de distintos idiomas, de distintos paises, de distintas culturas, nos produzca esa misma sensación? Es que acaso activa alguna parte de nuestra anturaleza intrínseca? Es increible
Boards of Canada's music, especially pieces like these, is so humbling. At the same time as making you think about the world, space, universe and how insignificant you are within it. It can also make you feel so important, so lucky to have the chance to live for your period of time. Knowing I am with all of you here, listening to all these beauteous sounds and enjoying them, makes me a happy person! Thank you BoC
For me it was never cosmic. More a disturbed palimpsest nostalgia where memory really is an old wound that can be relieving to experience but dangerous to delve into. The horror of postmodern electronic reflections on the idea of reflecting.... That kind of thing
Thank you, thank you, thank you. I'm a therapist and I often play this mix for patients, many of whom have remarked on the calming quality of the music and sounds...you've helped a lot of people by putting this together!
This is by far the best BoC ambient mix I've ever heard. If I ever have the chance to meet the Sandison brothers, I would like to shake their hands and thank them for everything they've done. I'm sure the guy who created this mix, would want to do the same.
I listened to this on my phone in bed, really put me in the dreamy mood. I love it on fullmoon nights; when the moon is so pure white, and it's at the right angle, I can see it from my bedroom window and the shapes it casts through my curtains in my room. It stirs night-time imagination as I melt into my thoughts, and thoughts entangle into dreams.
Hi, i'm you, in a paralel universe in the other side of the world, living your comment, living your thoughts, living your life, living your trascendental existence, living the fluorescent paint in your hands.. in your guitar.. in your soul..
sweet mother of god, this is absolutely perfect. i have a hard time falling asleep to BoC normally because i find myself becoming nostalgic whether because the tune reminds me of a childhood memory or to when i first discovered their music and would consume it 24/7. It truly is my soundtrack of my life. Now I can enjoy BoC while I sleep! Kudos.
kidfortoday "i find myself becoming nostalgic whether because the tune reminds me of a childhood memory or to when i first discovered their music and would consume it 24/7." Oh hi, myself. Funny running into you here!
kidfortoday Just out of curiosity, what BoC tunes made you nostalgic? Is it their albums like Geodaddi and tomorrow's harvest, or just single tunes that you had? Trying to get deeper into this group
kidfortoday same, I usually don't get it from boc before sleep. But this mix made me nostalgic as fuck last night when i first heard it. He deliberately made the tracks' pitch lower to make it sound even calmer. So it's better for sleep
Boards of Canada...Their music is just a mystery in itself. A sense of nostalgia - even if those feelings are for something that never happened to begin with. On top of it, you can't help but relax, or become..entirely sullen. As a few comments have said, it can make youfeel one way or the other. It's always a mystery in every piece, there's always more to their music every time you listen. For me, this is my friend. BOC Music is always my friend. The friend that doesn't go away. It's always there...
I'm mostly quite sceptic about people editing/remixing and even mixing Boards of Canada, but man... This is pure beauty... The way you put these tracks altogether is uttermost stunning, however.. I find the transition between You Could Feel The Sky and Kaini Industries a little bit odd. Their atmosphere doesn't really sound the same to me. But that's just a personal opinion. You made a true piece of art, buddy. Congratulations and thank you so much for making this.
Good comment, agree but with the Transitions it's all about context. If 'You Could Feel The Sky' was followed by Kaini Industries directly on the album Geogaddi, it would sound very out of place. IN the context of this mix, it works fine for me.
Imagine if our comments will still be visible in 100 years. imagine boards of canada in 100 years. i would want to be rememberd as living in the pre automic war era to this playlist
this has become my go to playlist lately and has paired extremely well with late night drives on the warm summer nights, windows down, music up. boards of canada makes me feel like im a child again, every song stroking my nostalgic neural pathways like a true artist who's mastered their craft.
kidfortoday i find it really awesome how a lil' mix i decided to make one day has become someones go-to playlist, and yeah I totally agree with boc making you feel like a child again, even though i'm only halfway through my teen years it reminds me of when I was 5, living in our old house
A year later and I still jam this AT LEAST once a week. I even downloaded both parts from the link and merged them into one continuous hour and 28 minute song and even shaved off a bit to fit it on a blank CD so now I can even listen to it in my truck on long drives. What you did here is a miracle, Naked Flames. Great job on this again!
I’ve listened to this playlist since you made it. My music taste is very diverse. From country, drill rap, pop, rock, pretty much anything. But boards of Canada is different, and it goes beyond art, it’s pure nostalgia. I don’t know how they made these busted tape machines and old keyboards carry so much emotion
This is my favorite collection of any work of art, ever. This video was entirely responsible for the success of me studying back when I was a freshmen in high school along with being able to take me to such a calming and esoteric space with every listen from 2015-2018. Thank you so much for uploading this. You showed me Boards of Canada.
I pray this video remains on UA-cam for many years to come. It is far too often that amazing compilations/remixes are snatched away. This particular video I have been watching since 2016, it's done so perfectly and has worked well for me for quite some time.
Olson has to be one of the most relaxing, optimistic, beautiful, serene ambient tracks ever, let alone how it sounds in this mix. It's vibe is so positively uplifting.
27:26 Dandelion is so mesmerizing in this; almost feels like reaching a higher state of being for a minute there. Everything on here, though, is spectacular!
So Sinister is what made me aware that BoC existed, but these sleep mixes are what made me an absolute and utter fan. Here I am some seven years later after having listened to their entire discography-both official and unofficial-and your sleep mix still holds up and stands apart from their official releases. Thanks so much for putting these together, seriously.
Its like a compilation of my most precious childhood memories. Seriously one of my favourite things on youtube. Weird how a mix of slowed down music can mean so much
I used to listen to this mix on the Metro North train headed towards the city from a long day of hiking upstate NY. The summer sun, the blue sky, the smell of the ocean nearby, the Hudson River and the lush greenery above it. I'd be exhausted from the strenuous work and nestle into a seat by the window on the train and watch the world go by. This music made me feel so safe and calm during those trips. Such a relaxed cool down and brief escape from the city.
man oh man i always tear up in the ending of this mix. the songs there are just something else. and who can forget the intro of everything you do is a balloon. simply magic
Mate, this mix is awesome !!! Hearing the "Smallest Weird Number" coming right from the end of "Kiteracer 2" so well blended and with this lower tone here is superb ! Brought tears to my eyes ! :,) ... And hey, the hole mix is absolute joy ! Really, really great job !!! Hugs and a sincere thanks from Brazil ! :D
works wonderfully as background music as i study. it's like hearing their music for the very first time again. it's a warm and comfortable feeling. great work!
Your low-pitch version of Olson is magic. I listen to it when I'm alone, reminding me some good moments, bad moments, girls I used to love, stories that didn't end well.. But I think this is life and this song keeps telling you to go forward and to not look back even if you are suffering there is always light even in the darkest moments. Thank you man for what you did, we need songs like this one to keep going, especially after the tragic events that happened in my country and in my city few days ago.. (Sorry for my bad English, I'm French).
+Paul Lynch not only am i thankful for your comment but your english is fantastic by the way, my heart goes out to all of France, it's a real shame these sort of things happen
Kiteracer 2 is their saddest, most haunting ambient piece in my opinion. It has always reminded me of death and stillness, and the impossibly unavoidable attachment that we have to the world inside and out of our minds. It sounds like a representation of our inability to disconnect from the world we find ourselves in, and the naivety within each attempt we make to understand what life and death really is. It's like the sound of being in awe over our child like state as the human race. Amazement, confusion, love, courage and fear, all swirling in our liquid electric dream states.
It’s a very melancholic playlist. It makes me think about the world and universe and how I’m simply an insignificant cog in the machine, but I don’t mind that.
This is really great. I love your choice for the first track--it really sets the tone for the rest of the mix. I am just getting into this group and this was a fun way to get an idea of their sound. Thanks again!
first off, many thanks for your comment, I specifically chose 1986 summer fire for the first track because I thought from the moment it starts it hits you with those melancholy chords, it doesn't take a long time to get going also it's cool you're just getting into boc (amazing group to get into plus the community rules) and that you have started with this, but I definitely recommend you listen to such tracks as Chinook or an eagle in your mind, as the drumming and sometimes abrasiveness of the tracks really get to you
Excellent, excellent compilation Naked Flames. All of these, often overlooked gems of BOC, when played together are absolutely therapeutic. Thank you so much for this.
Thank you so much for making this playlist. I have been going back to it for going on 3 years now. I sometimes wonder if you can see the usernames of those who are listening and see my name and think "this dudes' back again." But this mix goes with everything. I work to it, do homework to it, read comics to it, do dishes to it. It's always there, thoughtful and explorative. And it often just makes me wish I was doing something exciting on the forefront of science. But for now and probably tomorrow, I'm just an average joe who loves to daydream---and this music makes the perfect soundtrack.
@@meaning-mcmeaning I wrote in the post I have been going back to it for three years, then see my post from 5 years ago just underneath it. Here I am again. It's still as perfect as ever.
I found this mix like 3 years ago, I know for sure Ill enjoy to listen it every dawn. Thank you soooo much Naked Flames for posting it and INFINITE THANKS to B.o.C. for exist!
This is truly an amazing playlist, I discovered BoC just a few weeks ago. I'm stunned by how captivating and trance like their music is. This is special and I know I'm not the only one who feels this way. :)
My good friend, I just wanna say thank you for making this. I discovered this mix when I was a freshman in High school just about 4 years ago and since then, I not only listen to this mix often every now and then but this mix has truly introduced me to BOC since. Thank you, truly, this mix has been able to create some good memories and good times. I thank you for that.
took me a while to remember why your username was so familiar after discovering your music. thanks for making this mix; it helped me get through some really rough times during 2016.
A great idea, and well done for a nice flow of ambient BOC sounds, there is something about there music that we all love and find hard to explain why,I just hope before I leave this earth I get the rare opportunity to see them play live..............
naked flames Well. I have heard allot, but long time since i listened to boards of canada now. I have heard most of their stuff. I listened to the record, music has the right to children, for like.. 15 years ago. One of the groups who got me in to electonic. Aphex twin, BOC, the orb, and many many others. ;) I have followed up on their records, but i have been busy with other stuff. I have not heard all of their stuff, i think. Searched for all their biography.. I have missed a few releases. But i will follow up and i feel like listening to boards of canada for a while now.. ;) I love them! Thanks for this mix. I will use it to make a playlist in winamp or something. ;) (Boc "ambient" mix.) Good mix.
naked flames, thank you so much! i have never heard this kind of music before. it is so dimensional. . . i love the way you had each piece of music lead into and invite the next so that it was a surprise but not jarring. . .a drop off the edge into a little adventure. i like it without drums too, and the reverb definitely enhances, and thanks for listing the titles. the comments are so great to read too! what a convivial bunch of peeps. your beautiful mix is making a lot of people happy.
I've listened to this so many times now, it's like an album. I'm so incredibly grateful for BOC and you and the fact that this si still allowed to exist. I LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE it.
what a great find, very well done! this is just what I needed tonight, and to read all of the comments....i'm with you guys...there's nothing like these sounds.
You mixed these so well, I was introduced to new BoC songs off this playlist, and it's hard to tell when some tracks end and some begin. Straight magic.
just thought i'd drop a message here to say thanks and well done for doing these sleep mixes. as a DJ, i appreciate the craftsmanship and attention to detail in these mixes. nice one! keep em coming!
The first thing that I ever heard by BOC was Wildlife Analysis. I'm not kidding when I say that within 10 seconds that I knew that I had discovered greatness.
You're a saint for putting this together. Can't tell you how many times I've listened to this while reading or even writing. This has all their best stuff
Thank you so much for putting forth the effort to compile these songs into one video. Been listening to BOC for about a decade now and I’m STILL finding “new” songs thanks to videos like yours. Muchas gracias💗🥰💗

+Paul Lynch not only am i thankful for your comment but your english is fantastic
by the way, my heart goes out to all of France, it's a real shame these sort of things happen
+naked flames thanks men, wish you the best
Kiteracer 2 is their saddest, most haunting ambient piece in my opinion. It has always reminded me of death and stillness, and the impossibly unavoidable attachment that we have to the world inside and out of our minds. It sounds like a representation of our inability to disconnect from the world we find ourselves in, and the naivety within each attempt we make to understand what life and death really is. It's like the sound of being in awe over our child like state as the human race. Amazement, confusion, love, courage and fear, all swirling in our liquid electric dream states.
The way I see it, the point of life is to expand our consciousness and live forever. 👽✌
This music makes me sad, but I like it.
Meccagodsillah same for me. Makes me think of better times that I can never experience ever again, gut wrenching for me personally.
It’s a very melancholic playlist. It makes me think about the world and universe and how I’m simply an insignificant cog in the machine, but I don’t mind that.
Definitely one of the best BOC mixes on UA-cam. Tongs ya bass!
One of the best BOC mixes of all time! well done
what a great mix. some of these songs sound much better slowed down. thanks for uploading this!
This is really great. I love your choice for the first track--it really sets the tone for the rest of the mix. I am just getting into this group and this was a fun way to get an idea of their sound. Thanks again!
first off, many thanks for your comment, I specifically chose 1986 summer fire for the first track because I thought from the moment it starts it hits you with those melancholy chords, it doesn't take a long time to get going
also it's cool you're just getting into boc (amazing group to get into plus the community rules) and that you have started with this, but I definitely recommend you listen to such tracks as Chinook or an eagle in your mind, as the drumming and sometimes abrasiveness of the tracks really get to you
Absolutely the best medley of harmonious flowing off the beat melodies that put your mind elsewhere, love Boards of Canada.
Excellent, excellent compilation Naked Flames. All of these, often overlooked gems of BOC, when played together are absolutely therapeutic. Thank you so much for this.
No doubt the best BoC mix I've ever heard. Awesome job, man!
Simply perfect.
Greetings from Brazil
HANDS DOWN the best BOC mix ever. I really hope they go back to making more ambient style songs. Thank you for making this mix
This is exactly how I feel about it. It’s like I’ve wrote this myself!!!
@@meaning-mcmeaning I wrote in the post I have been going back to it for three years, then see my post from 5 years ago just underneath it.
Here I am again. It's still as perfect as ever.
Just a quick thank you for putting this together. I consider BoC essential during the lockdown here in the UK.
boards of Canada are one of the most underrated bands out there ... keep up the good work excellent music for deeper thinking...
I found this mix like 3 years ago, I know for sure Ill enjoy to listen it every dawn. Thank you soooo much Naked Flames for posting it and INFINITE THANKS to B.o.C. for exist!
Thank you for making this, it really has helped me through hard times along with BoC in general.
if the universe could make music this is what it would sound like
The universe did make this music
This is truly an amazing playlist, I discovered BoC just a few weeks ago. I'm stunned by how captivating and trance like their music is. This is special and I know I'm not the only one who feels this way. :)
This is awesome, my favorite tracks by BoC are the ones without drums.
This is an amazing mix - thank you for putting this together. Favourited and will probably listen to it weekly for the next year.
took me a while to remember why your username was so familiar after discovering your music. thanks for making this mix; it helped me get through some really rough times during 2016.
Amazing job man....this is one of my favorite playlists of all the web! :)
Man, this mix is amazing.
This is an excellent mix . Has a lot of my favourites on it . Great stuff the perfect blend of unreleased and released material.
A great idea, and well done for a nice flow of ambient BOC sounds, there is something about there music that we all love and find hard to explain why,I just hope before I leave this earth I get the rare opportunity to see them play live..............
This mix is a minor work of art, thank you. It is very beautiful.

Thanks. I chilled out, my cat fell asleep. ;)
+shp0ngle i find that when you get into boc it's all you listen to for say, 3 months (that's what happened to me anyway)
naked flames
Well. I have heard allot, but long time since i listened to boards of canada now. I have heard most of their stuff.
I listened to the record, music has the right to children, for like.. 15 years ago.
One of the groups who got me in to electonic. Aphex twin, BOC, the orb, and many many others. ;)
I have followed up on their records, but i have been busy with other stuff. I have not heard all of their stuff, i think.
Searched for all their biography..
I have missed a few releases.
But i will follow up and i feel like listening to boards of canada for a while now.. ;)
I love them!
I'm not kidding when I say that within 10 seconds that I knew that I had discovered greatness.
just wanted to say thanks for this mix. its been my go to for all sorts of moods day or night. Cheers'n'Namaste'
You've taken my favourite parts of Boards of Canada and threaded them together into this awesome compilation. Thanks heaps for this :)
So glad to see mix tapes never die. Just transformed into digital media. Excellent compilation!
these mixes are really fantastic. many thanks for putting them together
you even reversed Dandelion :')
BOC are a huge inspiration and I'm semi obsessed by this incredible mix.
Best mix for relaxing and studying
+Gabi M. yeah, great for sleep
Dandelion is in reverse and it sounds incredible!! What a track with awesome Leslie Nielsen sample.
Bit, random but have you listening to BOC 1969 reversed; a robotic voice repeatly says David Koresh. I love it by the way!
You're a saint for putting this together. Can't tell you how many times I've listened to this while reading or even writing. This has all their best stuff
I live that part starts at 27:23
Sounds like System Shock 2 , Xerxes has a malfunction. EPIC!
:P
Really miss ta' old times...
Thank you so much for putting forth the effort to compile these songs into one video. Been listening to BOC for about a decade now and I’m STILL finding “new” songs thanks to videos like yours. Muchas gracias💗🥰💗
You realy have a great taste in BOC. Beautiful compilation !!!
This is a GREAT mix. Numerous tracks in here I've never heard. Hiscroes is a new fave, thank you!
very well done. back for the second night in a row and can't wait to lay down
It's literally like getting high off of space. Amazing.
And some high quality space at that!
I loved this the first time I found it, now I'm using it to study. Thanks for the good stuff and thank BoC for the lovely music!
