this is almost all off SAW 2 though. it's ambient music, meant to be simple but hypnotic and texturized enough it doesn't become tedious. then he also did stuff like Drukqs, Rushup Edge and Syro which is like the complete opposite of simple.

There's a long mix of Stone in Focus out there with a looped video of a monkey dozing in a hot spring. I used to play that (on proper studio headphones) behind my other windows at work and when I got up I'd leave it as the screen saver. It got me through some real long days.
if you're going to listen to this while you're trying to sleep i strongly recommend that prior to listening to it you click past all the yellow dots on the progress bar in order to trigger all the adverts... most of them only trigger innocuous pop ups but sometimes they trigger a more annoying advert that will wake you up.

I had insomnia at the time, and I wasn't eating very much... So my brain was in this very strange, sensitive state. Listening to this music, at 3 AM, so hungry I couldn't eat, so tired I couldn't sleep... existing in this half delusional state of consciousness... having borderline hallucinations while these sounds washed over me... It was an incredibly spiritual experience. I don't ever recommend compromising ones health in order to achieve such states, but there was something remarkable about how I heard the music that night... as if that was how it was intended to be heard. Is if, maybe, that is how Richard had made it himself....

Just after 124:10 as it transitions from a humming silence to a relaxing piano melody. Idk what it is but i just love that transition so much. Reminds me of being in a mall as a kid and hearing that type of ambience with the tall ceilings and spacious architecture. Triggers my nostalgia to that dreamy memory every time.
i remember i had such a bad sleep routine, id goto bed at 4-5 am but when id goto bed id put this on and skip to just fall asleep, listen to all of the mix from there and id drift to sleep like a baby, im having sleep issues again so im back to this, i love this mix so much and tysm for having this up for people to listen to, respect goes all out to you

I'm quite new to aphex twin and I don't know much about him but God is this music the most beautiful. I hope I always have this emotional reaction to these songs in the future the way I do now and the serotonin produced doesn't deplete like a short high drug. Only when I listen to in later on in my life I can attach memories to it like how calm my life used to be and being in the god old days while I don't believe I am in them now I know that there is a certain bitter flavour in my life now that I will be craiving when I am older. To me now this music is just a talented painting but a plain canvas still and I will to see the art in its every dimension.

After that trip my mental health started to decline and I became very depressed for the whole winter. When spring rolled around i was happy and have been ever since, im listening to this now in a warm bath hoping this winter will be different.

Some kind of own reality was created inside the dream, its own laws. Under these conditions, thoughts arose that in ordinary life would have seemed absurd or simply ridiculous. But in my "dream" it was the norm. I don't remember exactly what I was thinking, but definitely about something "not earthly", not about my life or problems To give a more specific comparison, it was like a world in which everyone is people recovering from anesthesia and telling things

curtains is the most perfectly eerie ambient track I've ever heard, waking up from a nap to this will spin you out for 30 mins.

An ending out of those two for me.
Rhubarb, just because it's a bit more sad. An Ending feels like a relief while Rhubarb is more likely a "turn inside" and a more intimate experience.
