I love hearing this obscure BoC stuff, really hoping we get a new official release from them. My most anticipated album probably, and it's not even been announced.
It's insane how great it sounds now. It's my favourite "album" because of how eclectic and primitive it is. I feel like switchng from 64kbps to 320kbps. Thank you so much , I cannot express how happy I am.
Old BOC stuff that has been remastered/cleaned up that I haven't heard before is fantastic whilst waiting patiently for a new album! Thanks for this! 😁❤
I've clicked through so many videos, through so many incredible, weird ambient landscapes... I feel like I'm going on a train trip, seeing a succession of crazy, never-before-seen scenes from history, important, weird musics through the window as I pass... there's so much to explore. So many places to alight and dwell in the ambiences that are on offer. This stop, in particular, is brilliant 🤠
I have just found this, loved BoC for years, but this is new to my ears so thank you. It has that pang you only get with BoC - you wish you had these tunes in your possession, but you probably never will, so it's bitter sweet as you listen to them in captured moments of knowing exultation. The hidden knowledge that on their game, nobody in the world is or has ever been better at this type of thing than BoC, but that the whole world will never know... They are the only band I have ever been approached about when wearing an old T-shirt of theirs I had. Happened several times, one guy I have struck up a friendship with... only BoC I suppose.
A professor of mine, who was probably in his 60s, listens to BOC and has his CDs. Its really awesome that you can bridge the gap between generations with this music

B07 is so incongruous with the rest of BoC work because it's peppy and upbeat. I really love the track, but I'm so used to the generally melancholy natures of BoC.
Absolutely nothing prepares you for B08 - 0:58:58 That's a wonderful track. I also really like the track prior-- makes me think of supermarket shopping.
fun facts about the cd skips: - as far as it goes, A07 has a hell lot of them, someone must have burned the noise reduced rip to a badly scratched CDr as this is just unbearable - this is exactly why it looks so ugly on the spectogram (i was the first person to notice the cd skipping and it was a complete accident). the track also has repeated chunks of audio. also none of that is present on the "unreleased materials" re-encode, which serves as proof what i said is correct (or at least makes sense and is realistic) - some tracks have a small amount of random clicks, audible but not severe (A01, A06, A08, A10, etc), they also must've been put on the already NRed rip - now here's the actually interesting part: while i did fix the A09 CD skips (which i didn't even realize were a thing until the NR was restored properly, cant count all the NR algorithms i and sdoww tried doing reverse NR with before oliveoil came up with this one) i noticed the CD skips are not only fainter and quieter, but they cut off at around 15 kilohertz. and, unlike the previous tracks, these CD skips are the only ones that actually DO appear on the "unreleased materials" encode of A09. that basically means that A09 is either sourced from CD or the entire tape was recorded from a single CDr (but first off, i think the only kind of people to do that is people who were too poor to afford an aux cord, second, practically impossible for A09 to be the only track with tape compressed CD skips that way, so i feel like this second theory is far worse and less likely). just some things not really ever analyzed throughtly on this tape
WAY FUCKING BETTER HOLY SHIT the other (denoised) upload sounds like the lowest possbile quality washed out MP3... and i was convinced the original tape just sounded like that xd
how did you do it ? Did you manipulated the Noise reducted rip , or is it based on an roginal rip ? how can it sounds better if you worked on an already deteriorated version? It definetly sounds betters in the end, so great job.
Here's what i said in response to someone asking the same thing on the boc subreddit: "For the method itself I simply recreated the noise profile with some white noise with a slight boost in the very low ends. I "learned" said noise to IZotope RX 9's robust but quite primitive noise reduction module to filter out the noise and music separately in different tracks. I boosted the noise back to it's original dB level (about 10dB) based on the fragmented 192kbps leak that doesn't have any processing done to it. The music was kept at its original level."

This cleanup made it much more clear that A03 uses the same drum loop as June 9th and A08. In A03 it starts about 45 seconds in.
