    Quite educational. At 54 I'm now leaving alone in a vast agricultural land; but I know nothing about this kind of life because I grew up and spent 50 yrs of my life in the city. And now I really need to learn a lot of things about life in the province, a😂nd should start learning to cook too.. I thank you with all my heart.

    Very detailed information, what a wonderful plant for providing for so many. I’ve always loved the root, now I’m learning about the leaves. I grow another plant called Chaya that requires boiling the leaves for at least 10 minutes for the same reasons. I noticed cassava leaves were boiled and also pounded and squeezed in preparation, here you explain very well why. Thank you for this, well done 👍🏻

    In Sierra Leone, Cassava Leaves stewed in red palm oil, with various meats and smoked fish is our national dish. It is absolutely delicious! The leaves are removed from the stems and pounded in a giant wooden mortar and pestle. They are then steamed or boiled which I assume removes the poisonous cyanide.

    So glad I found this! I accidentally ordered this not knowing what it was and was going to use it to make curry tonight, so now I know how to process it!

    Thank you for all the info, I live in Durban South Africa and it grows all over my property, I never knew what it was until I watched your video. I use it to make pizza base by binding it with egg and flour. It tastes lovely and its free. Thank you.

      Cassava chips are very popular here too, there are many variations of cassava kueh, even more were made with tapioca starch.

    cook everything thoroughly. Africa used this for centuries. For those who prefer salads are the one to be told off. cook and straining food is not recommended. toxin dies when you cook enough.

    My wife from the Philippines loves casava cake she got sick after eating it so I stopped her as I knew about the cyanide. She should have eaten meat as well maybe. The curry looked delicious.

      Indeed, cassava's toxicity is a serious matter, you did the right thing to stop her from eating more. There are many reports of cassava poisoning incidents from time to time, and when the toxicity is too high, unfortunately, meat would probably have little effect.

    that was great information, probably eating cassava leaves may not be worth the hustle as preparation drops protein & vitamin content.

      Kalau tidak terjadi apa-apa tentu baik sekali, namun alangkah baiknya kalau google sebentar tentang keracunan singkong supaya mengerti lebih jauh tentang daun singkong, baik manfaat maupun bahayanya.

      @edorisa7412 Рік тому

      Mungkin gara2 makan daunnya yang tua makanya bisa keracunan,, kalau daun yg muda aman2 aja, ditempatku di kalimantan biasanya kalau dioseng langsung daunnya mentah tanpa direbus. Btw emang ada sih singkong beracun 🤭
