I'm sure you know we all have been thinking and praying for you but I wanted to express my heartfelt thoughts for you and Ethan. Wayne meant so much to many of us. It was his passion and commitment in sharing your experiences with the hydroponic growing that inspired so many of us to follow along in your footsteps. Wayne was an inspiration for me and in fact because of your weekly videos walking us through your set up in the new greenhouse converting to slab media to harvest. It's because of Wayne and your sharing that I've acquired a new poly tunnel 25ft, the excavation and leveling take place in a couple weeks and then it will be built. The poly tunnel will be dedicated solely to hydroponic growing - slabs for my tomatoes, cukes and peppers as well as a couple projects growing root vegetables, onions, garlic and potatoes in hybrid Dutch buckets that will combine drip with wicking troughs. My plan for the poly tunnel, nutrient solution with 55 gal barrel/pump, slab set up is all because of Wayne's encouragement and knowledge. I'm thankful for his wisdom and your enthusiasm. I'm so happy you're continuing the farm business. Wayne's spirit will be with you along the way. Take the time you need...we look forward to your next video. Much love and prayers.

Wow, wow, wow - You guys are wonderful and so open and sharing. I'm a retired CFO, CPA and previously worked with by gardener dad and worked through college at a wholesale plant nursery. Now, I'm a small time hydroponics hobbyist at home. You guys have tied it all together for me with growing hydroponics and sharing so much data. It's great to hear an operations guy talk about the turntime, productivity (yield), revenues and experiment with costs. I bet you guys have some great spreadsheets. This is the only video that I've watched but I will watch more and I have subscribed. Can't wait to see if you installed the LED lights. Look forward to your analysis and payback talk about the lights. Keep it going.

Soooo wonderful is your greenhouse. Thank you for sharing in your hydroponics. Maybe you could make a very detailed video or pdf with tons of pictures of everything from water flow, additives, ph checking, troughs, heating and btu output, etc. etc. . The more details, the better as this would be for those starting from scratch. This you could sell so it would be worth your while. This way you will have less interruptions in your work. We would definitely buy it if you offered it. Keep growing those wonderful greens, thank you.

I just found your channel today....what an inspiration that you can do so well in a northern climate... everything looks so organized and the plants are beautiful... I live in Northern NY and it gets pretty cold here, but you are about 200 miles further north than me... are the walls of your greenhouse double wall polycarbonate or polyethelene???? I can't imagine how much it costs to heat a greenhouse that large... thanks for the video/SUBSCRIBED... and just a side note... One end of my driveway exits onto US HWY 11..

I just love your videos they are very helpful. I am planning to put up a similar system but here in Serbia i am worried a lot about the cost/price values since here the price of vegetables is very cheap and by installing all of this consumes Electricity, Nutrients, Maintenance when needed i am worried about that. From what i saw in US the head of lettuce can go over $1 while here the head of lettuce is around $0.25-0.30 and other plants same or bigger difference.
I would definitely like to see a video about the cost of this system and i think that would be extremely helpful.
Anyway keep up the good work, can't wait for your next videos. Much love from Serbia.

Hello, thanks for sharing your valued information. I watched some of your videos and you really did give good information for beginners start their journey. god bless you.
I know there are a lots of questions but your videos little bit cut from some more information that required for your viewers. I like you to make a main video for all information required to grow in winter because summer time its always grow.
We have to start from beginning so we know its greenhouse.
    1. what is the degree of heat that stays level in the green house for winter months like 21, 25 etc.
    2. we know u are using oasis product to germinate seeds. Where do you get seeds how much you paying. what do you recommend.
    3. for germination which products do you use and how much of it how often.
    3. how much water how many times u are pumping for germinating platform.
after transferring them to growing platform
    4. where did you get those growing pipes? how much each? and why those ones why not regular pipes? price? stability?
    5. what fertilizers do you use and how much fertilizer?
    6. which product how much for market?
    7. most profitable crops that you can cut more then 5 times?
    8. what do you recommend to newbies? do they need what you got in your green house, green house hoop? can they have same quality production by spending less in materials.
    9. why not rack system with some led lighting for hydrophonic lettuce and some others crops. its way more space efficient more production?
    10. what do you recommend for colder climates like -30 -40
I know you answered most questions in your videos but we like to see it in 1 video from start to end.
    11. can you make this video for other crops like tomato, peppers, etc.
    thanks

How to keep the water in the tube, and how do you get the water back to the pump? Could you maybe show how you are hooked up? I just have not had very good results and your lettuce looks GREAT! I keep trying, but any help you suggest would be welcomed.

I could be wrong but I believe if you buy the 8 foot long or even 4 foot long tube leds that are daylight about 6000k spec it’ll be good for the vegetative growth in there. It’s basically the same type of bulb for a fluorescent fixture but the bulb is filled with insane leds you can keep it six inches from the lettuce. If you already bought some crazy leds I’m sure those are even better but just an idea if you want to consider it.

we have problem in Indonesia, we are hydroponics farmer, we use pvc pipe for planting and using Deep Flow Technique (DFT) for hydroponics, and the problem is, if we finish harvesting, we have to pull out one by one part of the pipe and the connection to clean the dirt, moss, and algae in it, maybe you can make a video tutorial on how to clean the pvc pipe without having to be opened, yesterday I saw it on youtube, he said to clean the pipe pvc without having to open, is using H2O2 with 30%, but we don't know how to measure and how to mix it, hopefully SPRING HILL FARMS can make the video, it will very very help us

Thanks for an informative video. Both of you do a wonderful job and are very generous. I am from Western Pennsylvania U.S. zone 6B and have a few questions. What temperature do you keep the lettuce house during the winter? Have you ever tried a static system i.e the Kratky method? How do you prevent spindly, leggy plants? In the winter, how long is the lettuce turn around? Thanks so much for your time and patience.

    • @Growwiththelaplantes
      @Growwiththelaplantes  5 років тому +3

Thank you for the kind words! We keep our greenhouse at 58 degrees F through the winter months. We have not tried the Kratky method, but we may experiment with it some day.
Our plant never go spindly or leggy because we only keep them on the top heat table until they are starting to germinate, and then we lower them to the table under the lights. This keeps them compact.
Our lettuce turn around in the winter is around 6 - 7 weeks.
I hope this answered your questions. Thanks for watching! 😀

You guys have an awesome setup. I'm trying to emulate it on a very small scale in my basement. Would you mind saying what those seedling trays are, or who makes them? Thank you very much for sharing your knowledge. I've always killed everything I ever tried to grow. Hydroponics is so much simpler than dealing with dirt, and sun, and all of the variables that come with growing outdoors. I'll admit, it's only been a couple of weeks, but I haven't killed anything yet. They actually look really good. Me, and everyone I know is amazed. ;)

    Hi!
What do you use for heating the greenhouse?
What temperatures differences do you get in the winter? For example for this video, I see he is in a polo shirt, what was the aprox temperature inside and outside
Your greenhouse is build with double air blown polly? Or is just one single layer?
    Thank you!

Nice video. Can I know what growing media do you use?
Beside that, in different stage of growing lettuce, it need different nutrient value of the EC and PH?
From your seed germination video, it’s use water for germination, after few day it’s started the nutrient water ? Do you have any guideline on growing lettuce with the nutrient level?

What do you purchase for your hydroponic solution. I grow mainly leafy greens, but I am interested on what type of solution you use. I purchase the Master blend formula.

    Hi !
Very interesting video thank you !
    I get some additional questions.
You said you don't have any light infrastructure in your greenhouse, which lettuce varieties could grow even with small light intensity in winter please ?
Do you have only one water contain for all your infrastructure ? How many litters have this watter contains for how many square meters irrigate ?
What is the medium used ?
And I don't understand the controlled system for nutrients (Ec, pH) ? Is there a programmer ?
    Thanks in advance,
    Best regards,
    Hugo

Thé rack on the first tabletop that you took of the cover and the germination begun: will you put back the covers or not. Or if you transferring them on the other height?

Great video as usual! I have an 18'wx32' Gothic pro with double plastic and inflation kit, solid insulated end walls (Upstate NY and quite cold:). Wondering what you use for a heating method.? I have 2 small propane heaters that I am going to try this winter just to see what I can get for a temp, but thinking a barrel stove like MHPgardner use might work.

We do heat with propane, we have a furnace at each end of the greenhouse. I like the idea of wood burning, but we work enough hours in the day, we don't feel like tromping out in the snow through the night to fill it lol. We have generators to run the furnaces if the power goes out..
      Thanks so much for watching!😀

what do you use to keep out the bugs and pest? I want to start a small garden on my patio but I'm afraid of the mice and bugs attacking whatever I might be able to grow.

PD. Ya he visto varios de tus videos.

@@Growwiththelaplantes im so sorry to hear that, found your FB page and had a feeling thats what happened. But congrats on selling the farm. Just my timing that I was looking into this very kind of farming and then doing all this research stumbled on your channel then saw your FB page and was like omg half hour away. My timing is terrbile but best i might be able to scrounge up is 400K so not realistic for me to buy at all. But hope within 2 years to have a green house operation up and running. I would love the oppratunity to talk to you about feasability of this kind of buisness and living could i contact you on FB ? If not thats fine my inlaws are farmers down south and considering a course at canadore to take so will eventully figure it all out. Thanks again and sorry for your loss.
