Only good and deep if coupled with theistic hope, otherwise, it's just shallow nihilism and basic modernism. Nothing good or impressive about that. I still can't figure out where TOOL stands as many of their songs appear to be extremely nihilistic, atheistic, and modernist, but then other songs and many lyrical sections disagree with that. I'm leaning more towards 'spiritual nihilism', which makes them very confused and contractionary as it doesn't make sense or have any grounding in deeper reality. Maybe some hardcore TOOL fans can tell me if they are fundamentally Christian/Western in nature and content or just intelligent nihilists because I can't tell (note: I have not heard all their songs, so maybe that's part of it). Thanks.

Such an amazing song, 10,000 days is one of my favorite albums of all time. I was thinking the same thing about this song being even more relevant today

This is song that won't disappoint you guy. This is one of my go to song to kick off a tool work day. I'm actually surprised it took this long for you guys to play this one.
Adam has a lot of mid and low end in his tone that contributes to the thickness of the bass sound in combination with his guitar. Adam’s chugs and dead notes often get confused for bass. They truly have a unique formula.
Front to back, AEnima is their best album. And when you listen to it, you have to remind yourself that this was released in 96! There was nothing that could even come close to this in 96. They have been so far ahead of everyone else since day 1. I saw them live in 92 and had never heard of them. Tool was the second band of like 10 bands at lololapalooza. I was there to see Rage, Chilli Peppers, Ministry, Pearl Jam, Soundgarden and Ice Cube. But when Tool started playing, it was obvious they were special.I bought Opiate and Untertow, and they have been my favorite band ever since, hands down. I have been playing at pro level for over 20 years and I must say Danny has got a whole damn catalog of his best performances. Now that Neil has passed, Danny might be the preeminent drummer in modern times. The only thing I have never seen from him is straightline foot speed.
Man I look forward to Tool Tuesday every week now. I love it. I can’t wait to get home and live Vicariously through you guys, listening to these songs I’ve lived with for years, for the first dang time! Just hypes me up
Finally! This was the first song I recommended when I started watching your reactions. I knew you guys would love it. As sad as I would be to see you guys finish the entire catalog, I can't wait for you to finish them all so you can listen to an entire album in one sitting. That's how the albums are meant to be listened to. They transition so well from beginning to end. They are all amazing!
20:00 You mentioned Maynard's lyrics being almost prophetic. Not to call you wrong, cause it sure feels that way with a lot of his stuff. However it's mostly seeing what's going on around him and knowing what has happened before and being like, "come on guys this again?" but with astronomically better words.
Amazing react. In case you guys didn't know Adam did a lot of sculpting for the movies: Jurassic Park, Terminator, Ghostbusters and other movies. His talent is out of this world

I've been watching you guys for about a week now and love your tool Tuesday. Give The Pot a listen. It my favorite justin chancellor bass song. Really funky. Keep it up guys and welcome to the TOOL ARMY!
First time I heard this on the radio (pre-internet leak time) I was driving and had to pull over to listen. It was the first new tool song in 10ish years.
You guys are so genuine with your Tool love and excitement, absolutely love to see it. Vicarious is as relevant if not more so now as when it first came out.
Nice. Now we're getting into the MEAT of what TOOL is depth wise. These lyrics and this song is as relevant to today as the day they wrote it. So good.

You are my two absolutely favorites to watch when reacting to Tool. Your reactions are a constant reminder as to why they are my favorite band ever..if I ever needed one :)
I still remember the first time I heard this. Bought the CD the day it came out...left the mall in Santa Rosa...opened it while walking through the parking lot on the way to my car. As soon as i got in the car I popped it in the CD player...FUCKING WOW. I almost had to pull over on highway 101 on my way home. THEN...before I could even start to try to catch my breath and mentally digest Vicarious...BOOM! That OTHERWORLDLY fucking RIFF that starts off JAMBI kicks in. Even though i had been a tool fan for over 10 years at that point and had all of their albums (except Salival...still don't have that as of yet) ... and had seen them live and knew the lyrics to 90% of their songs by heart and...just judging from their track record and the caliber of everything else they had ever put out i already fully EXPECTED 10,000 Days to be amazing before I ever put it in the CD player in my car. HOWEVER...despite all of this...I WAS NOT READY for what I was about to experience. Vicarious standing alone...BY ITSELF is OVERWHELMING and it is one of the top 3 most EPIC songs... if not THE MOST EPIC song i have ever heard in my life. I will never forget where I was and what I was doing the first time i heard Vicarious. There are only about 5 songs EVER that i can say that about. The one besides Vicarious that comes to mind is Master of Puppets...but experiencing VICARIOUS for the first time in all it's GLORY...and then a second and half later having JAMBI split my face open right from the first riff? I don't know if there is a better one two punch to start off an album in music history. Funny cause I already referenced this but now that I think about it...it's the best one two punch to start off an album I can remember since the mid 80's... the first time i heard the last notes BATTERY fade out and MASTER of PUPPETS kick in. To me the opening combo on the 10,000 Days album with Vicarious followed by Jambi is on the same level as the opening combo of Battery Master of Puppets on the MOP album...and no other opening 2 songs on any other album that I have ever heard even come CLOSE to those 2
I hope y’all plan to do the studio version of descending. The professional recording makes a huge difference, and it has become my favorite tool song lyrically and sonically. It’s worth a second listen anyways but tool bootlegs just do not do their live performance or studio recordings any justice whatsoever

best part about Tool - there isn't a "best" album. Its whatever speaks to you most subjectively in the moment. It changes for me every week. Lateralus, 10k days, Fear Innoculum...day and the mood, mayn
The opening song to 10,000 Days. Hell of a song and very relevant even to this day. Maynard is actually well known in the music industry of having a unique voice and range . Hence the reason why you can find him doing back vocals on song by Rage against the Machine,Deftones, etc.
Lance Thompson I was referring to Maynard not singing the final crescendo in years. He lets the audience do it. I think he tried once recently and his voice cracked

I screamed a little inside. I’ve been waiting for this!!! Perhaps you saw my request last week :)
I remember hearing this song for the first time before the album release. I got to see tool at Coachella that year.
When I first discovered Tool around 8 years ago and I came across The Pot, I genuinely thought that the singer was somebody else. That is an incredible feat to pull off
Man, yall are GOOD at the word games at the beginning... Love watchin yall w that!!
And thank yall for letting us live "vicariously" through yalls videos!!! Love em all we've watched so far!
Just wanted to say I legitimately look forward to this day all week. Love watching you guys react to all my favorite songs! Such cool dudes. You’ve really made life better, no joke. Thanks for all you guys do!
Everything TOOL does is freakin' amazing, this song especially f***in' ROCKS!!! You guys are cool asf
Most critics have considered this the best song they ever did (and I can't deny that). Regardless, it always fun to watch you guys respond to any track.
yes..Tool Tuesday right after i get home from work!!! great song too with straight forward lyrics!!
OH HELL YEAH!! One of the first Tool songs I had on repeat!
I wish I had that first time experience with this song. I LOVE this song and its top 3 songs id say for TOOL. Also you two are my favourite right now lol I love your videos. You guys are funny asf. And I love how you explain or take your own perspective into place.
"...and 3 or 4 other songs" ...*cough* Rosetta *cough* stoned..
LOST KEYS/ROSETTA STONE!!!!!!!
I honestly think they should save it as the very last Tool song they react to.
Rosetta stoned has gone from confusing me to being one of my favourites by them. It's confusing, funny and incredible all at the same time 😂
Fuckin oath bro!
Tool just kicks ass period. I kinda wish the whole world would bow to their greatness, but then again, I kinda like the feeling of belonging to an exclusive club. ❤️
Trash Talkers check out POTIONS by PUSCIFER. It's a collaboration between Maynard and Trent Reznor from Nine Inch Nails.
Awesome track
Originally designated the Tapeworm Project.
Awesome reaction! This song always gets me going
I got chills and musical frisson to song, watching you guys listen and react to it. You guys are my favs reacting to tool and bands I’m into.
I love what this band has done. A mood every single time. We all know whether or not we have been impacted by them.
I've been waiting for y'all to react to this glorious masterpiece for quite some time!
6:58 a completely reasonable reaction to Vicarious. This is what really got me into TOOL, my mind was absolutely blown
Gotta love how Tool forces you to learn new words. Tool Army, don’t like: you had to look up “Allegorical Elegy”, too!
Y'all said how surprised you were t be so inspired by a "rock" band. I have to say, as a very long time rock and metal listener, its surprising - and satisfying, if i may- to see the two of you enjoying said music so much that you are both headbangiing. Yay!
best part about Tool - there isn't a "best" album. Its whatever speaks to you most subjectively in the moment. It changes for me every week. Lateralus, 10k days, Fear Innoculum...day and the mood, mayn
Too accurate
"Have we heard every song on Fear Inoculum?" A smile spreads across my face and I say to myself, they haven't heard 7empest yet
They have already done it!😂
@@KenDoLL666 I missed that one??? Well now I have to go find it!
Your favorite is going to keep changing. Even after you've gone through everything. Take this from someone who has been listening since they came out.
This was one of the only radio singles from this album besides Jambi many months later and you can see why. Incredible song.
The opening song to 10,000 Days. Hell of a song and very relevant even to this day. Maynard is actually well known in the music industry of having a unique voice and range . Hence the reason why you can find him doing back vocals on song by Rage against the Machine,Deftones, etc.
Best music reactions on UA-cam, thanks guys.
Ohhhh your in for a treat. Amazingly done! Parabol parabola is next right! Haha! Don’t let me down Smokey!
Nice, one of my favorites. One of Maynard's finest vocal and lyrical performances.
So good that he can’t repeat it live
@@HelloHello-uh9qz I would disagree with statement. I've seen it performed live 5 times and every one was excellent.
Lance Thompson I was referring to Maynard not singing the final crescendo in years. He lets the audience do it. I think he tried once recently and his voice cracked
@@HelloHello-uh9qz agreed but rarely is any live performance as perfect as the studio. I saw them in KC last year before the new album released. The first 3 songs did not sound good. But then they seemed to warm up and get the sound mix dialed in and the rest was amazing.
Randomly went to check my UA-cam and this starts soon! I'm definitely staying. Smoking a joint now. Perfect!
Yoooooooooo
