    Incredible info, my roller arrived today, the last 2 months had left knee pain, it was becoming embarrassing, I'm nearly 60 years old from afro Caribbean descent, using the roller today, upwards to the heart, cannot believe the knee pain i had has subsided, will be using it for 10 - 2 - 15 minutes daily, incredible equipment and incredible video, thanks.

    This thing is a necessity for skateboarders. It hurts when you use it but then the tension goes away after use. Really effective to use in between gym days on a split, or before and after a skate session.

    So glad I found this video! I am a wheelchair and my thigh muscles are super tight so besides physical therapy, I bought a stick similar to yours. I hope it helps. 🤞🏼🤞🏼

    Thanks Doctor Jo. I just ordered this muscle roller stick. Wisconsin was hit with a foot of snow ❄️ today. After 3 hours of plowing, I know I’m going to have sore muscles. :-)

    You recommended a vibrating massage ball which I purchased and I like a lot. What is the difference? The roller looks like it would feel great. Would having both be redundant?

    • @AskDoctorJo
      @AskDoctorJo  5 років тому +3

      The massage ball is great for specific trigger points, but I like the roller for general muscle soreness, and maybe more than one trigger point since it allows you to move the stick a little more freely and it's not quite as much specific pressure. I like both, and don't think they would be redundant :-) Good luck.

    How do you know if the muscle stick is working? Does the pain go down/away immediately after use?

    • @XxGlaciersOfIcexX
      @XxGlaciersOfIcexX 2 роки тому

      I excercise a lot.
      I've been dealing with a calf ache for over a week.
      I used a massage stick, rolled slowly, and firm, over the achy spot.
      It hurt like a sunuva gun!
      I used the stick daily, sometimes 2x a day.
      It took 3-4 days and the ache went away, in my case.
      I've used a massage stick other times and the aches went away in one day.
      It promotes blood flow, they're effective.
      Just don't think your going to rub the pain away in 30 seconds.
      Hope this provided you with some clarity.

    How long should you roll one muscle?

    • @AskDoctorJo
      @AskDoctorJo  5 років тому +8

      It really depends on what muscle and if it’s just for muscle soreness or an injury. In general, I would only start with 15-20 seconds and slowly progress from there if there is no increased pain to a few minutes.

    Dr. Jo, can I use the roller on my knees?

    • @AskDoctorJo
      @AskDoctorJo  3 роки тому +2

      It's best used on the muscles, not the joints themselves, but it can be used on the muscles around the knees.
