Stefan exactly. I upgraded from the 7 plus to the 8 plus and was blown away by the amount of “fine tuning” they had done to it. I still have my 8.. I want one of the new ones but I legit love this phone so I don’t wanna upgrade.

Apple is really good at making features that you don’t really notice until they’re gone. When I first got my 10.5 inch iPad I didn’t notice the ProMotion until I went over to my dad’s 9.7 inch pro and it felt like it was laggy. That’s something most tech reviewers don’t appreciate.
Mandalada that's how I felt trying out the iPhone X for a week. I really missed simple things like widgets or a customisable Control Center/Homescreen.
Jojo iOS has widgets in both 3D touch menus and to the left of the homescreen, iOS has a customisable control center and iOS has a customisable home screen so I'm not sure what your point is
Mandalada I'm talking about Widgets directly on the Homescreen like weather, messages or a search bar. You also can't put an icon into each corner for example but you have to have all apps as a list. To me it feels like the app overview in Android which I personally don't like using. On the Control Center you can change the bottom part but not change the order of the icons in the top one. It is still a very good phone for most people but I don't enjoy the experience as much as I do with other phones.

That's the thing about Apple. They provide simple, minimalist features that people don't really bother about but in reality they improve the whole user experience!
I myself ain't an apple hater... I'm a happy owner of a 6S... But everyone isn't invested in the apple ecosystem... They gave the fast charging option... But they can't even bundle a fast charger... How lame.. Apple should give the The faster charger with it... An iPhone 8 or 10 isn't cheap.... When you consider the price they should bundle it with the phone.
Shamim Azad I agree. My whole family has an iPhone, my dad has a MacBook, and we have Apple TV. But we aren't invested in the ecosystem. My brother and I built our own computers, and my mom prefers non-Apple laptops.
JoiceVaderd Same here... I use an android phone also. I prefer pc over Mac products... People would have loved Apple more if they bundled a fast charger. I use a one plus 3 it's less than half of the apple products but still bundles with of the fastest "fast charger" dash charger.

Shamim Azad ive had pretty much every iphone since the 4.... i bought my mom a 6, (which is modded with a LED logo and new shell) sister an 8, father an 8plus and myself a X. But, my X is jailbroken (so is my moms 6) and an apple tv. Thats pretty much it. My mom only uses the 6 because her HTC m10 broke (trash... shoulda gotten the v5 or something) my dads s7 edge broke (back glass i havent replaced it) so i decided to get him the 8+ sister just wanted a ne wphone from an SE and i went from. Abroken 7 (my 7 was actually a uogarde from my s7 because my s7 was shit but i loved it)
Honestly i loved my s7 but it was so slow 3 months in so i returned it got the 7
Not only that, i hate macbooks.
And now, with my 1000 phone which is, honestly pretty much what my s7 was its depressing. I mean the X is more stable but thats it. The stability and power and ios/appstore thats it.... other then... that, its $400 more then my s7, less waterproof ness, and thats it. Which is trash, it sucked. They should have bundles it

When I saw your S9 video, you made fun of the little subtle changes. However in iPhones you try to blatantly justify and even applaud the minor changes. When some other company brings a feature first and apple an year or 2 later, you go all "its all gimmicks because it doesn't become standard until Apple does it". But when Apple does one innovative thing you boast about it in all its glory. You say it's fine there's no fast charger on he 2017 iphones because most people buying iphones have multiple apple products anyway? By that Logic, they shouldn't include chargers at all. EC Net TV would you say the 7 and 8 are as durable as the 6? My 6 plus literally broke earlier today after years of use and surprisingly it wasn’t even to a drop it just randomly decided I’m always in headphone mode. I want a faster better phone but it needs to be as durable as this one which the x clearly isn’t.

Julian Maya the iPhone 7 Plus is a lot faster, and it’s way more smooth. You get the dual cam, and FINALLY you get your sound in freaking stereo, as it always should have been on all smartphones from the get go. Music always plays in stereo. The Touch ID is faster and improved. They still do tests with the newest and bad boys, and they still beat a few on diverse tests. It’s the most sold iPhone to date. I’m not buying a new iPhone before Apple stops making software updates.

I believe the IPhone 8 will be highly sought after in 1-2 years by people who are nostalgic about the traditional iPhone home button and overall design-in the same way the SE was more popular in the United States than Apple anticipated.
If Apple would give me an SE with an A12 chip, 3D Touch, 2nd generation Touch ID, 256GB storage, 7MP front facing camera, HEADPHONE JACK, and split the difference between the 5S and 6S screen size to 4.35” ( to make room for a bigger battery and wireless charging) I would be in so much love with it. Use the same look as the SE/5S but with an all glass back for WC, and if they have issues cramming all that in there then just don’t worry about keeping the same thickness . I miss the way my SE rode in my pocket and one handed text replies on the SE was so nice!!!! Call it the IPhone Hybrid.

“Raise to Wake” was introduced with the iPhone 7 and was adapted to the iPhone 6s with the introduction of iOS 10. Due to processor and internal sensor limitations, this feature is not available at all for the iPhone 6.

iPhone 6 - 8 has iconic design. It does not need to change every year, many products are made for iPhone, and it works well. I remember 5S was like this too, it works with thing like Motrr.
Jimmy Gunawan the design still looks decent, but compared to today's smartphones it's not up to date any more. Just look at older cars. Their design looks great but not as good as modern ones in my opinion.

The argument isn’t that there is a lack of innovation in the processors department, the cameras, general features. The argument is about how the chassi never changes. It is a design that has grown stale over the years.
Maybe the design has gotten stale maybe it hasn’t but that never factored in for me in the first place. I just wanted a phone that would work really well and last me more than two to three years without completely going bad.

I just got the iPhone 8 Product Red after almost 4 years on the iPhone 6 and I love all the changes Apple has made. Fingerprint reader is super quick. Love the fast charging option.

Personally the iPhone 6s is my favourite, though I would like a 8, the 6s has a lot of features and improvements that the predecessors didn’t have. I like having a headphone jack still, I like having 3D Touch, the Taptic Engine is amazing I hate the vibration motors on the 5s and 6 which my family have, the Taptic Engine is so nice! I also like the design and colour I have, I’ve had this phone for 2 or more years, I got it as soon as it came out, and it was my first phone I bought, originally I used a iPhone 4s or iPod 5, and a iPad Air 2, I’m still using my 6s and it’s in great quality, I recently replaced the battery and that helped with the battery life and the slow downs.
Water and Dust resistance was a biggy for me. Had been waiting years for this. It made the 7 a must.

Furthermore, just looking at the camera between models, the iPhone 7 significantly improved on low light photography when compared to the iPhone 6s. The iPhone 8, once again improved on low light photography, but also improved noticeably in areas such as HDR image processing and dynamic range in general.

With many Samsung phones I feel like they are all about a flashy design and great specs on paper but in the long term they just don’t hold up. With iPhone you get a refined design and improved features every year. Features that actually make a difference and features that once you have you don’t want to lose them. The s7 edge was a beautiful device, but it got incredibly warm and slowed down drastically over a year.
Devin DeHart I've had my s8 plus for about a year now, I have not noticed a slowdown whatsoever.i think people that say that don't clear their cache every now and again.
I’ve had an IPhone for over a year and it never needed to “clean cache” for speed, but with my old samsung I always needed to instal apps for boosting the phone, and also to close apps for bringing a bestest speed possible, because god deam that phone got hotter, and buggy especially when using it in hot weather. With my iPhone I can’t regonize slowdowns whatsoever
Apple literally rotated the camera on the iPhone X 90° to make it look different from the other phones even though the lens was the same
X π That was not the reason... When you come to think of it, the TrueDepth Camera System actually took up the space of the telephoto lens so they had to make room for it by rotating it by 90°. Also they managed to design the camera module so that the two lenses, flash and microphone all are housed in one component without needing to drill anymore holes into the glass.
Stoicho entertainments those apps that "help keep your phone clean and fast" only slowed my phone down, ever since i deleted those apps and never downloaded them again, my phones have been running as they should, i guess thats just me

TrueVaexel ™ no man,the reason why other cellphone manufacturers focus on design so much is because design is everything what they can improve, which results in huge number of unoptimised 3rd party applications. Samsung for instance changes screen size every year which isn’t good for 3rd party app developers. The major difference between s7 and s8 is the design and that’s pretty much it. Whereas s8 to s9 has more internal changes and that’s why the design stood pretty much the same
Nice video, but you forgot that the 6S brought Raise-to-Wake! It's a HUGE thing. My brother still has an iPhone 6 and it's SO anoying having to click a button EVERYTIME you want to check something on the screen.

I think the 7 just never should have been a thing. I think the 8 should have been in the place of the 7. That way the 6 and 6S are the first of the rounded design, and the 8 is that design perfected. Then, the iPhone 8 would have a new design, maybe like the 10. The 7 just always felt weird to me, because it felt like they got close to getting the design right, but not quite. This entire comment is just regarding the external design, I completely agree that the internals were changed a lot between the 6S-8.
elkech _ the truth is that in 2016 apple originally planned to give the 7 modern day iPhone 8 features...but they decided to hold off on some of the features bc of the iPhone x would be released the next year and it would give iPhone 8 more features
har12rocks what features specifically? The glass back would have been easy to do, and that’s mainly what I’m talking about. I think the 7 should have gotten wireless charging, and maybe they still release the 8, as a proper 7S (no exterior changes) and then release the 10 as they did.

You forgot about the support for the P3 color gamut on the iPhone 7. The 7 was a huge change, that’s why I bought it without second thought, still use it and do not regret it one bit.

As an s9+ user i disagree. It is very easy to use. Not as easy as big bezelled phones buy easier than other bezelles phones.
iPhone 7 also had a new generation Taptic Engine, which allowed Taptic feedback when opening control/notification centre, etc.
The live photos have saved me a few times when I was trying to get a shot and a car drove in. I was able to grab an image from earlier in the sequence and had my vacation photo saved from ruination. I’m switching from my 6S to a XS today.
the biggest advantage of having same dimensions is they support many accessories, cases and camera lens

iPhone 7 also brought in an improved Taptic Engine, and with it plenty of haptic feedbacks that the iPhone 6s did not get.

I love True Tone and night shift I use them both. they become unnoticeable once you turn it on, but soon as you turn it off then you notice it’s gone and feels worse. Lol
With the 6s u forget the new CPU and use of NVME storage wich made it ALOT faster

6s: headphone jack (only thing i can think of)
7: thinner, and has a larger battery, taptic engine, water restinces, stereo speakers, optical stabilization ( on both 4.7" and 5.5")
8: glass back, wireless charging, true tone display

1. Not disagreeing that the iPhone popularised the "live photos" feature, but there were devices prior to it that used this feature i.e. the HTC One (m7) announced two years prior with HTC Zoe
2. "Being on your lock screen" only actually happens on a touch ID device when you don't scan your finger i.e. using a non registered finger/the lock button to wake the device, if i just do my normal thing and "click the button in" to wake it still goes straight to home, not to notifications (except for the many times it doesn't recognise my bog standard finger)
3. So we got a iPhone 6ss and a iPhone 7+?
4. True tone isn't in the display, is aaaaaaaaall in the software
5. Portrait Lighting, another software feature

all this is to say, sure there were changes, but it doesn't mean they were all significant, plus the "not changing"/"not deserving a new number" only really comes from Apples original approach, because it shows a serious shift in the approach, where everything used to go design, hardware, design, hardware it's been in general a lot less so (apart from the X) so if past apple didn't think this type of upgrade deserved a full name change, why do they now?

U explained this so well! I used to be one of the people who hated they all looked the same but now I do understand. I had them all though minus the 8. I went back to android to a note 8. Now I’m back with the iPhone X and I love it...But I did always notice the better performance, etc....I guess it isn’t all about looks
With The face unlock or iris scanner from Samsung you can go in to stettings and turn off that it unlock directly if you turn on you're screen,if that is off you swipe and then it scans and unlocks.
