It moved forward when in supersonic so it can created a sharper shockwave in front of the intake, reduced wave drag while compressed the air into intake better. That's why the cone is also called shock cone. In the most ideal condition, the shockwave created by the cone will be exactly contact with, or slightly above the lip of the intake, therefore having minimum drag and maximum efficiency. As we know, the angle of the shockwave will changing as the mach number changed, so the cone will have to keep moving according to the plane's mach number, in order to keeping the shockwave always in the best position. If the shockwave gone too far and go into the intake, it will causing the inlet air to separated in a mess, and engine will surging, which called intake unstart.
Because the final version of Ace Combat 7 was essentially rushed. They remade the game multiple times during production due to changes in direction. You can see this by looking at whose in the directing roles from its first 2018 trailer staff credits, to staff credits in its eventual release trailer for 2019.
@@mrandrossguy9871 it definitely could've been more. We could've gotten another AC6 with new mechanics & more planes. But instead, we got AC5 in AC4 setting with less missions.
How the heck did you notice this and I didn't? Good job on the topic mocha! :>> Seems the MiG-21 in ACZ wanna say at supersonic speed 'lemmedoalittlebitforyou' :/
Something I could never understand about Ace Combat, is how a fighter plane could carry 200 missiles, but only carry 4 countermeasures? I know it's a little off topic, but is there an in game explanation or are we just expected to suspend disbelief?
@@readytopay6969 I guess it's like a RPG where a character can carry four longs swords, three suits of armor, eight hundred pieces of gold and an enchanted mace. Then why ony four countermeasures? In real life a fighter plane can carry dozens of, or even over a hundred chaff and flares.
@@spacechimp6442 Flares are released in sets. so it's like 10-14 flares every time you activate it. so say if you could only hold 48 flares, you essentially will use 4 sets of it.
I never even knew the MiG-21's nose cone moved
Me neither
Same until I did the gun maniac challenge.
same, wtf!!!???
It’s a small detail not anyone can easily see. It’s like the SR-71 ramjet engines.
@@generalgabrielsatorisame, and the Sr-71 also moved similar to that!?
Bruh the nose cone moves? Holy shit. And the freaking Starfighter cuts for the sonic boom killed me.

I understand there are a lot of Fishbed fans in AC7 (and War Thunder, etc) and I think it's really cool
Yeah man. Fishbed slaps in ace. I would never trust my life with it IRL. But in game, shit place me against 2 Falkens I'll scrap.
When AC7 don't have the Supersonic effect, then alternatively you should add the effect instead
Man...as soon i discovered AC7 doesnt have sonic boom effects, it was at that time i was disappointed with the game 😢
Bro had to replace the sonic boom with the cutscene 💀
I still don't get it though, why not adding it???

the older games felt more realistic you know?
they sounded beefy
they looked almost photorealistic

With old ACs' sound design
With AC7's graphics
And PW's game mechanics

There needs to be a mod or dlc that does your sonic boom effect in it! I would be laughing for hours on multiplayer

No sonic boom effect, -10000/10, unplayable garbage not even worth playing or buying. War thunder is clearly the better game.
