I love how you went from, "I'm tired, this is gunna give me a headache i know it", to "this man is a machine, he is a robot", to "i need a drum kit" in one song 😂❤ IA be like that don't they haha
Yessss... It's always such a satsfying feeling to see other people actually enjoying such brutal music.. I do realize that a lot of people can't stomach the vocals for that style of music and I myself am a death metal vocalist I have been for 30 years and anytime people here any of my bands or one of my bands live you know people just always dog the vocals and I'm like a gee thanks yeah that's me . But but really with that style of music there's no other style of vocals that would fit that format I mean you can't do smooth pretty vocals on such heavy fast brutal music it demands brutal toilet bowl lows and insane highs and of course lyric content that would turn your stomach and give you nightmares at night but it's all in the name of fun dude that was an awesome video review brother I'm glad you liked it..
This is actually him playing. He is using triggers to make the sound of each hit consistent, but he can in fact play this. He had a Q/A with his bandmates before their new album dropped and he answered alot of looming questions.
Also anything by "Archspire" including lyric videos, drum playthroughs, bass covers and guitar covers. I can guarantee you that you will not be disappointed by the actual talent it takes to play this type of music. It also takes a very trained ear in music to pay attention to everything that is happening, but please give it a try. Also anything and everything by "Meshuggah" lol
As a thrash metal junkie, I don't really get into this type of metal. However, and it is a big however, I cannot deny that I have tons of respect for the musicianship......especially the drummers, as I am a drummer.
Just because no one else seems to have mentioned it; That left-handed 32nd note staccato role, at about 4:55ish, is called a gravity blast. To just say ‘it’s difficult’ would be an understatement. But doing it with the precision that this is executed, even live, time after time is, well....very difficult. Edit: correct video time.
Honestly learning the finger control for regular blasts is much harder. Single handed rolls come from a larger muscle group so its a lot easier to learn, unconventional, but not overly hard. Finger control took me years of practice, but gravity rolls took maybe a month?
Kerosian1 yep, fair call. My experience was almost the polar opposite of yours, but I totally get your point - that forearm tires out real quick in the early days of learning blasts. Weirdly, the muscle in the heel of my hands (whatever it’s called) would also start to ache after a short while too...too much Little Finger action tucked in there, I think. Anyway, I think my larger point still stands; his Gravity blast is proper on-fucking-point!
@@MelbourneMatty I had that same thing, the pain in the hands for quite a while. It took a long time to realize being completely zen and relaxed is the way to go, getting over that fear of dropping the sticks. He does have that shit down, but man once you get the motion for it its pretty easy to push. Its like the sweet spot is much more forgiving than things like push-pull, you can kinda just muscle through it.
I’ve been playing drums for over 20 years, and you get fast like this by focusing your practicing on getting fast. There are specific techniques that aren’t necessarily used in “normal” drumming that you can use to optimize speed (finger usage, pressure blast, heel swivel, etc) and all of this builds specific muscles that aren’t as utilized in “normal” playing. This sort of drumming is a specialization that you have to basically devote you’re entire playing career to. A more well rounded or versatile (if that’s your goal) drummer probably isn’t going to be able to hang with this guy, but you probably can’t throw this guy into an R&B set.
Agreed. This type of basket requires ALL of your eggs. The speed is impressive... but it's lack of musicality gets old half way through the arrangement. I couldn't listen to a whole night of this.
Even between metal genres, the most extreme drummers wouldn't be able to do each others songs. Imagine if this band had to swap drummers with Meshuggah. Both drummers would just instantly go "yeah, right, that's not gonna happen".
Funny thing is he records IAs drums on an electric drumkit. He is in another band called black tongue that he is probably more serious with (touring, serious lyrics, heavy focus on song writing rather than shock value and showing off how fast you can go)
Dawg I take your point as far as it goes, but if you don't think their newest album tBoY doesn't have a heavy focus on song writing......... You're just crazy You can not like the music if you want. That's cool. But that album is def composed shockingly well
Sweet! I remember listening to Slayer live on UK radio (Monster of Rock gig) and just before they went on stage a radio commentator said "to play like this" (in relation to Slayer about to take the stage) you need to be "as precise as a fighter pilot and fit as an athlete" - i think that statement from around early 90s applies to this drummer - and every drummer who use high energy. Peace.
So many phenomenal drummer who are obscured by the brutality and lack of musical experience from the vocals. Bad vocals can ruin an otherwise extremely talented band. Especially in metal.
I'd recommend Animals as Leaders. They're a technical instrumental band and the drummer has many drum through videos like this one. If you do watch more Infant Annihilator you're going to want to avoid the lyrics. It's some seriously dark and disturbing stuff.
Once you nail a crazy song on the drums, you will be addicted to doing drum covers for sure. It would be cool to see your progress on the kit bro! Hope you get a kit man!
There are a lot of other people who have covered this song, there are also other drummer who are just as fast you should check out Flo Mounier(Cryptopsy), Eugene Ryabchenko(Fleshgod Apocalypse), Marthyn Jovanovic(ex-Belphegor), Nils Fjelstrom
When you get a crib, a drum kit like that one, and learn to play Infant Annihilator tracks, here's what'll happen... You're going to get a couple of metalheads who live in the neighborhood and hear you playing from the street and they won't believe their ears. They will feel compelled to knock on your door to see what's going on. You're going to answer and and everyone will be confused. They'll ask about Infant Annihilator and what they heard from the street. You'll say "oh yeah, that was me. I'm learning their shit". The metalheads faces will proceed to metal off. The metalheads will both be skilled guitarist and you all will start a band called "Expectations Annihilator". Ice T will find out the story and he'll invite you guys to open for Body Count. Cory Taylor, Tech N9ne, and Infant Annihilator will hear about it and you all will create a global music festival with a charity aimed at exposing more people to more music that they wouldn't normally listen to in order to increase the amount of inclusivity in the world through hip-hop and metal. The effortless switch from normal double kick to that impossible heal-toe technique is mind blowing! He's not even using those special pedals people use.
Everything he's doing is technique. Efficiency. Letting the rebound of the stick do the work and controlling it. His feet...think about it like dribbling a basket ball. In no way am I say it's easy but once you understand the technique and practice it enough....you get this cat

he never denied that he usin some effects for his drums but their songs are playable for sure. the reason that they are project and not a band its their crazy and fast instrumentals
