  • I have been waiting for this day for so long!!!! I am super excited to finally share the last chapter of my Invisalign journey as I get them removed. I hope you have enjoyed following along this journey and good luck to those of you who are just now starting or are not yet finished with you Invisalign treatment - you will love the results! The treatment took over a year and a half with two refinements and a few hiccups along the way, but I am so happy I did this. If you have any questions, I plan to make a Q&A (let me know if that would be helpful?), so just leave them down below and I will try to answer!

    That is a "Hawley" retainer, which, in my youth, was the only kind available. Believe it or not, that retainer was considered the state of the art back then, and people welcomed it as a "non invasive" approach. It was nothing. You could drink anything with the retainer in place. You still had to clean it, and your teeth and mouth, afterwards. My orthodontist predicts that I will have to wear "Essix" retainers when my treatment is complete. The Essix is very similar to the "Vivera", and both look like Invisalign. In any case, your process has been a success, and you are to be congratulated for taking action. And, you should be thankful that you live in a time when such advanced technology is available. Your smile will rival the magnificence of the Aurora Borealis. Smile on.

    Hi! Thank you for your videos and congratulations! I wonder did your ortho advise Myofunctional Therapy to help keep the expansion and prevent relapse? There is also Mewing and posture work. Mouth taping at night to make sure you don't breathe through your mouth. There is a LOT of info about this but I think if your functional habits are good you shouldn't need the nighttime expander, but perhaps the expander helps which is why they suggested you wear it to keep your tongue on the spot at night. Mouth taping will also help with that :)

It looked pretty good, but I thought. "Yeah well, it's just a rendering, we'll see" - Well, seeing how the process did way more than fix your one problem tooth and widened/straightened your smile, I can't wait to see my end result.

    Great esthetic outcome! The retainer you got isn't very comfortable in my opinion - I would've asked for an essex instead of a hawley retainer. (I realize they likely didn't give you a choice).

    I’m currently on tray 12 of 21 and my last tray was so painful. I had no issues in the beginning, but from tray 9 to current has been very painful. I change my trays every 2 weeks. I had to wear tray 10 for an additional week because of the pain. But I’m pushing thru this journey.

    • @SandraSkaar

      I remember I actually had one of my more painful trays around week 10 or 11 as well, I suppose some just move more than others maybe. Keep going, it will be worth it! And I hope you are in less pain now 💖

      @@SandraSkaar I had to wear tray 13 for 2 additional weeks because I had to go thru refinement, meaning I had to get my attachments (buttons as some call them) taken off and wear tray 13 while await for my new trays to come back in… the trays started to lift on my back teeth…so far i have been in tray 13 two weeks with attachments (buttons) and 10 days w/o attachments. I was told to wear them still w/o the attachments so my teeth will not shift.

      Hahaha! Thank you for the laugh (and the compliment) 😄🥰 On me they used some sort of digital device to scan my teeth so I didn't have to do the putty, perhaps they can for you as well? It was still a little faffy but very doable and over quickly. Either way, good luck, it's amazing what results you can get!

    I’m on tray 21 of 50. This is my second time watching this video for hope since on my first appointment my orthodontist said I may need more but it may be fine. I’m really hoping it would work out in the end. Did you use elastics or no? I do. Your results were great!

      @SandraSkaar  8 місяців тому +1

      Ahh hoping it all works out well for you - even if I had a few hiccups and delays along the way, it was so worth it in the end, just hang in there! And yes, I did have elastics from around tray 10 (if I remember correctly)

    Congrats on completing Invisalign! I wanted to ask: did you also get some lip fillers? Because in the before and after image, it seemed like your upper lip had been injected. Im only asking this because I’m on Invisalign myself at the moment and my top lip looks like your before photo, so if it is injections or just a result of the Invisalign itself, I would much appreciate knowing :)

    • @SandraSkaar
      @SandraSkaar  Рік тому +3

      Thank you! And I'm actually so happy you asked this haha because I thought I was seeing things, thinking my top lip looked a little fuller. No fillers at all (a few unrelated allergic reactions but that's many months ago, so I wouldn't think it's that 😅). It's very minimal if you compare to my first video (only really visible when I smile I think), but maybe it's because the lip can lay much flatter now? Not sure of the mechanics of it, but I'm not complaining 😁

    My teeth are super similar to your before picture and your end result is so exciting, just beautiful! Beside the midline question, is there any other questions you wish you had brought up in your consultation? Will you have to wear the removable night retainer forever?

    • @rachelneuman8053
      @rachelneuman8053 11 місяців тому

      Oh, also did you have any bonding done? Or just the shaving at the end?

    • @SandraSkaar
      @SandraSkaar  11 місяців тому +1

      Thank you so much! I was told I have to wear the night retainer for 1.5 years, but I have a new checkup in two weeks, so I will ask again then. The one that is glued on has to be a forever thing, I think.
      We discussed bonding, but then I didn't feel the need for it at the end, so it was just the shaving.
      I definitely would have asked more about what the process was like when things "didn't go to plan", so I was prepared for the long wait time when my teeth weren't tracking. And also whether there were extra costs for refinements and such (it wasn't in my case, but I only thought of it when I was mid treatment and it would have been way too late to back out at that point obviously). I wish I had read a bit more online, I found a lot of info on reddit, which would have helped me with what I should consider before a consultation. But just don't be too worried from the posts, I found a few horror stories there and the pain described might have scared me from getting Invisalign.
      Sorry I saw your comment so late, hopefully it's still useful :)

    Totally know how you feel about commenting on how bad your own teeth are. I have ‘slipped up’ I feel a few times with friends who have similar teeth to me, so yes insulting your own faults that other also have is in a sense also insulting them, but like you, I never meant it that way and hadn’t ever thought of theirs that way before, although I do now I’m getting mine done. 🤷🏽‍♂️ human nature I suppose, the mind works in mysterious ways.

I definitely felt like I saw my teeth in a whole new light after I had started my Invisalign treatment (I can't believe I used to think they were straight enough with just one tooth a pretty wonky haha!), I think you're right that it just comes with the territory as you are focusing more on something.
