You should do a video on wedding music! I’m a ceremony musician, often clients are super confused about how to arrange ceremony music and how it’s different from reception music.
Am I in the minority that I am very uncomfortable asking for help in paying for a wedding? I mean, it's a step forward for my and my fiance's relationship, not anyone else's so I'd feel really guilty about asking for money. I'd rather go without things that I want rather than ask. Am I crazy?
176Blue completely agree. I could never ask anyone for money towards my wedding. If someone wants to offer then great, but I’m not expecting a penny and definitely wouldn’t ask.
I completely get you. I think like that too, I feel it should be the couple that should pay for it. That's why after watching all these videos I think I'd rather elope; it will for sure be a lot less cheaper
I agree with you! I don't think anyone is obligated to you give money nor should you expect people to give you money. If someone wants to contribute to your wedding expenses, great! But I'd personally never ask someone to give me money.
I would only consider asking for money for something I didn't care if it was at my wedding, but someone really wanted it there. Such as an extra guest that I had never met or maybe a tradition that wasn't really important to me, but I could have. Like if I don't want it, it's not happening. But if I like it, but not enough to pay for it and you have to have it? You can have that if you pay for it. It really keeps parents and grandparents from pushing too much as they understand that every decision costs money.
No. My mom wanted to contribute a certain amount to the wedding. I accepted an amount that's 60% of what she originally offered, because I feel like my fiance and I can handle it. She's also covering my wedding shower and our rehearsal dinner, so she's contributed more than enough
Thank you!!!!!! Love this video. I promptly shared it with my fiance for him to watch and then we will watch it together. We have 15 months before our wedding. So much to do for our DYI wedding.
My sister spent over $30,000 on her wedding and did not have a wedding coordinator to organize the day of events. IT WAS A MESS! Most of the people at the wedding she didn't even know or love and in the end she didn't get the wedding she always dreamed of. My sister in law just had a small wedding at her fiancées house. Tent rental and chairs for the outdoor ceremony and indoor brunch reception. Thank God it was at 11:30 in the morning because the south is crazy hot and humid in July. Diane her coordinator was the mvp that day was as perfectly executed as a wedding day should be.
Could you do a video on how to put together a seating chart for the reception (ie, how to figure out who to put together at a table, should there be conversation cards, how to separate people who may not get along, etc).
It's literally crazy for me to see a wedding planner tell people that they don't have to spend all their money on a single day 😄 So glad I've discovered this channel! Your videos are awesome, thank you for all your work ❣
Hey, Jamie! I've heard you mention in other videos that you wore a used gown to your wedding. This is what I'm hoping to do. I'd love to hear a video from you on ways to find great used dresses (websites, vintage accounts, etc). Thank you for everything you do! It's made my wedding planning that much easier.
Thank you Jamie so much for this and all your videos! They are so helpful. We are having a small wedding an figuring out a budget is the hardest part... (Love the little Disney pin on your overalls haha)
I’ve always thought it was weird to ask family members to contribute to a wedding. My parents got married in 1996 for under $100. They’ve been married for 23 years. My fiancé and I just got engaged last weekend and are getting married in 2021. We don’t care about a fancy wedding. We just want to be married. Plain and simple ❤️
Can you possibly do a video on college weddings?? I would love to hear any advice you have or whether or not you’ve had experiences with people planning a wedding in college... what are the most important things? Would a couple do anything different in college vs. after graduation? How to plan in college because you have to find that balance somehow?? Just like everything haha 😂 help!
You should also do a video on ensuring you know who an RSVP is from, like black light markers. I’ve gotten a ton back with no return address and no name anywhere
Thank you so much for this video!! This was one of the questions I commented for the Q&A video. I have yet to set a budget because I need to get moved to Ireland and get a job over there first, but this was so much great information to have! I will be using this for reference when it comes time to set a budget. Thank you so much!!
This is all great information. My daughter is struggling with where to draw the hard lines with the guest list. I could do it in a heart beat. She's such a social butterfly. ALL her friends are important and dear to her very big heart! 🤦🏼♀️ Thanks again for your great help.
We're hoping to get married either fall 2019 or spring 2020, and I have no problem cutting my guest list. My partner wants to invite all our college friends (most of whom we haven't seen in a few years). It's very frustrating, because it's such a huge expense. I don't have anything against them, but some of them didn't even invite us to their wedding. I feel no obligation to invite people I'm no longer close with. *so frustrating*
Love your videos! I have to say I laughed when you said each guest could cost you $90. I'm in Sydney Australia and that is really cheap.....I'm looking at the cheapest being around $250.....and kids at $50.
I know you did a video on tipping but can you do something on tipping/reviews when you're not happy with the services? OR pushing small claims court for issues with vendors?
@@JamieWolfer you're so welcome! I'm honestly not planning on getting married soon but I love wedding planning 😅 your videos are so helpful, funny, honest, and not to mention relatable lol. Keep doing you and I kmow it'll take you far. 💖
Yeah well me and my fiancé were paying for everything ourselves, and bam to my surprise my mum and grandmother paid for wedding dress and veil, my grandmother paid for half of the bridesmaid dresses and I paid for the other half, and then my mum paid for the real touch flowers and centrepieces. And this wasn't even what I wanted anyone to do. My father in law is paying for bar TAB. So we saved but even still.
MY GIRL. SAVE ME. Please do a video or something on destination weddings vs your traditional weddings. We talked a bit on the phone and I chose my venue BUT IM OVER MY GUEST LIST. Over it. And the idea of spending all this money on a day? Killinnnn me! Advice please 😭
Hi Jaime! Like most couples, we have a budget for our wedding. We went to spend less than $8000. My question is about the tipping. Do we really need to tip the vendors for the service that we are paying large amounts of money to? Also, do we really need to feed them? Thanks! 😊
love your videos, they'll so helpful! My fiance and I have conflicting ideas for our most important elements in the wedding. It's so hard to really work out what we really want without fighting lol
Genuine question- any tips for when you really want to get married, but there is no wiggle room at all after paying rent, bills and groceries (no coffees or luxuries to cut), and parents are unable to help?? We've been together 5 years now, I'm 34, and we both want to get married, but I'm starting to think it may just not happen for me and we'll never be able to afford it
What about tipping? I thought you needed to do 10% for tipping anyway? Are there certain vendors that you do NOT have to tip? The budgeting alone for this makes me not want to do this at all. There's SO much to calculate and it's hard to find it all within your budget unless you have enough to get a wedding planner. I do not. Ughhh the research.
I'm almost 60 and I came from old school customs and traditions. In my era, the bride's parents paid for most of the wedding. The bride's mother was the wedding planner. Things are so different now.
P.S., I married in 1978. At the time my mother made me do something new and never done in my family -- register for my bridal shower gifts. My great-aunts thought I was so pretentious. I was a bit embarrassed, but look now -- registering is the norm today.
I think cause families are different. and things were a tad cheaper. My dads one of 15 and mom one of 7 IDK HOW that would work be too many chefs in the kitchen and we have Northerns and Southerns so it would be hard for everyone to do that. Too many different tastes. Plus i couldnt imagine my dad paying for 4 daughters weddings the mans heart would give out lol
I got married a few weeks ago and one of the first things I thought afterwards was "I think I would've rather had a new car" lol
That's what my fiancé keeps saying lol!

LOVE the point about adding in the 10% contingency. So many people never plan for contingencies because they just don't think to!
Thank you!!!!!! Love this video. I promptly shared it with my fiance for him to watch and then we will watch it together. We have 15 months before our wedding. So much to do for our DYI wedding.
1. Your hair is absolutely STUNNING. 2. You are saving my life on my wedding budget.

I was gonna do this then stupidly went to a dress shop and fell in love lol
I love the idea of prioritizing what's most important when distributing your budget! SO smart!
Thank you Jamie so much for this and all your videos! They are so helpful. We are having a small wedding an figuring out a budget is the hardest part... (Love the little Disney pin on your overalls haha)
Man I wish I would have found your channel two years ago when I was planning my wedding! Your videos are awesome.
Your'e just so damn like-able. Love your videos!
In some families the bride and groom are responsible for paying for the entire event.
This is a BEAUTIFUL eye look for your specific eye and even entire face shape! Beautiful beautiful

Thank you SOOOOOO much for your videos! You make me feel not crazy for not wanting a 100K dollar wedding!

Happy 20,000 Subscribers!
Thank you for all the information in such a fun delivery style. I'm excited to keep learning all the tips and tricks. (:
Hi Jamie, do you have a recommendation on the best wedding planning book(s)/binder(s) to use?
After seeing this video, I am realizing that I will be able to this! I’m feeling so relieved now.
You should also do a video on ensuring you know who an RSVP is from, like black light markers. I’ve gotten a ton back with no return address and no name anywhere
This MAKEUP !!!! Can you please do a tutorial
Love your videos!! I'm getting married June 2019 and your videos are super honest, specific and helpful! :)

I know, right? Like, this is a pricey endeavor. For the cream at the top only!
Would it be possible for you to add captions to this? Your videos are incredibly helpful!
I really like the big hair on you! So pretty!
Love your videos! I have to say I laughed when you said each guest could cost you $90. I'm in Sydney Australia and that is really cheap.....I'm looking at the cheapest being around $250.....and kids at $50.
Your first mistake is being in Sydney. And 250 is not the cheapest. No need to scare people lol
The price I’m looking at per person in Perth is $150 and it’s giving me so much anxiety 😂
And I'm upset at 25$ 😂😂😂
I know you did a video on tipping but can you do something on tipping/reviews when you're not happy with the services? OR pushing small claims court for issues with vendors?
Your channel is pure gold! 😻

As always great video very helpful info!
Lol on spending 30000 on a wedding. I know that is the average but year I'm thinking 2000 tops 😂😂
Imagine the honeymoon you could have for that

What do y’all think about the online bridal and bridesmaids dress shop?
Hi Jaime!

Agh I love you! I’m getting married next summer and I WISH I could afford you 😂
I would LOVE to have you as my planner/coordinator when I eventually get married but I live in Montreal 😭
Seriously love your hair!
What is the perfect elopement budget planner?
The current budget calculation is $6000 and it’s making me cringe. Nobody is helping, it’s just us. I have to get that number down...
That’s not horrible though! I’m looking around there too! Good luck!
Your videos keep me sane!! Thank you!

Felicity Richards backyard wedding and a 30 person guest list are a couple ideas
YASSS THE RO SHOUTOUT HAHA
Do guests pay for their own accommodations and flight tickets? In India, the couple and their families take care of all the guest's expenses 😭

Umm who doesn't include their wedding rings as part of the wedding budget?! Those things are expensive!
Can I adopt you? I need you for the 1 yr and 8 months. Thanks!
Hey so at my friends wedding on the invite she had asked people to pay for their meals. Do you think thats a good idea or no
👀👀👀😳
My family broke so I forked the funds
