I am getting married in December and we are doing brunch! We are having over 175 guests and we paid around $3000 for food altogether and that's bottomless mimosas, an omelet bar, and a pancake bar both manned by chefs. In addition to that, we have all kinds of other yummy items included donuts! In lieu of a dessert table, we are doing a candy table with a bunch of old-fashioned candies! Our wedding is at 12:15 in the afternoon and just by changing the time and the food we were able to save enough money to book the honeymoon we had been dreaming of, which was more important to us than having a traditional night wedding with a three-course meal!
Your comment was 7 months ago so I hope you see this, but how was your brunch wedding?! I am having a brunch in September this year and I am so freakin excited but also so nervous that my guests will find it strange and I also don't know what to do with myself and future hubby at 3pm (we aren't heading straight to a honeymoon) do we just go back to the hotel and chill?! haha Congrats on your big day!
So glad someone else is doing the same thing! I've been gathering leaves like a crazy lady on hikes or park trips. I love the different color variety I've been getting with the changing of the seasons.
Having a weekday wedding may be cost effective, but it kind of sucks for most of your guests. I was once a bridesmaid at a Friday wedding and I barely had time to get ready because I could not get time off.
Got engaged in May... getting married in July! 😅 I’ve been watching you all week long! I don’t think I could have survived such a quick engagement without you 🙌🏽😊
For my florals, I made all of my own for my upcoming wedding. Bought them at hobby lobby and Michael's, and spent less than $300 total for my bouquet, bridesmaids bouquets, boutonnieres for groomsmen and close Male family members, as well as corsages for the close female family members.
I'm so thankful you suggested requesting the RAW footage to cut costs because my fiance is a photographer and we can definitely edit the photos ourselves.
I’m getting married next year in August . The venue we looked at was wayyyy over our budget but we had fell in love with it .😭 we ended up loving it so much we got it for a Tuesday and for half the price of a saturday!!!! Best decision ever
FYI I’m a hotel sales manager for five hotels in a huge wedding market, we offer courtesy room blocks to all weddings. No one is financially responsible if rooms are not reserved. That is the case in many other markets as well.
I've looked into blocks and some don't hold the original booker financially responsible and others don't. Each hotel has different fine print and rules about that.
@@sdarling6518 This. I do events and I have never worked with a hotel where we didn't have to meet a minimum for the price. Saying, "O-M-G, this is not a thing, 'cause I've never heard of it!" doesn't make it sound like you're smarter than someone who works in the business, it just makes it sound like you don't get out much.
I’ve also never gotten charged for unbooked rooms in a block but maybe different venues do if differently. There’s a date though, by which the rooms must be reserved with a card or the block is released.
If you really want dried flowers and have a longer engagement, start saving the petals from any bouquets of flowers you might buy or receive. You can also ask close friends and family to do the same. Lastly, collect and dry wild flowers.
As someone who films and photographs events, I am not opposed to giving raw footage if: its only the video, and if we agree that I can still use your footage for my own promo for my website or needs. Because when I get married I want my videographer to give me the raw footage, my wedding day and video isn't going to be social media bait, its going to be just mines and I want it to reflect how I saw the day. but I would also never stand in the way of someone else making their money and making sure their work is represented
I would skip out on invitations altogether and rather do digital invites. They're cheaper and quicker and by having a website also, you can also get RSVP's easier. As well as meal recommendations, song requests...a ton of things that would normally take you time over postage.
My tip for wedding food: check to see if any of your favorite local restaurants do catering! My fiance and I found out our favorite restaurant caters and we could save literally thousands of dollars and have food we know we love!! Plus we get to support their business too 😊
I wanted our wedding date to be on 10.10.2020. Which is during wedding season AND on a Saturday. I can't tell you how much more money there was to pay and how stressful it was to find a venue I liked that wasn't booked. We finally changed our date to 06.23.2020 which is on a Tuesday. I managed to save myself from paying 10,000+ to now 2,500 for just the venue. Talk about a score! The main advice I got was that the date has no importance to the guests except for the bride and groom themselves. So if an important date falls on a Wednesday, go for it! It's YOUR day, not theirs. And whoever really wants to be a part of it will adjust their schedule to do so!
In Brazil we throw rice during our grand exit. It’s a tradition here and a way of telling the bride and groom they’ll be very prosperous in life (and it’s cheap lol) .
We used to do that in the U.S.. People worry about birds eating it. This is a myth. It seems dangerous and messy to me. I'm clumsy and would probably trip on it. To each their own though
I would not recommend asking a videographer/ photographer for raw footage / photos or I would check with them before booking. Do not ask after it’s been filmed !! It’s unlikely that either one of them would release raw videos or images because it doesn’t reflect their work.
Hi Jamie. A lot of the time, videographers will not give out raw footage...even before you negotiate the contract. The footage is technically the videographer’s intellectual property and could fall under copyright laws. I doubt any couples are looking to sell the footage or profit from the footage, what I am saying is that it’s a VERY tricky slope to navigate. Now, just to be clear, if the videographer is willing to give raw footage (like asking for anything from vendors as you mentioned) GET IT IN WRITING. Perhaps you could do a video with a wedding videographer and ask about this. Cheers!
I loved the comment about doing an off-peak day. Our daughter had initially picked a Friday, but we discovered the botanical garden she wanted as a venue was $1,800 cheaper simply by doing a Thursday evening instead.
It's not too difficult. You need a backdrop that's catered to your theme. Do you want chiffon or a fun print? Do you want fun streamers or balloons? There's your backdrop. Then you need some fun accessories. You can print them yourself on a colour printer and save some money or go to the dollar store. Get some boas, flower crowns, funny glasses, mustaches etc. Then you need a camera or tablet and either a tripod or somewhere to set up your camera of choice. You can use the timer on the camera or a bluetooth remote to take the pictures ultimately hands free. And there you go!
1. don't skip soda and java. I'm not doing this lol. I have a lot of people who will rather drink coffee than alcohol, so because I'm not buying alcohol for those people, I'm still saving money. 2. No passed apps. Definitely just doing a simple buffet style cocktail hour with simple apps. 3. DIY your photobooth. THere are lots of cool tutorials on how to turn an ipad into a photobooth so I'd like to try to do that! 4. I'm pretty proficiant in photoshop/illustrator, and there are SO MANY beautiful free for personal use fonts, so I plan to digitally make mine then get them printed at a photo place like snapfish or walgreens. I did my save the dates this way and it was 8 dollars. I ordered 65. My sister also has a cricut so I'm good there too! 5. buffet style. way ahead of you girl! 6. thrift like a boss. A good tip here is know what you're going for and know how much those things cost to rent. I found out pretty early on that in my area finding green water goblets at the thrift store was going to be the same price as renting. Didn't seem worth it to me. I'm using vintage silver pieces for candles as well as floral arrangements. 7. keep it local. This is so much easier for meeting with people too. all my vendors are within 30 miles of my venue. 8. skip water at the tables. I'm still on the fence about this one. 9. don't book on a saturday. My wedding is on a tuesday and that has saved money on almost all of my vendors. I have easily saved over 5000 dollars on this tip alone! 10&11. skip the extra florals. I decided very early on that I was going to limit my diying, but I knew that doing my own florals would save me a ton of money. and since I don't know how to make flower crowns I'm skipping it haha. 12. Have a friend officiant. I have seen this go SO WRONG and I couldn't really think of anyone in our families that is good at public speaking and would want to, so I went the pro route for this one. 13. Forget hotel blocks. There's only 1 hotel in the area and I really don't want it to be full. Most of my side of the family is 3 hours away and I would just feel better if I knew they were taken care of. I know a lot of hotels to courtesy room blocks as well. 14. no sparklers. Can't have them anyways! It's against our venue contract. 15. don't hire a car. We are staying at our venue (it's basically a private campground) so we're losing money by having to rent a trailer BUT we'll be there for 3 days and won't need to haul anyone around. 16. ask for raw footage. We decided against a wedding videographer all together. 17. do different reception. This doesn't wok out logistically for us, plus we got a good deal with our caterer. People are coming from a long ways so I want them to be fed. 18. don't mess with USPS. I haven't done the invitations so this is good to know!
I am saving $1500 by having my wedding on a Friday and another $1000 by having it in the winter!!! I would’ve never imagined being able to use this venue before these price cuts. So excited to finish planning everything!
Awesome tips, thank you! Just got engaged on the 5th!! We're doing a backyard brunch wedding in June 2019.So looking forward to waffles on our wedding day. 50 guests, no booze, games instead of dancing, cookies instead of cake and there will be coffee but hoping it's cheaper than booze lol. SO excited!
Just found your channel since I’m getting married in December and so many helpful tips 🙌🏼 I would like to add maybe DIY your bouquet too? I bought wood flowers and supplies to make my bouquet, all of my bridesmaids/Matron and Maid Of honor bouquet, and all of the centerpieces (10 tables). And it’s WAY cheaper than real flowers. But going back to only one of your other videos, only if you feel comfortable doing it. I’m pretty crafty and use to be an art major so it’s something I knew I could handle, have fun doing, and save a ton of money. And they last longer than real flowers 😍
The secondary market is full of dresses and rings in a wide range of styles and costs. Rentals are even an option. Many FB buy sell swap pages offer wedding items, shared centerpiece vases or ribbons. At a local thrift I frequent a summer bride bought 5 wedding dresses to go around town and have wedding photos done. For her wedding she will wear a simple detailed evening gown from a relative. She will donate the gowns back to the thrift after the photo shoot. I think costs and such are regional. We no longer expect and seldom see an open bar situation at weddings or other parties. Coffee/tea, I'd be okay with instant and many guests have to drive to/from event. No one wants to be liable for the results of alcohol consumption. Enjoy your videos.
Another thought... If you have a printer you can print out a design on clear paper from Michelle's or hobby lobby. Then rent a projector. We rented one from the local library. Popped the image on it and traced over it on our signs.
I’ve just rewatched this video after about 3 months since starting to plan my wedding and realised just how many things you helped me decide/plan out for the event! Code words: Monday wedding brunch ;) THANK YOU so much for producing these videos, they are by far my best information resource on UA-cam. Keep it up!
I decided to have neither 🤣 if my bridesmaids wants a bouquet they must purchase their own and most of the guys passed on wearing boutonnieres (which in my opinion are pointless) and I am making my own bouquet
I'm thinking of having disposable cameras at each table instead of a photo booth and make one (fun) person at each table responsible since it's cheaper than an instax, and then make a backdrop that people can use with their own phones to take photos and post them. I guess there's a risk that some of the more reserved people won't be in as many photos, but that's OK with me. I'm hoping to get a nice mix of candid and more 'staged' photos this way since I'm not gonna have a photographer at the reception 😊
I love your tips Jamie. I got engaged back in Feb and have just started wedding planning (June). I've never been super into wedding stuff but your videos have such valuable information and your energy is phenomenal, I'm actually excited about wedding planning because of you. Thank you for all your effort into these videos. I always let the ads play out as a thanks. xoxo
Jamie Wolfer it’s just called booth by mail! They figure the biggest cost of getting a photo booth is the attendant so why not cut that out and send everything that you need for a photo booth through the mail? They send glittery backdrops, props, and a tablet where people just hit a button and it starts taking the photos! It gets to you 2 days before the event and then you send it back the first business day after. I looked into it for my mum’s wedding and will for sure be getting it for mine!
Got engaged back in November and it's been killing me about wedding planning since my mom passed away two years ago and my other parent is Mia. I had no idea how many options I had !! Thank you so much
Great tips! There’s also a lot of affordable photo booths that can definitely be better than the $300 DIY, plus you get an attendant! Help, help! Is always great to have help specially with entertainment!
I love these ideas! But something to add, check your state laws before you have a friend or loved one officiate your wedding. Some states (like mine) have really strict laws and do not allow people that get their certificate the online way to officiate. However, some professionals have a cheaper "make it legal" option that will sign or observe the friend/loved one officiating.
Not sure if it's already been mentioned, but in my opinion you should still consider room blocks for hotels. I'm in Alberta, Canada, and the way they do it here (at least the ones I spoke to), they only block the rooms at the discounted rate until a certain date. If they aren't booked they are released and you are NOT responsible for the cost of rooms that are not booked. So essentially, at no cost to you, you can get discounted rooms for your guests.
Hi Jamie I loved your Tips! I just wanted to let you know that in the long run people can actually save a lot of money getting the right Photo Booth company just like the right DJ. My Video & Photo Booth comes with two Photobooth Attendants, Backdrops, unlimited video & photo's & reprints. So for Example if there is 5 people in the Photo Booth we make 6 reprints in 10 sec, the extra we put in a photo guest book that we also provide. We have over 200 hats/props that are all new and the guests can take them home at the end of the night. The couple also gets a flash drive at the end of the night with all the photo's & video that was taken. It actually would entertain & SAVE the couple more by getting the RIGHT Photo booth company. There are some not so good companies out there.
Ok…. We are currently planning my son and future daughter-in-law‘s wedding. I’m watching these videos and they have been very helpful for the most part…. I do not agree with a lot of these cost cutting suggestion. Remember this is a WEDDING not a birthday party… It is a once in a lifetime ceremony and celebration (hopefully 😉)… A girl dreams of being a bride… It is the only day in her life she is a princess for the day and all of the attention is on her…❤️ Think about the bride and her beautiful gown, veil nd possibly a train… How often in life do you get to wear a veil and train? Now this beautiful bride is going to climb in the backseat of an Uber driven by a complete stranger. The other suggestion was having a bridesmaid in Her Gown driving her Honda Civic with a bride in the backseat😳 C’mon…tacky. Having a wedding on a Monday night? That is a terrible idea… Everybody has to go to work in the morning…. It’s only immediate family that will use a vacation day to be off on Tuesday. The majority of your guests are going to go to work. They don’t want to waste a benefit day off to simply sleep-in Tuesday…Guests are not gonna be drinking and they are going to leave early…Again, this is a one time event… Weddings still cost a lot of money, if your guests are cutting out early that could ruin your day.. Please don’t do it… Simply choose your date down the road when you can afford a weekend Wedding, you and your guest will have a much better time..
With the toss bouqet, I'm not doing that. My fiance and I have two beautiful daughters who are 6 and will be 5 when we get married this September. So what I am doing instead is I'm using faux flowers throughout my ceremony and reception. So I am going to make two smaller bouquets and bring my daughters to the dance floor and dance with them to the song In My Daughters Eyes and then towards the end I will turn around untie the big bouqet and give each of them their own bouqet. Im crying just thinking about it.
We booked on a Sunday the day before Memorial Day!! We got a Sunday rate for basically a Saturday and saved a couple thousand dollars. Just a tip, Labor Day is also a good weekend.. because you could book a Sunday and also have Monday off!!
When my sister got married she had a wedding breakfast. They got married at the church 10:00 am and had the reception at the church's social hall, so it was around 10:45-11:00 when the reception started. It was totally yummy, totally cheap, and we still had half a Saturday to ourselves.
I recommend a Silhouette over a Cricut - They're around the same cost (maybe cheaper?), and they aren't limited by cartridges. You can make anything. You can still get pre-made designs, but there will be SOOOOO many more options!
I’m planning my wedding for this October and my budget is tight ! So I’m using fake flowers, & it’s more leaves then flowers, even in the bouquets! & I’m keeping the table decor simple. Sometimes simple is better☺️ my photographer is $400 (I posted ads & said I was on a budget) But! If I couldn’t find a photographer I have lots of girls in my fam who loves taking pics so that would be my 2nd option. I’m also getting a Polaroid printer for the guest book, I’m assigning my fam to take pics of everyone (using their phones) who enters, print everything and stick it in the photo book and pass it around to let everyone sign under their photo😌 the dj is a little costly the cheapest I found was $1250 to bring everything Bc the venue I picked had no speakers or mics & we would need the dj all day ! Bc we aren’t being charged extra for time for our venue it’s a flat fee so I need a dj who can stay long as well. Speaking of the venue I got lucky that my mom is paying it & it’s only $2800 but they do payment plans. But if your doing everything and you are on a tight budget I would suggest beautiful parks ! I called plenty who only charge $50 for the whole day! Catering I’m blessed to have someone pay for that, BUT if your paying it I would suggest finger foods or Mexican food or restaurant in your area that can do a buffet theme for cheap, Or! Order food in bulks! like Chinese food Bc it’s cheaper that way and have family serve for you 😌 the videographer is another tricky one. I found this instagramer who is willing to use a drone to capture the landscape of the wedding and I’m thinking of having my fam record off a camera and have someone edit it into a beautiful wedding video ?🤷🏽♀️ AND!!! This a Big Tip!! If your on a budget for a wedding dress GO TO : Anomalie !! they will custom make your dress based off your budget ! Check their work on instagram they explain everything ! Get your dream dress!, Based off your budget! & custom made to fit you !😁🤗 They even did priyankas veil !😱💕
Uber events was brought up to us by our event planner at the venue. It gives our guests transportation with a code through Uber and they can only go to the hotels and the venue with it. A lot better than valet parking (if venue has or charges for it).
Morgan Williams I was looking into this recently, I’d suggest going with Lyft over Uber though, Uber charges a fee just to use the service, people charge rides and you get the bill for whatever the amount is the next day, Lyft you put in a set amount of money in advance, people charge till it runs out you can add more if you need to and whatever isn’t used you get back
Nothing beats the usps tractor-trailer going off a bridge into VERY DEEP WATER with the 48hrs you send you invites. Driver was ok thank god. But yup 90% of the trailer was undeliverable 🤦♀️ happened to my sister sooo many people didnt get their invites
Im watching this after a year this was posted. Im really excited. Our wedding is pinned in June..if our government allows with this covid19 pandemic. You are so helpful Jamie..as we cant afford a coordinator...they cost so muchhhhh here. The only thing I can help you is to not to.skip ads. Godbless...more power ,😊😊
On the postal service one, I've been seeing brides encourage people to avoid dark colors behind the address. Some nightmare fuel on the weddings sub reddit o invitations being delayed by weeks. White or super light colors behind the address.
I have just discovered your videos and already binged 4 in a row! HOW DID I NOT THINK OF THESE! I'm from the UK but pretty much all of this is still really relevant, Uber Exec for Wedding transport GENIUS! Thank you thank you for your tips!
Just starting my wedding planning. PLEASE PLEASE do a video for, Rectangle vs Circle tables and table layouts. How much clearance one should have between tables. If I have a 5ft (60") round table how much space do I need to allow. Same Q for rectangle tables. Some vids say you can fit 10 ppl at a 5ft round table, others say 10. Recommendations? THANKS!
Harmony Hill good luck with your planning. As far as spacing, I've done catering where we would have 8-10 guests at a 5' table. It depends on how much elbow room you want them to have. Also, you should have about 18" between seat-backs at tables next to each other. In other words, if the tables were occupied, then there should still be 18" clearance between guest chairs for servers or other guests to maneuver around the floor.
I'm in New England and most hotels do a courtesy block where they will hold rooms but normally at their regular rate for you for a certain amount of time and you arent liable for any of the unbooked rooms after that point. So if you have a lot of people traveling long distances and you want to make sure there are available rooms for them then a courtesy block is really convenient and costs you nothing but time.
We did double duty for favors and glassware. We customized glassware with our names and wedding date and set the tables with them to be used as wine/beer/water glasses. We used a style of glassware that would be acceptable for all liquids. This way we were able to have glass (something my mother-in-law felt was important) for alcohol. 50% of people still didn't take the glasses (which I knew would happen and why I wasn't going to do favors in the first place) but now we have them for parties! Another huge money saving tip is to use the same room for ceremony and reception. We cut down effort by having people sit at their reception table during the ceremony so we didn't have to really flip the room or spend money to decorate two spaces. We used a community park building so had the added bonus of a play space on site for kids to be entertained while we took pictures between ceremony and reception. We also saved money by hiring someone who had just gotten into videography. This is a definite risk it turned out AMAZING. We spent $700 for two shooters, 9 hours of coverage, a 5 minute highlight and an hour full length video to include ceremony and speeches. This package is now $2500 for this company. I did the coordinating myself but I am a project manager so naturally have issues with relinquishing power to other people!
Hey Jamie, been lovin' your videos! Can you please make a video about wedding planning in the midst of this pandemic? Things change very frequently lately and we feel that it's harder to plan anything this way. At first, we said we'll just wait with it (we already been living like a married couple for years now), but we're kind of wondering what if this goes on for years now...Also, we really miss dancing with the people we love, so that makes us want to have the wedding even more. I think any advice on this would interest many of the brides & grooms watching your channel. Thanks in Advance!
I just found a beautiful reception hall here in MN where the hall rental is free and the per plate is $20-25 given whatever food choices you wish to have. It does have a 100 people minimum, but this $2500 total is crazy low compared to everywhere else we have been looking. Apparently walking in and acting like I don't really need a reception place paid off big time! I love these videos! So many ideas on where to cut the $$ so we have more for moving my groom to the us 💜💜
The venue I want to book is 1k less to book on a Friday or Sunday but it is also 2 hours from where we and all of our family and friends live. I will feel bad about them having to take off work. It is also another 1k less to have the wedding in "off-peak" months but we live in Florida and it is so hard to gauge the weather.
Hey Jamie! What are your thoughts on family-style catering as a cost saver and environment creator? I love the laid back and communal vibe it creates but haven't actually been to a wedding that's done it.
cece tapia Hi. So I know you made your comment a while ago, which means you’ve been engaged for a few months by now. I’m not engaged yet, but when I do get engaged, I’m just really curious- when is a good time to talk to your partner about the actual wedding and when to start planning it?? I don’t want to seem pushy and ask too soon, but I also don’t want to start planning too late. So when would be a good time to actually ask and start planning??
#13 Was the only thing I could not agree with. I work in a hotel and we do courtesy wedding blocks. Meaning we will block a min of 10 rooms at a discount rate and you have up until month before your wedding day to book. The rooms that dont pick up gets released at no cost to the bride or groom cause we now have a month to resell.
Hi Jamie! I have a random question. If you rent dishes from a rental company and use them at your venue, who washes them? Is it the caterer's responsibility?
As a videographer I don't know any other videographers who will give you the raw footage. It's way too dangerous risking someone who is not you editing your footage as that edit won't represent you or your work. A lot of videographer positions are found by word of mouth or seeing your friend's video etc so the edit is also our advertising. Anyway I'm not mad you said it, I just wanna warn people! If there was a way to make sure that the videographer would definitely be the one editing it later that would be great. Love you and all your videos
Ok question, I want to have the videographers make my video but I still want the raw footage, would that be ok? I just want to be able to see everything
Emma Casey: I asked this above of someone else in the industry, so please forgive the repetition: I completely understand that the editing is part of your technique and craft. I've had the idea of asking videographers whether they'd negotiate a lower price for 1) relatively few hours of shooting since we're thinking of doing a non-traditional and shorter reception that wouldn't have many of the aspects commonly included in highlight videos, 2) want full footage of the ceremony but don't care if it's edited at all provided the audio is good-quality (this would be for us personally, not shared on social media, etc.), and 3) are willing to wait for any/all footage and editing until schedules lighten up in the wedding off-season. Also, the timing of the early afternoon ceremony dictated by our church and shorter-than-usual reception would permit them to book a Saturday evening wedding that same date, so ours would not need to be their only revenue source from that day. If I requested a custom contract including all agreements and fee schedule for footage to be filmed (and that portion paid upfront) and then hold off on the editing for several months with the videographer maintaining possession of the footage in the interim and thus being guaranteed no other editing could be done, do I have a reasonable chance? slim chance? of any professionals/semi-pros accepting the idea? Comments/suggestions welcome from anyone knowledgeable! Thank you!
I have a lot of out of town guests. we really wanted to do a brunch but how can you ask all of these people to come to your wedding just for breakfast? I want to do the dances and everything too but that would be weird at a brunch thing as well. any ideas to be able to do this but still have some of the things that I want?
What are your thoughts on a cake and coffee/cocktail reception? Is it tacky? What can I do to make it up to the guests? Our guest list is 31 people only family. We want to save money so we can buy a home. California house prices are ridiculously expensive!
I have a question about the Polaroid film. I love that idea - to use Polaroid cameras instead of getting a photo booth. Does Polaroid film expire? I heard the photo turns weird/color washes out after a while?
Jamie, can I send you a message to ask about a semi-inclusive venue package? I feel like it's a great deal. I could save a little by doing it all myself, but the service I'd be receiving and the time saved are part of the value for me. I've loved all your videos so far, keep them coming! So helpful!!
Our cars are through family friends classic car pace. Our ceremony is at the same place as our reception, so we won't be traveling for any bridal photos cause we can do that at our venue, and our hotel is like 10 minutes down the road. And where I'm getting ready is 5 minutes around the corner at our own home, except he will be getting ready at the hotel.
I saved $500 on catering by having my wedding on a Friday instead of a Saturday! Would definitely recommend!
Do you think having a wedding on a Sunday is a good idea
I saved over 10k by having my wedding on a Friday instead of a Saturday in Orange County
But then everyone has to take a day off work to attend your wedding. Costs the guests more than what you save :/
My entire wedding budget is $3,000 :/
We are doing this too!!
My wedding is a Sunday Brunch! I'm so excited
Wow I love this idea 😍
Your comment was 7 months ago so I hope you see this, but how was your brunch wedding?! I am having a brunch in September this year and I am so freakin excited but also so nervous that my guests will find it strange and I also don't know what to do with myself and future hubby at 3pm (we aren't heading straight to a honeymoon) do we just go back to the hotel and chill?! haha Congrats on your big day!
We’re thinking of doing organic confetti. Hole punch leaves!
Great! Want to do that as well!♥️
Same!
that is a great idea! i think i might use that! more work but more Eco friendly!!
So glad someone else is doing the same thing! I've been gathering leaves like a crazy lady on hikes or park trips. I love the different color variety I've been getting with the changing of the seasons.
Freaking clever 🤯🤯
Girl same!
FYI I’m a hotel sales manager for five hotels in a huge wedding market, we offer courtesy room blocks to all weddings. No one is financially responsible if rooms are not reserved. That is the case in many other markets as well.
Amelia George I’ve also never heard of a room block being charged to the couple.
Oh, she's a pro-Dump faux noos fan. Quelle surprise.
Plus we get to support their business too 😊
Got engaged last weekend and just binging my way through all your videos. Giving me so many ideas already thank you! X
Cheers!
All my flowers are silk and I did them myself. I made my boutineers with spent shotgun shells wrapped in twine with burlap leaves and white roses.
I loved the comment about doing an off-peak day. Our daughter had initially picked a Friday, but we discovered the botanical garden she wanted as a venue was $1,800 cheaper simply by doing a Thursday evening instead.
Can you make a video describing how to do a diy photobooth?
It's not too difficult. You need a backdrop that's catered to your theme. Do you want chiffon or a fun print? Do you want fun streamers or balloons? There's your backdrop.
Then you need some fun accessories. You can print them yourself on a colour printer and save some money or go to the dollar store. Get some boas, flower crowns, funny glasses, mustaches etc. Then you need a camera or tablet and either a tripod or somewhere to set up your camera of choice. You can use the timer on the camera or a bluetooth remote to take the pictures ultimately hands free. And there you go!
theres many videos on this , google it
Girl, you're killing it! Love your videos!
1. don't skip soda and java.
We are getting married on a Sunday and every vendor we talked to it was literally 25-50% less than Saturday. It's just a simple way to save thousands.
10:39 cue the song “Don’t Mess With The Postman” from the movie Klaus
Another thought... If you have a printer you can print out a design on clear paper from Michelle's or hobby lobby. Then rent a projector. We rented one from the local library. Popped the image on it and traced over it on our signs.
I’ve just rewatched this video after about 3 months since starting to plan my wedding and realised just how many things you helped me decide/plan out for the event! Code words: Monday wedding brunch ;) THANK YOU so much for producing these videos, they are by far my best information resource on UA-cam. Keep it up!
I decided to do wooden flowers for the bridal bouquets, boutonnieres, and corsages because then we don't need water! I'm super excited!
Jamie Wolfer Whoa didn't know until now that what I needed today was praise from my wedding guru, thanks! 😍
My brother for that at his wedding...it's been over 3 years & they've never developed the pics.
I've been to a wedding that did that and about a year later they put the photos online, it was great fun and a way to reconnect with the couple.
My parents did that but they didn’t get any back
What do you need signs for?
I love your tips Jamie. I got engaged back in Feb and have just started wedding planning (June). I've never been super into wedding stuff but your videos have such valuable information and your energy is phenomenal, I'm actually excited about wedding planning because of you. Thank you for all your effort into these videos. I always let the ads play out as a thanks. xoxo
Speaking of saving on the photo booth, there’s also booth by mail! Super easy and like $289
Jamie Wolfer it’s just called booth by mail!
Oh and they give you a printer and 200 sheets of photo paper for printing. You can up it and add more sheets but 200 is pretty good!
Wow thanks boo!!!
Krissy Bomkamp you’re so so welcome!
Mel Hassan thank you this really helped me out since I live in the middle of nowhere and people charge alot for travel.
Remember this is a WEDDING not a birthday party…
It is a once in a lifetime ceremony and celebration (hopefully 😉)…
A girl dreams of being a bride… It is the only day in her life she is a princess for the day and all of the attention is on her…❤️
Think about the bride and her beautiful gown, veil nd possibly a train… How often in life do you get to wear a veil and train?
Now this beautiful bride is going to climb in the backseat of an Uber driven by a complete stranger.
The other suggestion was having a bridesmaid in Her Gown driving her Honda Civic with a bride in the backseat😳
C’mon…tacky.
Please don’t do it…
Simply choose your date down the road when you can afford a weekend Wedding, you and your guest will have a much better time..
We used my cousins convertible mustang as our car.
Is it a good idea to do assigned seat and also a food truck versus catering
YOUR HAIR LOOKS SO GOOD
Uber events was brought up to us by our event planner at the venue.
Binge watching your videos the first videos of this kind that I actually like and agree with!! Thank you so much
I love your videos!! I'm actually thinking about becoming a wedding planner because of you!!!! Keep doing what you do!
Can you pleasssee make a video about planning a wedding in like 5 months 🙏
Im watching this after a year this was posted. Im really excited. Our wedding is pinned in June..if our government allows with this covid19 pandemic. You are so helpful Jamie..as we cant afford a coordinator...they cost so muchhhhh here. The only thing I can help you is to not to.skip ads. Godbless...more power ,😊😊
I don’t know how I found your channel but so glad I did. I’m obsessed!! 💖 thank you for all your tips!
On the postal service one, I've been seeing brides encourage people to avoid dark colors behind the address. Some nightmare fuel on the weddings sub reddit o invitations being delayed by weeks. White or super light colors behind the address.
this is a lil late and unrelated, but what lipstick are you wearing? It looks really good
Here in Vienna it would be unthinkable to not serve coffee at a wedding 1. because of tradition and 2. partying until the next day. :)
I have just discovered your videos and already binged 4 in a row! HOW DID I NOT THINK OF THESE! I'm from the UK but pretty much all of this is still really relevant, Uber Exec for Wedding transport GENIUS! Thank you thank you for your tips!
My photobooth was 400! 4 hrs and it's one of those beautiful mirror frames.
wow that is great
We keep looking and everyone wants $1,000!
Where are you located and do you happen to have the information of the company?
Weeding a cricut DIY wedding sign as I'm watching!
I plan to have my wedding on a sunday and honestly the place I want to go with does it for $10 less
I have studied wedding planning in depth for the last 3 years. Buy flowers that are in season in your region to save money.
I love you so much I think your the best wedding planner I've ever seen and I love your videos
We’re making our own dried flower combs 🙌🥰
Hey Jamie, been lovin' your videos! Can you please make a video about wedding planning in the midst of this pandemic? Things change very frequently lately and we feel that it's harder to plan anything this way. At first, we said we'll just wait with it (we already been living like a married couple for years now), but we're kind of wondering what if this goes on for years now...Also, we really miss dancing with the people we love, so that makes us want to have the wedding even more. I think any advice on this would interest many of the brides & grooms watching your channel. Thanks in Advance!
Monday weddings for the win! 11/22/21, Waco's not too far from Conroe... see you there. ;P
Your makeup, hair and outfit are so perfect in this!
So many ideas on where to cut the $$ so we have more for moving my groom to the us 💜💜
It was 1000 dollars to have a Sunday wedding versus a Saturday one and it was a gorgeous place.
Girll the thrift store and me are best friends 😂 oh and FB market
If you serve some kind of dessert coffee is essential.
Did 16 of these 18 tips, yay!!
omg I wish I could hire you for my wedding 😭 and lowkey wish i was your friend lol I love your energy
In one of your videos you mentioned a cheaper alternative to eucalyptus, what was it?
We thrifted milk glass that I painted to all match also thrifted pewter picture frames for the tables
Jamie can you do a video on traditional and non-traditional invitations? Thanks!
Hey Jamie! What are your thoughts on family-style catering as a cost saver and environment creator? I love the laid back and communal vibe it creates but haven't actually been to a wedding that's done it.
I'm saving a ton of money by just buying faux flowers! That way we can keep the bouquets and don't have to worry about extra costs
I just got engaged earlier this month and already planning! Your videos are SOOOOOO helpful! Thank you so freaking much!!!!
cece tapia Hi.
I just realised my wedding will be very expensive..
Mariann Eråk 😂😂😂😂
Oh my goodness! Thank you! I have a bubble maker machine in my online shopping cart, i'm about to check it out! you saved me bucks! love you.
An excuse to eat cake? Can't go wrong with that! 😁
I have a question about the Polaroid film. I love that idea - to use Polaroid cameras instead of getting a photo booth. Does Polaroid film expire? I heard the photo turns weird/color washes out after a while?
So helpful. I have watched every video on your channel!
Thank you for another awesome video. Love your hair
I'm doing almost all of these, thanks Jamie! Bring on the brunch!!!
Love your look in this video & your make up!
I am def D.I.Y.ing so much during my wedding planning process. Lol!
