    Very useful. Seems to bring the notes volume to the same level, the sound remains clean and sharp, consequently the overall sound more stable without peaks with conserved instrument natural harmonics caracteristics.

    this is the slappers compressor pedal, just keep that enhance maybe under 9-10 and you won't get any hiss/noise. awesome pedal for the price point, built like a tank.

      @@InTheGrooove It's not the pedal hiss, it's the overall your signal chain hiss. Pedal doesn't make hiss by itself, just enhances the highs.

    Ah, the venerable, underrated LMB_3. Not the best thing out there, but still a very useful pedal, if you know what you're doing.

      It's a pretty cool sounding pedal. I was thinking of getting one myself if I ever needed a limiter pedal. I am intrigued by how much it enhances the bass. especially when using distortion.

    I’ve heard to use the Enhance knob as little as possible to keep noise down. Although it’s labeled as a limiter, it can be used to act like a compressor.

      Yes it can. A Limiter is just a compressor with the ratio ser high. If you keep the ratio at about 9 o’clock and the threshold at 12 o’clock you will get a great compression effect

    Use this pedal combined with thé ampeg opto compressor. Fabulous if you know how to use lt. Been using this pedal since 2009 so that means something. Been on Every gig I did + countless rehearsels.

    this pedal is a little bit noisy if you increase enhance function but otherwise it is an excellent compression pedal

    Hmmm, perhaps mention the McKinley mod, 2 birds one stone. (Still has that barely perceptible top end fizz and very perceptible hiss that drives engineers over hedges, out windows and over cliffs...)

    Cool demo...I've never own a compressor or a limiter pedal before, but I am intrigue on how much this pedal enhances the bass tone. so I am considering getting one of these for my pedalboard. also it sounds killer with the distortion channel on the microtubes 900.

      @@alexskibicki2262 It's the kind of pedal that always stays on in my chain, it's simple, I tried to switch it off once, it was way harder to hear myself in a band context. Plus it compresses a bit the tone (but not as well as a compressor would).

    Keep the hiss knob below 9 o’clock and it’s a usable pedal.

      U2BROTHR I have been using this pedal for several weeks now since my initial purchase. I have to say my first opinion was not too impressed. Now I’m like...wow. I love it. Get used to it. Try different settings. It’s always on. Love it!!! Makes my jazz and P sing.

    I'm too much of a beginner to know, but I think I managed to find a STEAL when I got this pedal. It had done wonders for my tone. Only problem is I think the wiring in mine is loose because it's very noisy.

      The pedal probably isn't noisy, it's just compressing the line noise that is already in your line, this will especially be the case after an overdrive pedal

      A compressor would even out everything by limiting some peaks and raising the notes that are too quiet. This will just squeeze the peaks but won't raise anything plus it has the ''enhance'' control which seems too be like a bbe sonic maximzer process knob.

      It's a compressor, because you can chose amount of ratio, in limiter the ratio is infinite. I don't know why they called this pedal limiter.

      @@pideuhweuh8459 This pedal actually does a great job based on the name. This pedal limiting the signal when it comes to touch the threshold, you right about squeezing the peak signal, but this pedal also can raise the signal by turn the level knob clockwise so it will raise the low level signal, set the threshold to your desire db level and then you can get the compressed signal as you desire, in other words it acts like a brickwall or hard limiting because the ratio is infinite. i use this pedal from 2015 untill now and have no regrets about it.. cheers.. 🍺

      Simply put regardless of what others here may say, it's not lol. If you have a quality compressor you like don't give this another thought, it's a money grab on the part of Boss.

      @@charlesbr7684 No way, this pedal is an awesome piece for a dawless setup. You don't even have to necessarily use it on bass, it's a full compressor on its own, even though it's a bit bare bones.

      yes of course! You will have a natural and powerful sound, you can leave the ratio at zero, increase the enhancer and play with the threshold.

      the bc1x will do overall compression and fattening up better as it's a digital multiband compressor. the lmb3 has a higher ratio so it can be used better as a hard limiter.

    Old video but maybe someone will kmow the answer. How did these guys get the 'enhance' knob turned up that high without a load of hiss?
    I just got one of these. I like it, and I like what the enhance know does for the tone but it makes a loud hiss past 9:00, yet I like the clank it adds to the tone a lot. How did these guys get that to go away? Is a noise gate the answer?

    I've had one of these for well over ten years and I've never once got it to sound usable. I have no idea what sort of black magic you're performing with this device.

      What are your current settings now? I find that a little goes a long way with this pedal (especially with the enhance knob). Also, the threshold knobs works "in reverse" - you get more compression when the knob goes COUNTER clockwise. This often throws people for a loop (although it makes sense, if you think about it).

      @@Andyanddiana467 threshold isnt reversed. Threshold is the volume at which the compression kicks in, so naturally lower threshold means the compression kicks in earlier.

      Technically yes, you're correct. It's just that many people I've met who expressed dissatisfaction with the pedal often do because they expect clockwise = "more." Hence my comment as to why the knob's action makes sense.

      If you don't understand compression, it's the easiest way to trash your sound. Bad compression kills the dynamics of the signal and it will never sound or feel right until it's tweaked to whatever song you're playing.

      @James NotBond This pedal is similar to a compressor except it doesn't compress the notes it limits volume spikes. The enhance control pretty much is like a presence control except not a very good one, if used incorrectly all it will do is add a hiss to your sound. I don't see how this pedal would be able to blow your speakers though as its designed to limit spikes so you shouldn't have that issue.
