    I'm currently using a JHS Pulp N Peel. It sounds really good and has a built in DI as well as a built in distortion circuit based on a PROCO Rat

    I own both the Hyper Luminal and Origin Compact Bass and they're great. But another that should have been included is the Empress Compressor Bass.

    I have the Keeley and like it's simplicity. Very easy to dial in what you want in compression.

    Great vid… I have a rack mount DBX 160X and I’ve always wondered about getting a pedal for a different kind. I have 2 fx paths… a mono path with the DBX , And then a stereo fx loop path for modulation fx. I wonder about a compressor somewhere else in my path.

    I switch between my MXR bass compressor and the Fender Downtown Express compressor. The MXR is a peak compression, the Fender is RMS compression 👍🏻

      Are you still using the Fender Downtown Express? I owned it for a while and kind of regret selling it. I found it a little hard to dial in what I wanted but I did like the compression.

    I prefer to have individual control of attack, release, ratio and threshold, as well as an led/indicator that shows how much compression is being used. Also, a compressor should not color your tone. For these reasons I prefer the MXR M87 Bass Compressor. I’m surprised that this pedal didn’t make your top 5 list. 🤷🏻‍♂️

      Definitely one of the most transparent compressors pedals made, and preferable to many on this list.
      I love my m87!

    I have the Maxon cp9pro+, only threshold, ratio and gain control but studio quality compression. Internal circuit which transforms the 9v into 18v, no modification of the sound just the dynamics, a little expensive but try it and you will see!

    I use the multi band compressor on my LR Baggs Stadium DI.. works ok and doesn’t color my tone.. I also get the other benefits of the pedal
    btw: I have bought and sold many comp pedals and I found most to be useable.. some were way to noisy for me

    I would love to see how my ears would react to the sound of a pleasant bass compressor. Just like the ones that are mentioned on this video. In other words, I'll like the voice to just be muted. Thanks.

    Will a compressor affect dynamics?

  • @Annunaki_0517
    @Annunaki_0517 6 місяців тому

    Why call them Bass Compressors? A compressor doesn’t work on specific frequencies, so a good comp wil work well on any source.

      Because the parameters matter and can me bass specific

    It's a shame that the pedals are so absurdly overpriced.
    I'd rather have an HX STomp. All in one and MUCH more flexible.
