I bought a sonicwake V2-36 off of eBay a total wreck but watching your video it's come back to life. I have a spektrum 4074 water cooled ready to drop in keep up the videos
I have done this with the boat and I also increased the prop size it was very hard to drive cuz if you gave it too much throttle too fast it was literally Spin and flip upside down and torque of the crop which spin the boat on the top of the water
hey IC....when you say ..more power...i'm with ya all the way...when you are choosing a smaller cooler ring for that mtr.....remember: 1. the battery creates the power 2. the esc transfers the power 3. the motor transfers it to heat.....motors melt....that armature shellac turns liquid and shorts everything. .hope the shorty ring works...
@@IRONCLADRC Does the transmitter/reciever have telemetry options, you could have a temp reader on the motor, keep you in the loop on whats going on below deck as your boating along :D
I wanted to put it in the ul-19 so bad, I may just throw it in there one day for sh%to & giggles lol. I ran it on 4s yesterday didn't get to put 6s on it because it started pouring rain. Hopefully tomorrow the weather will allow a 6s run. Thanks again my friend I really appreciate the support. Cheers
@@IRONCLADRC yeah I know what you mean..you and I both know you’re going to do it!! Youre like me, when you get an idea in your head the only way out, is to actually DO IT!! Haha🤣 go for it.. see how the Sonic goes on the 6S, cant wait to see!!
Great video Big B, and great mods 👌 I make my own ESC mounts and battery trays using 2mm foam board (yeah you know I love the stuff) with two layers of carbon fibre mat and epoxy. Strong, light, cheap and IRONCLAD! 😉 And never apologise for the length of your videos buddy... longer videos = more knowledge shared 👍
...you can still try those trim tabs...just drill a few small holes so the water can still drain out...but i know you have already thought of this bro but i wanted to put my 2 cents in...i just got the sonicwake and im following in your footsteps so thanks for all of the videos
All great minds think a like. They would be to big. I want to get the split trim tabs for the sonicwake. rcboatbitz.com/product/proboat-sonicwake-upgrade-dual-trim-tabs-jsw50/
Quick question I basically built a clone of sonicwake upgrades and I was curious what you set you punch level at on your ESC ? And any other setting adjustments suggestions would be greatly appreciated 🙂 Love Your videos you rock!! 👍👍
if its your first run with your new set up then i usually run My boats punch at one but if I'm confident in my set up id go up to 5 punch, depending on what I'm trying todo
I was wonder that myself. As the diameter is for the smaller motor it may have to be sanded also, unless it's flexible enough to fit round the top of the new motor and screwed into place. Oh. I read your comment as the top mount, not the front lol
Your ESC mount solution gets the Dr. Jet Seal of Approval! 👍👍, but the color combination leaves me somewhat flummoxed..... Slime green in a blue and white boat? What were you thinking? 🤔 Oh well, it's hidden from view so everything is PERFECT!
Quick question what do you set your timing at on your flycolor esc? I have this exact same set up in my sonic wake And it's pretty badass but just trying to tune it a little bit more
Just wondering what would the difference between the sss 4074 and the sss 4082 both 2000kv besides the obvious can length? Still trying to rap my head around what's going on inside these brushless motors. Just want to make the right choice before buying. Already ordered the flycolor 150 esc. Not looking to break speed records just decently fast with no heat issues. My stock boat has Basically had to heat issues from day one. Sorry for rambling just looking for advice.
I'd stick with the 4074, the 4082 may heat the speed control up a little more than you'd like it to. The longer can offers a little more torque than the short can, but has more current/Amp draw in return. Since you already have the flycolor otw I'd stick with the 4074. I think the 4082 would be pushing it. In my opinion
I have a sonicwake and I'm looking to upgrade the electronics and I was wondering if you had a chance to run your boat and what your feelings on the upgrade from stock ?
I'm going to run it on 6s here in a few minutes video will be out tomorrow morning. I ran it on 4s the other day here's the video. Way more power so far I like the new powerua-cam.com/video/34VmPNP_CzI/v-deo.html
Really depends on the weight of the hull and what your trying to do with the boat. 40 series motor should work. Something like a 40 84 or 4092 is. 1600-1900kv range? Hope this helps
I've used these spectrum smart 2200 4s 100c in my blackjack 24 and they were amazing. A little pricey but if you have any issue they have a warranty. I have done this with the boat and I also increased the prop size it was very hard to drive cuz if you gave it too much throttle too fast it was literally Spin and flip upside down and torque of the crop which spin the boat on the top of the water
Bigger turn fins help stop the spin out

I believe I had it at 15° or stock timing? I can't remember
Which Board do you think I should use, cutting board or fiberglass for ESC mount?
Either one really, personal preference.. I used the cutting board because it was thicker than the fiberglass and lighter.
@@IRONCLADRC thank you
Great video! What brand locktight do you use? Thx!
5mm lock nut

Sealing 180 ? spectrum 160 ? And what big motor should I use for top speed

If so sss 4082 2000kv should be a beast with a hobbywing 180
