Nice run down. It does 50mph+ fairly easily and handles great. Mine was a little wet out of the box too. This boat was supposed to come with the DX3 but the global chip shortage caused them to make a last min business decision to swap it out, for the SLT 3 so it could be released for Spring 2022. . Always good stuff from your channel.

Nay bud the original runs just great this is horizon just bs Hollywood trying to remake a old movie my original runs at 90mph and its just fine. Also after my video on the shit batt cradle they fixed it and I gave that info on how to fix it to there engineers. what a rip off they did from me. I should of patten that. Not going to buy!!

Im getting worn out from all the V2 models being released from Horizon Hobbies, but this boat isnt a bother. Has some features the V1 needed. I have been planning on getting the black and green V1 for a long time, about 2 years now, but ive been knocking out some other RC wants first. I definitely like the dual pickup and inner rib reinforcement. Im not a fan of the decal art but it isnt enough to deture me from getting it. I also like the price didnt jump up like everything else. Everything was increasing like 120$ or more like the DBXL for instance. The V1 DBXL K&N was on my list for as long as i wanted the Sonicwake, but has been on backorder for the same amount of time. I will DEFINITELY need to put the K&N body on the V2 DBXL as well as taking the silly wing off when i get it. Im very happy to see the price for the Sonicwake jump up only $20. That is a huge positive as a lot of the time that $120 increase has stopped me from buying other models without seeing the value in the increase. The Sonicwake easily shows the $20 value increase in the dual pickup rudder alone, then there is the reinforcement, trim tab changes, etc tjat makes it a bargain for sure.
Sonicwake is the most fun rc boat to play with on the water!

when the lipo batteries are running low is there any warning signal in the transmitter?
Lipo batteries run down suddenly,
Or do you understand that there is a loss of power and can you get back in?

I just got an used SonicWakeV2 and was running with an Impulse 32 before. The Impulse seems to be wayy faster, yes the ESC is 160A instead of 120A but weird thing everything's getting alot hotter on the Sonic Wake. The motor, ESC and battery cables are much hotter. Moreover, on the Impulse I am unable to get to full speed yet, still too much waves on the lake I've ride. The Sonic rides alot smoother and takes waves way more easier than the Impulse.
I am thinking about putting the 160A and motor (2000kV instead of 1900 if I remember correctly). I would see how it goes.
BTW i am riding both boats with newer 2x 3S 100C 5000mAh spektrum packs.
Spectrum does offer a metal gear replacement set for that servo.
Impulse 31 Pastor that bought that you had that you have there and the motor is different but it has on the back a stabilizer that makes it even better Thomas Lake Wales Florida
Had the first model nothing but problems with the electronics and heat need 3 water pickups and still popped batteries. Im interested in v2 seems like proboat worked out the issues

What batteries do you run in this? Im about to order the boat this week. I dont want to order batteries that are to big to fit.
For how long could you run it on those batteries? I had a V1 which would run only 3 minutes.
I have both colors of version 1 and upgraded the rudder, speed controller and the remote with receiver so I can watch my battery consumption. Can’t believe they didn’t upgrade the transmitter on version 2 🤔🍺

I have the v1 I love it I have upgraded it and have I custom decal on it to,I run 1 6s 4500mah battery in it,I have never had any problems with it,I won't be getting the v2 as I am not alone of spectrum electrics,horizon hobbies seems to be trying to flood the market with their electrics,if I did get this which I won't the 1st thing to go will be the electrics
Tuning or a little rougher conditions maybe.

Hey Greg please help just got my v2 and took out for first run and water cooling is not working. Nothing clogged in there. no holes in the tubes what else is there
I love my Sonicwake, and would love to upgrade, but could it be any uglier? Why not put the blue stickers on the black hull, and the red on the white hull? It would be so much better. I just can't buy one of these....
If I’m correct I saw additional mounting holes For a larger Esc? Can anyone confirm this?
Get some locktite on the rudder nuts they fall out the rudder in water if straight out the box amd looses steering! Plus it does sink so be warned lol
Great review. My girlfriend and I plan on buying a couple of these next month. I'm just curious. Does it have to be a 100+C battery? We have a bunch of 50C packs and I'd rather not have to spend any more than we already are.

Seems like an oversight to me.
So, maybe a silly question but I'll ask it anyway: any thoughts on the SonicWake v2 vs the current Traxxas Spartan? I like the self righting feature of the sonic wake - not planning to invest in a canoe to save the boat - but I also have a fair number of traxxas batteries/chargers for the RC cars/trucks… 🤔
I could also get the SonicWake and use traxxas batteries… but they're 25C instead of the 50/100C that seem to be recommended for the SonicWake's electronics.
@@aaybes don't buy Traxxas batteries they puff when used on their own vehicles
Did they fix the battery tray issues where the batteries would come loose and affect self-righting?
The battery plate area has more structure to it than the previous version and now foam pads come pre-installed from the factory so the packs do not slide around.

Being a single prop, does it have much for torque twist? I had a brushless traxxas blast and the twist giving or releasing throttle was crazy 😜. She would plane on too great tho
I had a traxxas blast their junk not even comparable to proboat.
@@stevezack6077 I have a older proboat impulse, I upgraded the flex drive added a 180 amp esc and a large leopard hobby motor. I am running it on 6S, it is stupid fast now and handles great. Proboat makes good products. I never tried a Traxxas boat but they look more entry level to me.
@@stevezack6077 that’s fantastic good for you kiddo! Fortunately some of us people out there are capable and able to take care and modify stuff to make it reliable/good.

It should be, you can tune it if you really want to. My V1 hit 56mph right out of the box. Self righting makes this way better than Spartan.

@Out In the woods Traxxas Blast is sooooo slow, especially for the cost. I have lots of boats, and the $50 blue one on Amazon is way more fun than my (not really a) Blast.

I’ve got a black boat and although it’s small it’s quick and fits in my backpack. However I would never buy a black boat ever again. The brighter the better.
If you break your rudder shear screw/bolt, a couple 4 inch zip ties will get you running again ……and break when necessary😎
