When the crew of an oil tanker discover a man lost at sea on November 13 1961, he tells them a harrowing tale. His name is Captain Julian Harvey, and he’s the sole survivor of a yachting disaster: his wife Mary and the Duperraults, a family of five who had chartered the yacht, were all lost when their boat, the Bluebelle, caught on fire and sank. But several days later, another survivor, 11-year-old Terry Jo Duperrault, is found… and she has a very different story to tell.

How does one become so warped and heartless, to value life so little? He wasn't even moved by such a young child suffering due to his heinous actions. His undoing was assuming the sea would take her, thus not ending her life with the shotgun. Suddenly, he develops a conscience and takes the coward's way out. Tere must have had an angel on her shoulder, giving her the strength to survive all the trauma and carry on to lead such an exemplary life. I wish her peace and contentment for 'til the end of her days.
This is the most thorough coverage of this sad story. They need to make a movie of this.

"Julian Harvey abandoned me, thinking the ocean would swallow me. But instead, it created a bond between me and water". Tere Jo may be one of the strongest minded individuals I've ever heard of. She very clearly does not wany people to view her as a victim. Instead she wants people to look to her as a beacon of strength to rally around.
She was adopted by a shoal of whales, such intelligent creatures 🐳🐋

Never heard this sad story before. That girl is a survivor - I believe God sent those pilot whales to protect her. That evil monster, Harvey, killed his other wife and mother-in-law, surely. How he could destroy so many lives earns him a very special place in the next life. May he burn in eternity.

😮 This story is almost unbelievable…so much so, that I still believe it’s a miracle, in a way it was divine intervention to an abominable crime. The truth has an incredible way of surfacing, sooner or later.

Excellent story but one thing caught my attention. When telling her story to the coast guard she never mentioned her little sister. I would think that would be first on her mind. Where's my little sister?

The narrative would be improved by using a bit more nautical terminology eg the "crew man acted as watcher" would be better expressed as "stood watch". But otherwise an interesting tale and the Aussie accent sounds good.
