Let's be realistic, small EU producers won't bother with the UK due to the extra costs.

Not only will small businesses in the EU decide it is no longer worth selling into the UK market, but so too will EU haulage companies. They won't want to waste time on physical inspections of their loads, which could take hours, just to bring goods into the UK. If they can deliver quickly and efficiently to all EU countries, or sit for hours in a lorry park outside Dover, I wonder which they will prefer? 🤔This means even the larger businesses who were prepared to fill in the paperwork will decide it isn't worth the hassle. The result will be fewer imports, less choice, increased costs and higher inflation in the UK. Brexit - the gift that keeps on taking 🙄

@@Northstander The TCA is the best you can get as a third country. You have to remember that you are now not a partner of EU but a competitor and EU always looks after the interests of its own first. Well exceptions exist in trade with poor third world countries in Africa and elsewhere.
Remember "brexit is done" and "this has nothing to do with brexit" like seriously how can anyone with a straight face say that brexit is going well 😂 ???
Most of the major proponents of brexit aren't straight in any way, they are conmen and/or people who will benefit/have benefitted from the misery caused to the rest of the nation. They may have a straight face externally but they are laughing internally at the rest of us, especially the idiots who voted, against their own interests, for brexit.
With an already pushing 15% drop in trade as a result of BRexit, the upcoming border checks are adding insult to injury. Remember, _exporters_ often need _imports_ to achieve or improve their own products not just for the domestic market but for exports. The UK is a "trade dense" country, it doesn't have much in the way of natural resources and consequently relies heavily on trade to keep the economy at a high level. All this has been severely emasculated as a result of the 2016 National Act of Stupidity.
The UK expanded on the back of empire. It forced below global prices on colonial exports of raw material, and forced above global prices on its own exports of manufactured goods.
End of Empire was catastrophic.
It was no wonder the American colonies rebelled,
You are completely right. The situation in the UK will become worse and worse as time proceeds

Cameron took us out for his own ends. He didn't need to.
Not so. In his biography he stated that he thought an EU referendum was inevitable sooner or later and since he didn't believe voters would be stupid enough to vote to leave, he thought he might as well get the referendum over and done with. Big mistake, but it wasn't for his own ends.
If the brexit proponents had been honest about these consequences, all of which were known to be a possibility with a hard brexit, we would not be in this ridiculous mess. Boris, Farage, Mogg and cronies have a lot to answer for.

BUT THE BRITS WERE TOLD BY THE EU THAT THIS WILL HAPPEN - YOU DIDN´T WANT TO HEAR IT !!
The Tories could have gone WTO and had the minimum border checks required by the WTO.
Rest-Mogg wanted to register a WTO profile where nothing was charged a Tarrif.
That would mean others would have to charge their WTO profile Tarrifs on us.
And some are huge. Canadas WTO tarriff on cheese is 245%.
Ah time to pay more again.
Remember these forms are complicated and if they’re filled out incorrectly, the goods are returned and when you’re dealing with perishable goods that’s going to cost a lot of money.
You are absolutely right about the likely effects of the document checks - increased costs and slower shipments. We saw the same when document & checks were introduced for UK exporters to the EU - a lot of rejections - often due to document errors such as GB instead of UK, or things like batch numbers on the document - as well as issues with finding a suitably qualified vet willing to sign a health certificate - as they have not been needed before. For those EU exporters who ship to the UK in less than a full lorry load it will basically make the business less desirable and more expensive - so many will stop. On the UK side it will massively increase the volume of document checks - which may well divert Port Health resources away from their work on preventing substandard food entering the UK. The end result given the UK is a massive importer of Food from the EU will be increased prices in the shops, poorer quality fresh food given shipment delays, and a disappearance of products from small EU producers from the UK market.
At least those small companies have the whole of the EU to sell to. I hope they can shift the goods they have produced elsewhere.

Mogg and Badenich need putting in a room with these business owners and interviewed.
Is the UK going back in time because of brexit too?!? Why does it looks as the report was made in the 1980s/1990s???
I know a German company that regularly used to buy UK products prior to Brexit but because of Brexit that got too expensive and complicated and also the shipping takes too long, so they started looking around and found producers in France and Poland that offer comparable products, so they are now buying their products from there. I guess it isn't the only company that faced similar problems and turned to a similar solution. And it probably works the same way around: If a company used to sell their products to UK but that is no longer an interesting option, they will simply look for other EU markets instead. I just checked the numbers of my employer and compared to the rest of the EU, the number of UK customers we have is very small; we have about as many Austrian customers as UK customers at the moment, but Austria is a way smaller country with way less population. Compared to the rest of EU, UK is so insignificant that as soon as there is the tiniest reason to give up UK as a market, we certainly will. Just one crazy law or act of bureaucracy and UK is out.
Disaster. Total disaster.
